From the Archives: Catback Riding

Here is a photo story I never got around to posting but I've made vague mention of once or twice (I doubt anyone would remember.) This was taken within the first month that I had Tamayuki. Often in my mind I refer to his pre-faceup pics as his baby pictures, and it has been really interesting to see him 'grow' from day 1 to his current state.

 

 

Tamayuki: "Giddy up Mr. MooseMoose!"

 

MooseMoose: *purrs contentedly*

 

 

Tamayuki: "If we keep up our training we can go to a kitty cat rodeo and I can ride you everywhere!" *giggles* "Mommy, why do kitties like their chins being scratched so much? Its kinda silly."

 

 

Tamayuki: "Guess what Dolly! I got to ride Mr. MooseMoose for a super long time! He is just so big and soft and fuzzy. He's the best kitty and he loves to snuggle."

 

Dolly: "Woah dude, that's just awesome!"

 

 

Tamayuki: "He was really nice and everything. He seemed really happy that I got to ride him just like a cowboy! Would that make me a kittyboy?"

 

Dolly: *snickers*

 

Tamayuki: "I got to ride him like a cowboy rides a horse bareback. Maybe Mommy can make me a kittyboy outfit with a hat and a vest and everything so I can wear it the next time Mr. MooseMoose lets me ride him. Mommy likes doing lots of projects, especially for me."

 

 

Tamayuki: "And I even got to put my head on him like this. He is super soft and fuzzy. It kinda tickled my nose."

 

 

Tamayuki: "The best part is he just stayed there! I got to be a kittyboy for fifteen whole minutes!"

 

Dolly: "Wow! He didn't get mad or anything?"

 

Tamayuki: "Nope. He's a super sweet kitty. He's my favorite. Lots better than the meaniepants Dimples. I don't like her."

 

 

Tamayuki: "Look, I still have MooseMoose hair on me!" *giggles*

 

Dolly: "That's awesome."

 

 

Tamayuki: "I know that Mommy scratching his chin made him stay calm and stuff, but I think he really likes me. Fluffy boy kitties are great!"

 

Dolly: "Do you think I could ride him too? He could be my get-away cat!" *mutters* "Then I wouldn't get caught so much..."

 

 

Tamayuki: "Whenever I put my hand out Mr. MooseMoose goes and rubs all over it. He really loves it when I scratch his head. I have to run around a little bit so he doesn't knock me over. He loves being petted that much!"

 

Dolly: "So... just stick my hand out like this? He won't bite me or anything will he?"

 

Tamayuki: "You might have to be careful because he gets really excited when he gets petted. He's super fluffy but he's also really strong. I think the muscles on his arms are bigger around than you are!"

 

 

Tamayuki: "He has a really poofy face but he's not fat at all. I wouldn't want him to sit on me because I couldn't escape! He has lots of muscles."

 

Dolly: "So he's like a bodybuilding cat. Awesome!"

 

 

Tamayuki: "I love him so much I just want to hug him all the time. He's the bestest kitty ever."

 

Dolly: "So he's like a trainable monster. Dude, that's totally cool." *claps*

 

 

Tamayuki: *looks dejected* "Mommy, where's my clothes?"

 

Dolly: *snickers*

 

Mommy: "I put them in the washer to get all the kitty hair off. Mr. MooseMoose made your clothes dirty."

 

Tamayuki: "But I wanted to keep the kitty hairs. They were my catback riding badges."

 

 

Mommy: "Will those clothes be good for now? Your other ones should be dry in a little while."

 

Tamayuki: "Yah, these are ok. They make me look kinda funny but they are MooseMoose colors so its ok. Can I go catback riding with MooseMoose tomorrow?"

Ooh! I like that Dollfie mount you have in the first two pics! Clearly a limited model, I wonder if I can find one on layaway somewhere.

 

All kidding aside, Tamayuki had the same reaction I did when I saw your cat, he is beautiful! He looks so gentle and sweet.

 

How did you pick out a name like MooseMoose for him? That is too cute!

 

Tamayuki is cute too, his hair and eyes suit him perfectly!

I have to say your first comment confused me a bit until I realised you were being silly. (That's just me being dense...) I couldn't figure out why you thought an 03 head was limited.

