Because it's all user-generated content. Anyone could make any subreddit, like /r/catsonglass exists, which is pictures of cats sitting on glass tables and stuff. Yuan Posted May 2, 2013 It's a massive chain of 'subreddits' - think individual forum sections, each is user-made and content is posted by users. It used to be mostly just news and science but it's branched out to include basically everything. You can customize your experience to show only topics you're interested in, but because anyone can create a subreddit stuff runs from mild, to weird to completely offensive.
