Dannayi Posted May 14, 2014 The way I found dollfie dreams is pretty complicated actually. So at first I was into pullips, the while looking for a wig, I found bjd, then while later, while looking at some BJD clothes-I saw a dollfie dream. I didn't know it was a dollfie dream so I searched anime doll on google. it took me a while but I soon found them. then I loaded my brain filled with knowledge on them and such. I instantly fell for them because of their anime look. I just fell in love. I not that big an anime fan though, like my sister. but I do need to have atleast two animes and 3 mangas available when im ready to read/watch. My sister thinks the dolls eyes are creepy, and all I say is, "they look just like your anime characters but their eyes aren't creepy now are they?!!?" But she just says its not the same. my mother thinks Its weird that I collect dolls but doesn't say it and still helps me earn and save up and stuff like that. But anyway, this is how I started liking dollfie dreams and how I found them too.
Dannayi Posted May 14, 2014 In my case it was Danny Choo's fault and not just anime xD I would have to thank dollfie dream for that partially. I probably wouldn't have been as interested in Danny Choo and mirai-chan if I hadn't found dollfie dream. I remember finding finding the unfinished mirai-chan a couple years back but wasn't really that interested. All I said was, "Why does japan have to have everything America doesn't!!!" Anyway, The probability is 30%/50% that I would've re-found Danny Choo on my own, mainly because I probably would've searched for chobits figures like nendoids and 1/6 scale figures and stuff like that because at the time I was still watching the anime. SO I basically re-found danny choo with an interest in him because of dollfie dreams.
Squall-Leon Posted May 21, 2014 I came in this hobby because of the anime figures. The first DD I saw was in the french forum "Figure Maniax" (currently closed R.I.P T_T), that was Saber of fate/stay night and since that time I have always wanted a DD. Suldrun45 Posted May 21, 2014 I've been for a long time an anime figures collector, but I found about dollfies a few years ago via Danny Choo. It took me quite some time to do more than think about "one day, maybe I'll purchase one when I have the money"^^ Last year I purchased my first doll (an azone - Tsukiko) and then, I tried to enter the lottery last december, but could not get Yaya :/ But this set the machine into motion and a few weeks later, I bought my first dollfie
Fenris Posted May 23, 2014 I saw beautiful photos of them on some boards on 4chan. I've already had figmas and some busou shinki, so the idea of a poseable anime-ish figure is not foreign to me. Eventually just bought dollfies after seeing enough pictures of them that I wanted.
Riceballalien Posted May 23, 2014 I'd have to say it's a mixture of anime and an outside force, namely a really good friend of mine discussing it one day, and me looking it up and being absolutely fascinated/captivated. We talked long and often about them after that, and he actually sold me my first girl, and is holding my second on reserve for me. He also happens to be the one that supplies all of the anime for our weekly anime nights. Heh.
Syu_Akagi Posted May 23, 2014 At first I did get into them from favourate anime character. Later , I bought them by thinking about their face and make up. Coming Soon ...
Naurhir Posted May 23, 2014 Anime led me to Danny Choo (near the start of his site). I then like the idea of figures, but thought dolls were creepy. It wasn't until mass propaganda of his SmartDoll, mixed with my desire to own more and more of Tony Taka's work, that I just recently migrated from figures to DD. Doll Face Posted June 14, 2014 I personally like anime but thats not what got me into DDs >.< I got into DD's Because I'm into Resin BJDs- so it was linked from that. Back when I got into BJD's I was no longer into anime. At all. I like it now because there are a few that have sucked me back in (I like the new things coming out like Black Butler, Kamigami no Asobi, Attack on Titan, etc.). So yeah, Resin BJDs and then DDs xD
YouRei Posted June 16, 2014 I think it is linked for me, most of what i collect is anime themed and since DDs ARE anime themed..... If i hadnt been stunged by the anime fever i would have become a pure gamer and probably would be rich by now......oops o.o
Totorosan Posted July 2, 2014 Yeah, I'd have to say it's similar for me: anime is what brought DDs to my attention, but it's their customize-ability that made me actually take the plunge rather than being a bystanding admirer. Or maybe you could say that the customization made me want a doll and a fondness for anime is probably what made me want a DD in particular? Not quite sure which version of that statement is putting the cart before the horse. Yeah pretty much the same for me. I found them because of anime, and the customization of making a DD my very own is what finally pushed me to make the jump and make the investment.