 

MooseMoose is such a goofy cat. He seriously loves Tama. Originally I wanted to call him Mr. Mustachio because of the mustache like markings on his face, but he literally glared at me every time I called him that. I think it was my husband, Ravendruid, who started calling him Moose. I thought it was funny because his personality reminds me of Moose from the Archie comics, big, kinda dumb, but mostly harmless. I wrote a little about him and our other cat Dimples in my journals for Japanese last quarter. Since then I often call him MusuMusu-san (ムスムスさん) because I had to write his name in Katakana.

 

Tama-chan is my little darling. He was the first DD to steal my heart and continues to everyday. Even so I find it strange that I have very few pics of him after his faceup was finished (college can do that.) I hope to start remedying that soon once I can get used to being out of school. The strangest thing to me about his pre-faceup pics is how pale his lips are. Sometimes I wonder if the chalk blushing I did makes much of a difference, but then I just have to look at the before pictures to know it makes a world of difference.

Hahaha! MooseMoose - a limited model dollfie stand that cracked me up. He is clearly unique, the only one of his kind, I doubt if he can be found anywhere else, so I guess all of us who wants one just like him will just have to admire his photos.

 

I love seeing the baby pics of Tama. He has always been an adorable little boy and having him and MooseMoose together is just too cute for words. I see Dolly was quite hyper and highly imaginative back then as he is now.

MooseMoose is so funny. I don't see him most of the day until he decides that it's time for me to pet him. Then he nearly glues himself to me, meows as loud as he can, demanding that I have to pay attention to him right now! He simply loves being petted but is super picky about his feet being touched. Even when I try his reaction is like he's saying "Ewww! Don't touch my feet! Icky!!" and he jerks them just far enough away so my finger isn't touching them. He has even allowed himself to be trained! When I'm holding him I can say "Can I have kisses?" and he will turn his head so I can kiss him on the cheek or the top of his head. He just loves it. You'd never guess that he was ever a stray cat, and he seriously seems to know how privileged he is. He is such a gentle little darling.

 

I can have Tama standing on the bed/holding him up with his hand out and Moose will almost dash across the bed so Tama can pet him and rub his fingers all over him. Our other cat Dimples is simply freaked out by the DD. She sees them standing nearby and runs off. This makes Yuriko mad because Dimples is very much Raven's cat (although she adored me when she was a kitten) and MooseMoose was supposed to be Raven's cat but Moose freaks when he's near because he walks really loudly. Moose's (almost) twin brother is freaked out by the sound of plastic grocery bags, so I'm not sure if the fear of loud things has to do with when they still lived outside.

 

By pure accident I ended up with Tama's baby pics. They are so awesome to look back on. His 'newborn' pics are so easy for me to identify because they were day 1, before clippie and I had his wig sitting really far back on his head in an attempt to keep the hair out of his eyes. This also gave him a bigger forehead like a baby. Day 2 is when he got clippy and stayed that way for 6 months without any major changes making those ones his toddler pics. After that is when I finally got his faceup done, then later when he acquired his real shoes and new clothes making him seem like he grew up a little bit more. I find it really interesting too that through Tama's pictures I can see my photography changing too and so that adds to the effect. I have a short photo story from day 1 with Tama and Dolly that I want to put in his belated Bday post. Dolly is really being Dolly and Tama is so shy and adorable!

 

Dolly... he's such a cad. Even the week he was here before Tama arrived, he was already being Dolly. The first time I told him I was going to make him some pants, he argued with me. He was beyond perfectly content to stay nude. Maybe that's why he wanted to stay bald. I told him that if he didn't have something covering his lower half that he couldn't be part of the excitement when Tama came. Of course Dolly didn't want to be left out. A few months ago I was trying to think about the specific kind of kimonos to make all of our DD, and Dolly's was a no brainer. He couldn't wear any style that wasn't a 'shogun lord' regardless of how tiny he is. Anything else just wouldn't be right.

I was surprised that he let Tama sit on him too but Moose was just like: who cares when I'm getting petted! *drool* He is such a teddy bear of a cat.

The first couple of times Tama put his hand out Moose casually attempted to bite Tama's hand but it got yanked away before he did. Once he realized that by doing that he wouldn't get petted he quit trying to bite. This cat seriously will do almost anything to get petted.

That's really neat that Moose loves Tama like that.

Every time I see or hear about a sweet cat like that, I want to get one five.

Tell Moose if he makes his way here to Canada, he will be petted and rubbed until his moustached face gets sore!

 

They are so funny together. I think once or twice Moose laid on top of Tama's legs when he was sitting on the bed.
