Yo-Dd instead of Yo-Sd

Recommended Posts

He he its a thought i have since some month. Not the whole time but sometimes.

Everytime when i am searching for clothes at ebay i try the "SD dress" search. And than there are also

Yo-Sd clothes instead of Sd clothes, and everytime when this happens i think ... "Hmmm these Yo-Sd dresses are so cute, i want a yo-Sd" but than also a next thought poped out in my head "no no i dont like bjds a lot becuase of the string in these bodys."

So I want a Yo-DD ||D

But that would mean, we need new heads, because most of the heads we have are to big for MDD, than they are much to big for Yo-Dd ...

But what do you think about the whole thing?

I've had this thought too. I think the Yo-SD outfits are adorable, but I really prefer DDs to resins. A Yo-DD would be awesome!

YoSDs are super cute and I totally want one to be Nanako

It'd be cute to have YoDD; I agree that their clothes are super cute too.

The SQ Lab KSG body is stringed though. I think the point of a Yo-DD would be to have with a proper skeleton. ^^

In a body this small making DD-like skeleton + outer parts would be very problematic, and fragile due to very thin parts...

Why? It'd be like a Dollfie, only with different proportions and soft outer vinyl. Smaller dolls' skeletons have to be designed a bit differently, but they do exist.

Aw, what so bad about strung bjd? The limbs wont fall off/hang loose like MDD. And I like how real ball joints rotate smoothly for nice posing (as opposed to hinge joints or double joints)

If they can make soft-bust 27cm Obitsus with internal frames that don't break, it doesn't seem unreasonable that they could make an internal frame for something Yo-SD sized...

DD wrist is ~15mm, Yo-DD wrist will be around half of that, ie 8mm.

Vinyl has ~1mm thickness, so we'll have already only 6mm free, some air inside and the skeleton may be only ~4mm.

4mm ABS rod is quite strong, but problem will be with hand and feet pegs - they may have ~2mm in diameter and 1-2mm wall around it.

DD III had severe cracking issues with much thicker parts...

Of course, this is doable. But it will be more fragile than full resin casted arms. Simple law of physics

And 27cm Obitsus have full plastic arms, even the soft-bust ones.

Yup, but their soft busts do have an internal frame, and those things are tiiiiny:

And incredibly sturdy. I once accidentally dropped one off of a second-story balcony onto hard cement and the body wasn't damaged in the least, except for a few cosmetic scratches. Plus, I think the wrist pegs on the Obitsus are around 2mm in diameter and I've never had a breakage issue. And their forearms aren't that thick, either (prolly your 1-2mm range, especially on the smaller 21cm girls), so essentially a Yo-DD could just be a vinyl skin around Obitsu-sized joints.

If they can make 'em that small and that durable, I'm just not convinced that a Yo-DD would be too fragile to be a realistic option.

It's a difference of proportions. The 27cm obitsu on the market are fashion dolls, and the build reflects it. If you took the skeleton within a 27cm obitsu and put vinyl pieces over it for a Yo-Dd sized doll, the resulting doll would be a bit fragile. Even with changes to the skeleton, the only way to improve that would be to make pieces like the fore-arms and calves fully plastic to support the softer vinyl parts.

At this point, it seems extremely unlikely that Volks would ever release such a line, as there wouldn't be many characters that they would have to design this body for specifically to release. Most younger characters who would be this body type can work fine as an MDD aside from maybe Yotsuba.