ArcticWolfie Posted July 11, 2014 my answer on the thread question: I didn't get to know DD from anime I was searching for a Snow edition Hatsune Miku figurine when some search results brought me to Dollfie Dreams! (which is even better than figurines ) But I do watch anime series!
toxickitty Posted July 14, 2014 I've been into anime for years but i didn't discover dollfie dreams until i was collecting bjds. I wasn't sure if i wanted one until i saw a saber in real life and then i just decided to get one. Although wanting a girl to cosplay my favorite characters was also a nice motivator. elektroeule Posted August 28, 2014 I would say: so,so. ^^ I am a huge anime fan, but I came to dolls over Flickr, where I saw shots of BJDs. Then I came to DoA and ended up here, because of my huge love for anime.

chocomeijin Posted September 14, 2014 I like anime and I guess that's what draws me to DDs. Though I don't really like shows with that stylized look anymore lol
merry-go-round Posted September 14, 2014 I had my DD because I love anime. I think we can do much more things with DD (custom). for me, it started with a pullip then YoSD. But then I wanted another BJD ... but I leaned over to DD. I wanted a character to me but manga. And I wanted a unique character with characters specific to what I want. Of course when I saw that the joints saw, I hesitated but I do not regret my DD And now, I custom in my favorite manga / light novel anime. At home : Hanae (DDS Chihaya)
katzilla Posted October 28, 2014 I actually originally got into resin BJDs due to a love of art dolls but was drawn to DDs specifically due to being a long-term anime & manga fan, I'll admit! For some reason, I've always specifically been drawn to the over-exaggerated curves of the DDdy girls ever since I first locked eyes on one. I've always found over-exaggerated hyper-femininity in anime and manga character illustration, game characters and western caricatures strangely fascinating as a female myself so I guess it's no surprise really that I've been wanting to own a DDdy girl of my own for a while ^^ Hence, why my Miko I have on the way will be my 1st DD girl. The curviest girl I've otherwise previously owned in resin form was a Feeple65 Fairyland Chloe Elf and I adored her but decided to sell her sadly for financial reasons a few years ago I miss having her around, she was just gorgeous! https://flic.kr/p/aKbJKP
Lina Posted November 5, 2014 For me I started with other dolls, and had been in the hobby for a long time before I actually figured out what a dollfie dream was ^^". Then when I figured it out I just admired them for a really long time before deciding I wanted one, which I'm saving for now.
emouou Posted November 17, 2014 Oh! me! Haha. I first got into DDs from reading an old anime magazine back in the mid '00s. I really was captivated by them, even if, at the time, there weren't many anime girls out there. My love for them was really cemented with Rozen Maiden.~ I hope one day to obtain my grail, even just one of the girls from that show. lol
sklurk Posted November 17, 2014 I knew about dollfie dreams for a while, just didn't think it was feasible for me to get any, and needed some convincing. One super strong argument for getting one was my first trip to japan, walking into the volks hobby life store and wandering up into the doll section. The collection of sabers almost convinced me to leave the store with something.
AwesomeNinjaPowers Posted November 30, 2014 I was originally into the Resin BJDs and I didn't even know what Dollfie Dreams where (Sacrilege I know) until a friend bought his DDs along to a meet and I instantly fell in love with the feel, poseability and the overall cuteness of the designs. My first Love was Saber and one day she will be mine
aurora_light_dd Posted January 10, 2015 It was like when I watched the first and second season of Rozen Maiden, then I searched for Suigintou doll...which leads me to look at Volks SD13 Suigintou...then I saw that there's another type of dollfie, which is the Dollfie Dream series that's about how i got into knowing this hobby. hatchetsforhands Posted July 27, 2015 I've been an anime fan all of my life, and since I'm really into Vocaloid when I heard the announcement for the Dollfie Dream Miku a spark went off and then all of a sudden DDs piqued my interest.
