First Lopi for Knox (DDS Reimu)

 

Hi there, I thought I would have more pictures but I've been a little selective and ended with only this one . This is my DDS Reimu wearing a Lopi sweater I've made for her (free pattern human size is here :

I've made the leg warmers too but have no shorts or pants at the moment so it's hard to show them ^^.

Oh my goodness, she's adorable! I love how the blue of her hair and the brownish-red of her eyes match the sweater perfectly! Reimu's never really charmed me before, but goodness your girl is really fantastic.

As a knitter, I can say that the sweater is incredible. How did you scale it down for a DD? Which weight yarn and what size needles did you use?

Oh my! That is simply awesome. I bow to your skill, O Mistress of the Superfab Sweater. I'm so jealous of your talent. I don't know how to knit (could never get the hang of it) so I am just in awe of people who can come up with creations like this.

I don't a thing about knitting or yarn but I know when I like something and that sweater is awesome! The colors and patterns are so cool! And it goes so well with your girl, it fits nicely and matches her colors too. Excellent work!

For the sweater, I went with miniaturist simple rule : it's 1/3 scale, so I divided by 3 : needles gauge is normally 6 so I used needles number 2 (European size, don't know US number) and a yarn a little thicker than lace yarn, suitable for baby knits in fact (Drops Alpaca).

You can follow the smaller size of the pattern almost exactly like this, I did not change a stitch to obtain right in scale legwarmers (must really photograph them), sleeves are also the right size (I just did not made the big band that folds up at the bottom), and I just reduced the number of stitches for the body (104 stitches at the bottom -should have gone with a little more, say 108 maybe, DDS body has large hips- and reduced stitches slowly to obtain 98 before the yoke).

Like this if DD hips are not much larger than DDS, it should be ok for DD too I think .

For Dynamite body, I think you can use the exact measurements of the smaller size of the pattern .

 

Would it be of any use if I make something more tutorial-like in another topic ? I don't know if there are many knitters here but I'd be happy to share .

I'd be happy to see a tutorial! I've knit sweaters for my DDs before with lace weight and tiny needles, but the patterns were specifically for 1/3 BJDs. I also haven't tackled colour work before, so this would be a nice way for me to try it.

I'll do my best making a tutorial for this particular pattern when I'm done with the back closing of the sweater but I have yet to find appropriate little buttons so it might take time .

That really is an awesome sweater. I love this look for a Reimu. I am partial to Mirai's wig style. It frames her face perfectly. Knox is just so beautiful.
