How many of us got into the dd dolls from anime?

I do enjoy anime, but it wasn't what got me into the hobby. Personally I got into this because I've always like poseable figures. My first "big" purchase of an anime figure was a figma for $55 (talk about breaking the bank). I thought that was so expensive at the time too... I was also 14 or 15 at the time so i guess maybe back then for me it was. Then I started getting into 1/6 scale figures like phicen, hot toys, medicom, etc. Over the years I collected more figmas and have a decent collection now and it still grows from time to time. I got my first bjd about 2 years ago now and I'll admit I never thought I'd own a doll of this size, but I do enjoy it. I plan on getting more sometime down the road. Hopefully sooner rather than later, but we shall see.

i got into DD's when i was roaming thru tiktok and saw the "creepy miku doll" so i googled more about her AND BAM! i got obssessed with DD's unfortunetly i didnt have enough money to buy Len one at that time (only second hand costed 4000$) so having a dollfie was my grail, then when Kaito's PO was opened , i was so amazed, it was a dream come true. so yea then i preordered Len too back in march so thats how i got into DD's and how it continues into having a spending problem. 😄

I feel kind of dumb that I bought a Clannad art book when I visited Tokyo in 2008 but I've only just got round to watching the anime.

I'm currently watching the After Story. Episode 1 was a bit 🥱 but hopefully it will improve. For anyone who hasn't seen it, the first series is amazing. It has 3 intertwined stories. The first 2 are real tearjerkers. The 3rd is not quite in the same league as the first 2, but the ending is deeply satisfying.

The first specials are a mixed bag. One is good, one is meh.

It reminded me of Love Hina. That was another excellent show with a couple of absolutely brilliant and memorable specials.

Here's Uzuki in her Clannad uniform with the art book - definitely two of my most prized possessions 🥰. We're trying to find some wigs so the girls can cosplay as their favourite characters. Fuko chan was Uzuki's idol but then she became a bit annoying. Kotomi is a big favourite of my girls, although if the outfit fitted DDdy's then I'm sure Yor would love to cosplay as Kyou.

We've ordered some Dango plushies so we'll soon have a Big Dango Family of our own.

I don't watch anime, I don't like it. I used to watch anime when I was a teen and  I stopped watching anime way before I found out about DDs, even BJDs....but for some reason I wasn't attracted to DDs. I got introduced to them in DoA forum, I was a huge BJD collector. Ironically, when I started collecting DDs I stopped buying BJDs.  DDs showed me how good they are at posing, BJDs are only good when they're new, with time we have to restring the doll and that's a pain in the 🍑, I have no time or desire anymore so I don't buy them.  I just wish there were more mature DD boy bodies like the Switch bodies and Volks SD17 bodies.
