SisterKyoya Posted September 7, 2013 Thanks! It took me a while to figure out how to squish everyone on there and make it coherent. I knew it was coming and I'll have to do it again once KosMos gets here. The only thing that drives me nuts is that Lucas has the wrong eyes but they were the easiest to get to when I was working on his face. I wish Naiomi didn't look grumpy either, every time I update my sig I use new pics and I found out I don't have many of her (or Rainie in her current faceup.) That's one of the downsides of being short of bodies is it takes longer to connect with them when you have to swap bodies all the time and everyone can't be in the same room at once. It is difficult to see how personalities clash or work together when only one of them is in the room... Ralph is on the 45cm body so Bree can borrow the MDD body. It really shocked me that she started talking up a storm with him when she normally doesn't hardly realize anyone else is there (except Yuriko). It also could be why I'm finding photo stories to be difficult at the moment because it takes some really creative camera work. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
SisterKyoya Posted March 4, 2014 An unexpected update on Lucas... because I was playing in Photoshop. I had gotten so tired of Lucas' eyes being so utterly the wrong color in my sig, I'm pretty sure it irritated me every time I saw it. Each time I update my Sig, I make sure there is new pics of everyone. For Lucas, the only new pics I had is when I was swapping eyes sometime in Dec. and he ended up with Momo's defaults. Quite some time ago I had settled on the 'B type' green eyes for him from Parabox. I figured that the two pairs of eyes were kinda similar and I really wanted to see if green was right for Lucas, so I recolored them. If the Parabox eyes even get close to this, I will be thrilled to the ends of my toes. He just looks awesome! He is finally starting to look like I wanted him to. As for the rest of his updates, I'm doing everything I can to get the 5 bodies I still need to not have any more floating heads. Without his body I can't make his clothes, and it is hard for me to really place his age until he has his body too. I'm still trying for the life of me to figure out how to do his hair, but that will be easier to determine once I can get some wig making supplies and see if I can do it that way. I'm not going to let him be bald like Dolly and Ralph insist that they have to be. Lucas is not the hat type. Hoodies, yes, but not hats. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
SisterKyoya Posted March 10, 2014 I've been working my rear end off, so I decided to give myself a treat and finally ordered Lucas' Parabox eyes. I've been having to put it off for so long now that I did a mental double take when the order confirmation page popped up. Well... I also decided to order a couple of colors of heat-resistant hair fibers to mix together too. I guess its my experiment if I can even stand making wigs for my DD kids. Also happened to track down the funky little hooks/needles used for making lace front wigs (invisible-ish hairline, not sure if it will work on DD heads). Holy cow, now all that's left to buy to finish Lucas is a body and that's less than $250 at the moment! Still a lot of work ahead of me and clothes to figure out (oops and shoes to buy), but I'm finally getting somewhere! ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
SisterKyoya Posted March 18, 2014 Lucas' eyes got here today, Yipee! The quality isn't the same as Volks (they are a somewhat pixelated) but I am totally in love with the color! And in all honesty when you are sitting there lust looking at him it isn't really noticeable unless you are looking for it. I'm still trying to get the eye placement right. Sometimes it seems off, and other times it doesn't. I've never had this much trouble placing eyes and I'm starting to wonder if it just has to do with the small variations in the shape of the eye holes. At last! He finally has his own eyes! The hair fibers came a while ago too... but I need to get some black or very dark brown ones to end up with what I wanted. This is the first time that my online color matching has failed me, but granted the fibers I was looking at had a lot of subtle variations that can be lost if not photographed well, or color adjusted on a monitor who's colors aren't true. As it is, what I ended up with is a lot more red in it than I was wanting. Upper left is Naiomi's hair, upper right is Dakota, and the ones at the bottom are the new fibers. I really love the color (I mixed 2 different ones together) but it just isn't right for Lucas unless I can make it darker. I know I can easily do that, but I'm starting to think that I need to fork out the extra to get the swatch sampler that is available for this type of hair. Even though there are 50 colors available, the cost is still kinda ouch. However I'd have it on hand for other wigs I'm thinking on doing, like alternate styles for Miku. I'm currently seeing if the color transfers or not, they are synthetic heat resistant fibers, but since they are for normal wigs and not doll wigs, I didn't know if it would be an issue. All that aside, the fibers are SO fun to play with because they are very fine and silky smooth. They remind me very much of the LeekeWorld wigs, without the odd chalky/resin powder feel to it. I'm so excited that after this I just need a body and his clothes to get him finished! Urg, this has taken so much longer to work on than I ever intended. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Ravendruid Posted March 18, 2014 Looking good! Those eyes really suit him well, and I think the slightly reddish brown goes well with them. Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids

SisterKyoya Posted March 20, 2014 I like some of the red in there, so at least part of the color was intentional, but I didn't quite what it THAT red. This was taken where I do my photos so the extra light makes the red really pop out when normally it does look a lot darker brown. It just bugs me that it isn't closer to his eyebrow color, but at the same time I didn't really want him to have black hair either because Kiyoteru will. One thing I'm pleased with so far is the way the fibers move. It looks like it will work well for the stickup hairdo, as long as I can figure out how to do it properly. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

SisterKyoya Posted March 21, 2014 Actually, no. His favorite anime type boys are all blond and short. Len Kagamine, Oliver (another Vocaloid), and of course Hunni (Ouran) are all the ones that come to mind. The photo story of Tama sneaking peaks at the Kaylus pics still makes me laugh because even if he wouldn't admit it, he was nearly drooling over them in his own way. So at least in anime aesthetics he's all about the blond shotas, making Lucas an even more unlikely candidate. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
SisterKyoya Posted January 22, 2015 Update! He may be ticked at me, and it isn't a very impressive pic but I'm starting on the pattern for his headcap. This simple thing was one piece that I didn't want to do until I got his hair figured out. So what does this mean? For me it means that THE most difficult part of this entire project is solved and I'm entirely pleased with what has resulted so far. In fact it is the solution to all of my boy hair troubles. *does an extended happy dance* I'm hoping to have finished hair pics to post in about two weeks (or less) if everything keeps going smoothly. Raven and I have been diligently working towards saving for his body. Once he discovered that Sheryl would be turned into Madison (a guy) Lucas started to go into a rampage about getting finished. I had already been working on that before Christmas but Ringo was pushed to the forefront since a body was all she needed, while Ralph and Rainie kept mentioning how much they would miss her during the holidays. So if no big surprises come up I'm planning on getting Lucas' DDS body by the end of Feb. and then I can get started on his clothes. I'm not sure yet how much will change with his outfits from my original idea with him actually being here to boss me around. I'm not sure if the hoodies will work well with him (but Ralph loves them) but the layered clothing is still a must. I should have realized more thoroughly from the beginning that he is more grunge than anything I think, but who knows. I'll post more pics soon once more steps in the process are finished. Lucas has been my most difficult custom to date but it feels really good seeing him come together and looking like he's been in my head for the last two years. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
SisterKyoya Posted January 23, 2015 Lucas... with some hair! This was just some preliminary testing of the hair wefts if they would act like they were supposed to. They are just being held on with his headband thing (no idea what it should be called.) I'm expecting that once the wig is finished that the hair will be a little easier to style and not quite so messy looking. I'm hope that the anime hair spikes will be a bit easier to do as well. He's still on the wrong body, currently using a DD body with the Obitsu Macho bust & male torso but will eventually be on a DDS body that looks the same but shorter. His shoes were ordered today along with a second torso (he and Ralph use the same torso type but different busts.) Once his wig is done then the next step is to figure out, draft, and sew his clothes. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

