Doll Meet in Gastonia

A couple of weeks ago I went to a meetup to see some friends and celebrate one of their B-days. This was up near Charlotte so I stayed with AsianEd then he drove to the meet with me in tow.

 

The meet was at an old movie theater that had been turned into a bar/eatery and it was super cool inside. We ate lunch there and hung out a bit to talk and take photos.

Saber came again because the birthday girl wanted to see her in her default setup. After this meet, she went and bought her own Saber Extra! Yay!

I was only supposed to bring two girls with me to save room for everyone but two people dropped out at the last minute so I was able to sneak in all my MDD girls!

The birthday girl brought along her first DD girl, this custom 07 head from YJA. She's on a DDII M-bust body and she's awesome!

Before the food showed up, Hitomi and I went exploring in the resteraunt. Just outside our room were a bunch of cool things just sitting about.... like this traffic light!

This was a little lamp that spun a color wheel in front of it for a lighting effect on the wall. More on this later.

And since she was dressed in her self titled Magical Girl outfit, she decided to photobomb some resin boys who were drinking.

I love all the photos, but what really grabs me is the location. An old movie theatre huh? They've really done some work to make that place really interesting and unique.

 

And Ikki Tousen is awesome. I might have to.show you my figurines one day, but finding nice figures for the series is hard, since a lot of them are pretty trashy. Those ones in thoe photos there are really cool though.

I love the antics with the light. That looks way too fun to play with.

That movie theater bar is awesome!!! I wish we had one of those. Your MDD girls always know how to party. haha Some of those resins almost look like they were expressing displeasure with your comments about their laziness. It was funny to read that and then see them looking not so happy.

Thank you! I was super impressed with the place inside, it was really well done and different. I wish we had more places like this around. Yay for another IT fan! I'd love to see pics of your IT figures. I have a Ryomou shrine myself since she's my fave anime girl ever. It's hard to get more figures of her now tho since I basically own the best one available ( her DD version ) But you're right, some IT figures are just so bleah looking.... too bad the nice ones are always so hard to find and are usually expensive. Oh well, money saved to give to my DD girls!

Thank you! I agree that the 07 girl was great, this was my first time seeing one in person. And I am totally for seeing more Ryomou! She's my fave anime girl and it's a shame she seems to be under rated. I think she's a gorgeous mold and I love her to bits. But she *is* kind of difficult to get and she's expensive too. That's prolly why we don't see as many of them around.

We *had* something like this here but it used to be a movie theater turned internet café. But that was back when the internet was not widespread or easy to get on. Since then, that place went into doing movies again but they now serve dinner with the movies. It's not nearly as cool as it used to be.

 

Thanks about the MDD girls! They do seem to know how to enjoy themselves no matter where they are. And most resins ARE unhappy looking! It's not my fault I caught them being lazy... LOL

It was indeed a good time! I'm glad you liked the color wheel pics, they were fun to do. The light was not on when we first got up there but of course, my Hitomi clicked it on without a care and started messing with it before anyone could tell her no. I just wish the colors were more bright, the plastic film they had on the wheel looked very old and brittle and the colors were all faded. It was supposed to have clear, red, green and yellow but the green and yellow looked almost the same in the pics. And the red was more orange than anything. Still, we had fun with it.

Yes it was! And thanks about Hitomi! She's super fun to be with, I really do like her a lot. And this was the first 07 I've seen in person so it was nice to check her out to see how she was compared to other girls I've seen.

Thanks! It was a cool place indeed, I hope to go back again. Hitomi really had a blast there as you saw. The 07 girl's owner is working on a name for her, she had only had her for a couple of days before this meetup. And yes, the resin group ALWAYS looks grumpy! LOL

Ha ha! As I said, they certainly LOOK grumpy all the time. But that doesn't mean they ARE actually grumpy. It's like my Sprout, she may look irritated or mad all the time when she's really not.

Ha ha, don't worry about Minako, she's just copying her sister Manami. Minako didn't get any wine tho, she's way too young. And it was a very fun place, I hope we go back again. Thank you about Saber and Mou-chan! People had requested seeing them dressed up like this. One person wanted to see Saber because she was thinking of buying her own.... and after she saw mine in person, she called Volks US store and bought one! And another person there wanted to see Ryomou in her school uniform because she had cosplayed as her before in that outfit. So she was super happy to see her dressed like that.

Thank you very much! I tend to take lots of pics because that's how I remember things and places. My Mom always told me to take as many pics as I can, that way I won't miss anything later. And since digital "film" is free, I take a TON of pics! I'm sure it bugs people with me all over clicking away but oh well, I'm having fun.
