mangaemi Posted April 18, 2013 Recently got a 45cm boy Obitsu body - and he has magnetized feet. Have so much more appreciation for the ease of posing with that .. as he has no immediate need to just flop over due to gravity unlike my DDS, Yune. Has anyone done this? What does the inside of a DD foot look like? From the Volks page it looks like the replacements are just shells but I can't seem to get my DD's feet separated without going to find the hair dryer lol. What strength magnets could possibly help hold up a DD with it's head and maybe clothes? Where do you get these magnets? Is this just all wishfull thinking and wanting the best of both worlds?? XD I'm just so sick of the 'stands'.. and maybe this plan would only work with barefoot girls or with shoes that are very thin.. but still, a gal wants to dream! ♥ ★ ✮ ~ Amassing an army of Anime Cuties ~ ✮ ★ ♥ The Family: Sheryl, Ranka, Kirika, Arlex2, Yoko, Snow Miku, Haruka, Student Mariko, Prisma Illya, Akira, Maria, Cirno, Noumi, Asuna Titania, Sakuya on the way: want: Sailor Moon, Miki, Yukiho
shinegamix Posted April 18, 2013 you will have to use a hairdryer. they are that tight of a fit. the feet are dd2 in this pic. but thick the design should be more or less the same: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=44 as for magnets. i recommend using neodymium magnets. they come in sizes as smal as 1 mm cubes and are available in any radioshack type store. to be honest i have been thinking of doing thesame for some time now. but i no has time to do proper research with my job/school/life making my triumphant return
Jezrah Posted April 18, 2013 AFAIK, the III series feet are different though. My Saber Alter came to me with her ankle joint almost sideways, so I wasn't happy. I was told to just turn it, which I did. It didn't even occur to me to try to just turn it since the DDII had a whole skeleton down into the foot vinyl. Apparently the newer girls' feet are just hollow with the joint sticking out of the ankle or something.
TheWhiteRabbit Posted April 18, 2013 This site, http://www.kjmagnetics.com/ sells those neodymium magnets. Some of my Gk friends shop from there. They come in lots of sizes and are really strong. I don't know anything about mounting magnets in DD's, but the site may be of use Follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/WhiteRabbit887 Follow me on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/whiterabbitdolls?igsh=czQyZzRweG9hZDM2
katnaper Posted April 19, 2013 I havent done magnets but I did take apart a DD foot so I could use the skeleton in my 65 cms foot. I ll post ics later We have our own BLOG. katnaper Posted April 22, 2013 Sorry, this is late but here's a picture of the internals of the DD and Obitsu foot. It might help if for placements of the magnets. As you can see there are similarities to their structure. You might try taking off the bottom of the DD foot's skeleton and replacing it with magnets in such a way that its similar to the Obitsu magnets placement. Dunno if that helped at all but I thought a photo of the internals might give a better idea of the placement. We have our own BLOG. katnaper Posted April 22, 2013 would this be a dd2 or a dd3 foot? Hmmm... can't quite remember. DD2 I believe since the end of the connecting tube isn't as rounded as the DD3's. I pulled off Nero's foot and compared it to Asuka's foot. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Pistachio Posted May 1, 2013 This sounds like it would be an awesome project since I also adore the Obitsu magnetic feet. If anyone ever does this I'd love to see pictures/a tutorial. Not sure I'd venture to do it on my own without some sort of guidance though.