SisterKyoya Posted January 28, 2015 I just bought the yarn yesterday for Ralph's hair. If Kaylus think's Lucas' hair is bad, just wait until he see Ralph's! (as if he could have normal hair...) There is a reason why Ralph likes to wear hats... All wigs have been put on hold this week while I've been working on Valentine stuff. I have quite a few more wefts done for Lucas' hair and I'm getting close to making his headcap to test this whole crazy idea out. Ralph, Bree, Dolly, and a normal wig fiber wig for Ringo are also being worked on sporadically, with Yuriko & Miku waiting in line. Also last week I ordered Lucas' torso piece from Parabox (and new eyes for Ranka) as well as his shoes (and some for Rainie, Ringo, Ralph & Dakota.) ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
SisterKyoya Posted June 17, 2015 If he auditioned for the Lion King musical as Mufasa, I thing he'd have a fighting chance! LMAO! This is just TOO funny! All that aside, I'm really happy that the fibers are behaving like I need them to for his very difficult hair style. I sat and fussed over how it should be done to turn out correctly for a very long time. It is the reason this has taken so darn long! Is he attempting to try out for an 80s hair band?? LMAO! this is only half his hair... can you believe it? It will take me a while to learn how to style his hair once it's been cut. I hope I can cut it correctly for what I want. Unlike a premade wig, if I need to replace a part of it, it wouldn't be hard to do. This is the first wig I've ever done so it has surely been an experiment. After how long it takes to get the hair wefts ready, it feels lightning fast to sew them on! Ralph's wig will be easy by comparison, and I've started working on the wefts for Bree's as well. I love her hair but it really does (literally) weigh her down. Since this is a brushed yarn wig (the fibers being at maximum length) it has a lot of volume and poof but it's really light. I never imagined that some ugly brown Red Heart yarn that I've had laying around for many years would turn into the perfect wig for Lucas! I'll try and remember to get more photos of the various stages that the yarn/wefts go through in case anyone is interested. One of the unexpected bonus' of how brushing the yarn out is I can do it until no more fibers come out. This is great because I can use a regular comb to brush his wig without it 'shedding'. A rather unexpected but cool bonus! The other part is all the yarn is hand-tied before it gets brushed, so it makes for some really solidly anchored hair! ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Doko Posted June 17, 2015 That wig(and Lucas) is really cool! I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. I'm also very interested in pictures of the various stages, or a tutorial if you make one.
SisterKyoya Posted June 19, 2015 Every time I look at his hair I can't help but to crack up, especially since he was bald for so long! I'm thinking it should only take 5 more wefts to finish the wig. 2 are finished & ready to be sewn on & the other 3 have already been cut and some of them separated. I'm thinking it will take another 4 hours of work before it's done & I'll take more pics once it's finished. I've got at least 4 more of these types of wigs to do, Ralph, Bree, the spare Kos-Mos head, and the mystery bald 'pre-rooted' head. So I've been thinking a lot on what steps are needed to explain it with a tutorial. Using premade wig fibers or premade wefts is definitely a LOT faster, but this type of fiber has some real benefits that you just can't get with the others. I went with the brushed yarn method because I needed the hair to stand up at the 'root' but still be able to droop over not too far out from the head and essentially be multi-directional. The wig fibers I tested before just didn't do that and just stuck straight out from the head, looking like a porcupine. Making wigs this way is way more time consuming than I'd like, but I can't deny that the results are interesting and the biggest bonus is that it's cheap. $5 for a skein of yarn, scrap fabric, leftover elastic for the headcap, a variable temp flat iron, a couple of 3" corner braces, a scrap piece of wood, & some binder clips (the last three are used to make a holder for tying the wefts.) So depending on what you may already have (I didn't even own a flat iron...) 'cheap' is a bit subjective. However I would have paid the same price if I had bought a wig from Leekeworld, but with the benefit of the wigs I made after that would be the cost of the yarn and maybe elastic if I didn't have any. Even the yarn I'm using is a smaller skein and I have about half of it still left. The material for the headcap can be made out of an old white t-shirt too. The tools is what makes it expensive the first time, but I know that Ralph is going to have wavy hair, so I don't even need the flat iron for his. I just remembered that at one point I thought about trying a regular iron instead of the flat iron, but the one I have has a smooth plate (no steam holes, and one I bought many years ago for sewing for that very reason.) So that info may or may not be useful since having 'bubble' marks (from the iron steam holes) would not be the desired effect. So in short, I'm thinking a lot about making a tutorial! ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
