DD1 body

There's one for really cheap right now on Ebay... if it stays 150 or below I might be able to afford to make the plunge sooner than I thought! Does anyone have any experience with these bodies? Mitsuki maybe? It seems like Mitsuki's been in the hobby for a long time! Would it be worth it? I'm really itching to bring a girl home soon, I'd probably upgrade her to DDS when it becomes standard...

I had a DDI body that came with my Rei Ayanami and it is NOTHING like the DDII bodies.

It has no internal skeleton and is held together like resin dolls... this means it's strung together with cords ( strings ).

This limits the posability drastically. Standing them up is not easy unless you have a stand for them. Also, kneeling is about impossible to look decent. Sitting poses work well but they do tend to lean back a little far when doing it.

I'm not trying to downplay the DDI as being horrible or anything, I just want you to understand it's drawbacks. The DDII bodies are way easier to maintain and pose.

But as an entry level piece, you could go after it. Personally, I could only handle having the DDI on my Rei for about a month or so and then I upgraded her to a DDII body.

So if it were me, I'd wait and save up enuff for a DDII body. But that's just me.

I'd really like a DDS anyway, but looking at everyone's girls I'm not sure I can wait much longer! Of course, based on all of you, once I have a girl I'll start finding ways to afford the things she wants and needs... If you don't recommend it though, I think I'll only get it if the price stays low.

I have had this type of body for so long that they are very nostalgic to me. The bodyline is different from the DDII. I really like it. However, they are very hard to pose without a stand. I will take a video of my Mirai 2003 body and upload to flickr.

Here is the link to the video:

First version Dollfie Dream body

This is Shiori on first version DD Mirai's 2003 body. It is a tightly strung body, so it seems to pose well.

Sailormercury pose!

The first version DD body can make very dainty poses because of its more free movements at the hip and shoulder joint. However, it can't really hold things. To me, it is very cute.

Thanks so much Mitsuki! You really are an enabler, aren't you? If the price stays favorable, I think I'll have to get it!

Haha, I can't help it. I have to provide information. I can't resist requests for information I might have or be able to find.

Ahh, someone went seven dollars higher than I set my max bid! I should have checked... Another time, I hope!

I hope you can find an inexpensive body soon, Suzuna. I remember AlphaKitty saying how she kept losing things with a tiny margin like $5 or $1.

Oh, I like her! She seems a little plumper than DD II. For some reason I assumed it would be resin since it's strung like resin bjd - obviously not.

Thanks for sharing the photos Mitsuki!

Yes, thank you again. Now I know if I see one with a good buy it now, I can snag it without hesitation

I was wondering if there were people who liked the DD1 bodies, and why. Thanks for the information and pictures, Mitsuki.

It's like having a little piece of Volks history, isn't it?

I like how the DDI body looks but I can't stand how it poses. Regardless, after Christams this year, I'll finally have my old one back from my sister. Tsubaki is getting upgraded to the DDII body and I will get Rei's old DDI back. I won't make another girl with it tho, it will be like Mitsuki and seen as a piece of Volks history.

I think I would like to have a DD1. One of the most enjoyable parts of starting with dolls for me was stringing together Tomomi- It was also the toughest.
