Flying with your DDs?

Can you take the tweed bags from Volks on an airplane? Or they considered to big for carry-on?

Wayne

I think it depends on the airline you're traveling on and what type of aircraft you'll be on.

The tweed bag is 70cm long (according to Volks website's measurement) and the maximum length for most airline carry-on luggage restrictions is 55cm. So, technically, no.

When I flew on a smaller regional airline earlier this spring, they made me put my suitcase into the metal "sizer" to make sure it was the right size (it was! bwahaha!) because they wanted to try to force me to check it in and pay a fee. I don't think you'd want to take the risk of having your dolls checked in cargo simply because the bag was too big 0__0" Also with smaller airlines that use smaller planes, the space available on board for carry-on luggage is limited.

For larger airlines you can get away with a lot more. With the new advantages of self check-in and printing your own boarding pass, last time I flew to L.A., I made it from the parking lot to the airplane gate before meeting anyone that worked for the airline (not counting security screening, but that doesn't count since security people don't really care about the size of your bag if it's a few cm over - they are busy looking at the scans to make sure you didn't pack any dangerous articles!) and there were suitcases in the overhead bins that were MASSIVE.

Sometimes I see people traveling with long poster tubes (art tubes) that are longer than 55cm, but as long as they fit laying sideways in the overhead bin it's ok.
