juu-yuki Posted March 3, 2013 Let me introduce everyone to the newest addition to me family, Sora. Back in October of 2010, I came across a series called Yosuga no Sora. The story follows Sora and her twin brother as they start a new life in a countryside after their parents passed away in an accident. Lets just say Sora developed feelings for her brother and it raised a lot of issues. It has been over 2 years and my love for this character is still strong, that is why I’ve decided that I must make a custom DD of her. Like many of my other girls, I still have not developed her true personality yet. I do want her to keep some of her personality from the series, quiet, fragile, emotional, uncaring and rude to people she doesn’t love. She will do anything to have it her way. She will throw huge tantrums, lock herself in her room for hours, and may even go as far as attempt suicide. But, I also want to capture that small, innocent, angelic side of her. No idea how I am going to do this, but I’ve decided that she will be mostly wearing black and white outfits, both casual and gothic lolita. So why did I leave the creation of Sora until now if I fell in love with her in 2010? My main problem is the head mold. Before I even attempt to start a custom project I need to have the perfect head in hand. I knew I wanted a head that had a slightly open mouth. I didn’t want a smile because Sora doesn’t usually smile anyways. This narrowed down a lot or heads for me. I did NOT want a SQLab head. Nothing against the company, I just don’t like their heads. I also don’t like Lucy’s white skin and her mold in general. Sasara was way out of my price range and I don’t think her mold suits Sora, it’s too grown up and mature. The leaves only one head, Sora is a customized Sakuno head by me that I got from a good friend, Waha. He acquired a cute custom Sakuno from YJA so I got the chance to buy her for a reasonable price. All of the other pieces came together by themselves. I commissioned an experienced tailor to make the outfit, and it came out wonderfully. She paid a lot to attention to the details and it looked like she took the outfit right out of the anime. It’s perfect, I am very happy with it. I can see Sora wearing this for a very long time. The plush black rabbit was also commissioned. When I first got the final product from the artist I did not like it. It was not very accurate to the one in the anime so I had to remake it. I redid the eyes using different buttons and adjusted the nose. I had to adjust the head shape and neck size too. It is not perfect, but I can live with it for now. To finish the rabbit off, I tied on another kind of ribbon. This plush took me way too long to remake, maybe I am too picky with everything =/ The wig was customized by me. I bought a curly light blond wig which I thought suits her more than the dark yellow or white I see on her sometimes in pictures. I trimmed her bangs slightly, straightened the wig and added the ribbons. I tried doing something different this time. Her ribbons are not tied on, they are held on by the elastic I used to tie the twintails. Tying it just didn’t give the same droopy effect I was looking for, at least not with this kind of ribbon. I actually had Sora completed about a month or two ago but I wasn’t happy with her. She seemed so lifeless. I made a decision to sell her because she just didn’t come out as I had imagined, but Mahoro changed my mind. I forgot what he said to me but I decided to hold onto her for awhile longer and it was the best decision I had ever made. I recently got my hands on a pair of new Twin-Snow eyes and she looks like a totally different girl now. Sora is sitting with her beautiful sisters and brother now and I love her. I should really slow down on custom dolls because I get very attach to them. >^< Thanks for reading Sora’s story. It's a "bit" long . Please enjoy the photos of her below. katnaper Posted March 3, 2013 I like her eyes. She reminds me of Lucy but she has a more haunting expression, likea younger, more innocent, more fragile version that is quite like how you describe Sora. Your customs are always lovely and I am ever envious of your skill. Lovely work as always. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. WoundedNight64 Posted March 6, 2013 So beautiful and somewhat sorrowful, but you really get a hunt of that innocence. Out of curiosity who did you commission to do the outfit? It looks so professional and accurate and I love the style of the shirt. Are you going to get any of her other outfits from the anime? Hehe...Sorry for rambling on, she's an absolutely adorable girl who has certainly captured my heart. ^_^ At home; DDH-07 'Medea', Saving for; A body and Saber Lily ^_^ Waiting for:
