waha Posted April 22, 2013 I figured I'd create this thread to try and collect some useful information on this awesome body, and provide further details on where to get neck pieces et cetera! The body The body uses the Obitsu 50cm internal skeleton, with modified pieces by Parabox to make it smaller. Compared to the MDD3 body it's slightly shorter. This normally isn't an issue since most MDD outfits are made to fit both MDD and MSD bodies which differ slightly in size. The same is true for the feet which are slightly larger on the Parabox body. Speaking of the feet, on the Parabox body they have magnets in them, and the body comes with a black metal base which helps a lot for posing. Visually the Parabox body is a tiny bit different, the biggest difference being the double jointed knees (and knee cap), and the elbow joint (and cap). If you keep your girls all dressed up most you most likely won't even notice them! (Or you might even grow to like them!) Compared to the MDD3 body the joints on the Parabox body are quite a bit stiffer, which lets them hold heavier objects and maintain poses better. Skintone The Parabox body comes in a single skintone that Obitsu dubbed "whitey". It's a bit more white than the normal skin DDs, but nowhere near the white skins. DD WS, MDD NS, Obitsu whitey. (Pardon the cat hairs, my cat decided to walk across just before I took this) In my own experience you don't really notice the difference between DD NS and Obitsu whitey much. Especially not as a lot of DD NS heads don't match the NS bodies very well. Option parts The Parabox body shares the hand parts with the Obitsu 50cm body, and there are 6 different hands available (including the default ones) It is also possible to use MDD hands on them, but it varies a bit from batch to batch how well they fit. One pair of my MDD hands fit perfectly, and another are a bit too large and requires sticky tack to hold well. Won't be a problem if you're a bit creative. The body is available with S and L busts, and they can also be purchased separately, and there's also an high-heel feet option available, not to mention you can buy every single piece of the body separately should you need to repair it. I don't have an L bust piece so I can't do a comparison right now. Neck joint The Parabox body shares the neck joint with the Obitsu 50cm body and will unfortunately not fit DD heads unless you get creative. The easiest solution is to venture onto Yahoo Japan Auctions and purchase a neck joint by an user named Grayforce; he makes all kind of neck joints, including replacement ones for regular DD, DD3, and MDD bodies. http://openuser.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/user/Grayforce The one you want is the one named "DDヘッドをオビツ50/vmf50ボディに 変換首ジョイント (自作品)" priced at 1500yen, with a buy it now of 1700yen. Don't worry if you don't see one, he usually puts up new ones within 24-48 hours after them selling out. And he also does special orders should you need more than the 2 he puts up at a time! There's also a few other people on Yahoo Japan Auctions, including some really heavy duty expensive ones that I have no experience with, but also some cheaper ones that I unfortunately tried out. The joint in these were so stiff the one broke when I tried moving it, not to mention the part that slides into the Parabox frame is made of soft plastic tube compared to hard plastic on the Grayforce joint. Not recommended unless you like flushing down money in the toilet (Which I apparently I do, as I bought four of them). Another method is to get creative and modify the default neck joint with a longer screw. I did it once before I had a Grayforce neck joint and ended up using a spare screw from my Ikea kitchen. While this method works pretty well I just prefer the extra movement provided by the Grayforce joint so I only keep this one as a backup. Installing the neck joint On some bodies you can simply just pull the old neck joint straight up and it'll come loose. Unfortunately on some it'll be nigh impossible. I've found the best solution then is to take a pair of pliers and grabbing the neck joint and just twisting while pulling upward. You'll damage the plastic on the neck joint but if you were planning on replacing it with another neck joint that hardly matters (At least that's my take on it!) Outfits As mentioned earlier most outfits made for MSD/MDD will fit this body. I've got one MSD outfit that won't fit the body, but neither will it fit a MDD body either as it seems to be made for some super slim MSD body variant. I've also been told the camisole from Kudo's default outfit won't fit either but then again that outfit was tailor made for her body. Where to buy You can purchase Parabox bodies directly from their webshop. In my own experience they provide rock solid service and usually ship out your order 24-48 hours within placing the order. Payment is done via Paypal, and they ship with EMS. The bodies can be found at http://www.parabox.jp/eng_new/40_body.html and for some reason they don't list all the hand option parts under the 40cm parts page, so just venture to the 50cm parts page at http://www.parabox.jp/eng_new/50_parts.html and pick your hands. They also provide a discount based on how much you order, by ordering a single body you instantly hit the second highest discount which is 8%. To get the highest one which is 10% you need to order for over 30,000yen which is easy to do should you want two bodies. Todo Add more comparison photos! waha is lazy! Tieren Posted April 22, 2013 Last year I bought a 50cm head adapter from greyforce. I have since given it away because I haven't gotten around to buying a parabox body yet but I was wondering if that piece would have worked okay with a parabox 40 body or if I needed to buy something labeled as MDD instead. Based on your article it seems that the one I had would be okay for a 40cm body too.
Nekopon Posted April 22, 2013 What an awesome guide! I've been thinking about getting a P40 body but I didn't know what to look out for. This is perfect, thank you! ^____^

SisterKyoya Posted April 25, 2013 I've ordered from the Parabox website before (45cm Obitsu boy body + hands) and I had no problems whatsoever. Personally I find the default neck joint weird and kinda annoying. Thank you for the link to the better ones! I really hope to get a 40cm this year so Bree will finally get to come out and play. I miss my goofy little girl. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
baldylox Posted April 25, 2013 I plan to upgrade Minako from her original MDD body to an Obitsu 45cm with L-bust. I'll also get hands for it and the neck adapter. If things go well and I like the new body style, I'll also upgrade Kino and Hitomi to 40cm bodies.... I want them to be a little shorter than Minako, I think it will be cute to have them like that. Now to just save up the moolah for the 45 and get it inbound! Then Minako can grow up a hair and Hitomi can go back onto an MDD body. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
OhnoRaptors Posted April 25, 2013 Just what I've been looking for! As I want... many MDD-sized girls. ^^ Awesome write up, thank you!
SisterKyoya Posted April 25, 2013 I plan to upgrade Minako from her original MDD body to an Obitsu 45cm with L-bust. I really would recommend this. The more I mess with the 45cm body the more I'm getting attached to it. It is SO great for posing with the solid joints. I finally decided to have Rainie on an Obitsu body because with the magnet feet and the non-floppy joints she could do a lot of 'action shot' poses without it being a pain in the rear. Personally I'm not fond of stands in pics, so being able to easily hide the metal base when Rainie is standing is really great. Even through thin foamboard the strength of the magnet's grab doesn't noticeably change. Rainie currently has the MDD S bust on hers so the shoulder joints stick out a lot more than they otherwise would. I also really love the option to have minor height differences between the DD rather than the drastic jumps in heights with the Volks bodies. Having DD of very fixed heights like that makes them seem a bit more like cookie cutter Barbies in my head than the unique characters they are. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

Since the neck piece on the 40/45 and 50 is the same piece, and the only difference between it and the neck piece on the Obitsu 60 is the length of the 'body' of the neck piece, you really should have no trouble using the stick Para-bitsu neck piece. There's a topic about using Obitsu 60 neckpieces with DD heads. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6851#p106593 I know that this method will work with the shorter neck piece in the 50cm Obitsu as well. Do moving a DD or MDD head to a 40/45 or 50 should not be a problem. I'm almost certain it works on SQ Labs also. There was no way I could get the peg from the Obitsu neck joint through and manage to attach it with the default screw. Others have failed as well, so I think it depends on the head. Highlander Posted April 26, 2013 If it's a vinyl head, you can stretch the opening with a small screwdriver or some other tool, the vinyl will stretch temporarily, allowing the neck piece to be inserted. I have 2 Miu's, a Volks #6 (Asuna - my Avatar picture), a Yoko, a Volks #2, a Volks #1 and a Volks #7 all mounted on Obitsu 60cm bodies. Misheru (the better looking half of H&M House of Vinyl) has Miu on a Yamato VMF 50, Akira on Obitsu 50, a Volks #7 on Obitsu 55, a Volks #1 on a Yamato VMF 50, a Volks #6 on Obitsu 50, a Volks #4 on an Obitsu 50 and a Yukino on Obitsu 65 (same neck piece as Obitsu 60). Oh my, I never realized how many hybrids we have like this... In all but one of the cases, I had to slightly stretch the opening right before putting the neck piece in place. The vinyl quickly resumes it's original size which works to your advantage as it grips the stem of the neck piece. You wouldn't have comparison pics (maybe even with DD bodies) posted somewhere would you? I would find it immensely helpful, especially because I wondered what the 07 would look like on the male or female 60cm, but had no idea how it would compare to the DD/DDS heights. I'm really bad at taking height measurements and converting them into visual equivalents. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

waha Posted April 27, 2013 You should probably make a 60cm body information thread then, and let this remain purely for the minis.
aquilla429 Posted April 27, 2013 This thread is brilliant, well written, informative and has picture references. What more could you want. As an obitsu 50 owner and knowing that this body uses the same frame I can only imagine the p40 is an equally awesome body. I actually prefer it to the MDD body looks wise and if I ever get a 40cm dd, she will go on a p40 body without a doubt! nogo171 Posted May 30, 2013 Thank you for the post, was really helpful. This definitely me have me to get the 40 and 45 body for my upcoming SQ lab heads since I heard that the proportion of SQ lab and Parabox looks real good . Was totally looking forward to get the two bodies until I realized that the 40 was all sold out . Any one have any idea on how long it will take Parabox to re stock the body. I hope they do better jobs than Volks otherwise I will have to end up purchasing parts . Actually have any one really bothered to do a math to see if buying parts will be cheaper or more expensive than the full set? waha Posted May 30, 2013 Parabox generally restocks sold out bodies within 2 weeks, so just have a bit of patience. Buying the body in parts isn't really recommended as it'll be quite a bit more expensive >_<.
