waha Posted March 20, 2013 Sanding vinyl is possible, it's how you do a lot of modifications. However, that is always done before a faceup is applied, so sanding an existing faceup to remove a scratch probably isn't a good idea as you'd remove the coating as well. waha Posted March 20, 2013 I'm no expert, but I'm fairly sure you can't recoat just a part of the face.
killerchan Posted March 20, 2013 I'm no expert, but I'm fairly sure you can't recoat just a part of the face. would it depend on where the scratch is because its not on any of the face-up part and if i could sand the scratch a tiny bit hopefully it will look ok then just lightly rub that area with rubbing alcohol then wash and dry the area and apply a full coat of sealant over the head if thats what ur implying?? xD; resin boys and vinyl girls, thats what i love! waha Posted March 20, 2013 I believe the problem lies is that you'll notice a change in color where you sand off the old coating, and then applying a new layer won't magically fix it. If you look at the faceup artists we got on this forum, pretty much all of them state that after they apply the final coating they can't do any modifications to the faceup. If they do, they have to wipe the entire thing as you'll end up with color variations/etc.
