Anna-neko Posted May 14, 2013 And he just told me to stop it, I couldn't possibly feel it and I would just scare the other patients.... I wrote out a check to pay the @#$/"^ with shaking hands, and my mom took me to her house. The novocaine kicked in 20 minutes later when I was getting iced tea from McDonald's. oh lordy, thats crazy!! Kinda reminds me of my root canal, when during the 2nd appointment while the doc was up to his elbows in my jaw and made a fantastic discovery that the last alive nerve in there was far too raw and it hurt something insane Then again, nothing can compare to the terror & pain of having your tooth filed. With what appears to be a metal nail-fail snaked around the dentist's bloody fingers...
Coco Posted May 15, 2013 Wow, this is the reason I don't see the dentist anymore. D: I'm such a pansy when it comes to procedures, and I am terrified of needles, and they make me unpleasantly ill. I had a cavity drilled and filled once without novocaine, because I was afraid of getting a needle in my mouth. Happily, last time I had x-rays, the doctor told me I had 3 wisdom teeth that had no signs of impaction or trouble. He said to just have them removed before I was 23, which I didn't. The downside is that sometimes I bite my cheek way in the back when I sleep, which leads to sores sometimes. But they're good for chewing really tough things. I figure when I'm old, I'll have need for the extra teeth.
Nelly19 Posted May 15, 2013 Am back to work, still hurts a bit but the swelling done to a little bump on my jaw bone, and my gum rejected the stitches.... which is creept, they just fell out. Coco Posted May 15, 2013 Whoa, they just fell out? Did they fall out one by one, or did the entire lot fall out at once? O_O
Nekopon Posted May 15, 2013 I'm glad you're okay, Jezrah! What crazy people! I thought I could trust my dentist since I've been there for over 10 years but now, I have doubt... Nelly19, I'm back to work too... it's really sore, especially when I drink water. I have a huge swelling on my cheek and jaw. I hope your "part 2" won't be too bad! >__<
Jezrah Posted May 15, 2013 I'm glad you're okay, Jezrah! What crazy people! I thought I could trust my dentist since I've been there for over 10 years but now, I have doubt... Haha well I think normally a well known dentist is ok and won't go crazy on you. I think mine had a sort of mid life crisis or something when his partner died, since it wasn't sickness or old age, it was murder... It was a big scandal for quite a while. They convicted someone of it, his separated wife's state trooper boyfriend or something ludicrous... Even small towns aren't necessarily safe. http://en.m.wikinews.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_state_trooper_found_guilty_of_first-degree_murder Sorry, I got OT even for the Off Topic section. Nelly19 Posted May 16, 2013 Whoa, they just fell out? Did they fall out one by one, or did the entire lot fall out at once? O_O Well am pretty sure the dentist put in three stitches, i think i swallowed 2 during all the swelling and the last one just came out the front of my mouth, i didnt notice till that one dropped out on Sunday, which is when my swelling was down enough to open my mouth :S i mean it not a hole its like a flap thing going on now :s i asked my mom if its normal and she was like usually they part in the gums dissolves and the ends drop off....i am pretty sure that didnt happen to me. Right now i have this dull pain coming from my jaw bone and am still not able to eat solids on the right side as yet. @Nekopon Thanks : me too, i dont think my jaw can handle more trauma like this or bone cutting. Hope you heal faster and better than me. I know for sure am hoping the 2 at the top NEVER come in. @Anriko NIIIICCCCEEE, its like where's waldo lol. does that happen alot? Hollowed wisdom teeth i mean? Learning that its safe outside my shell too
Anriko Posted May 16, 2013 @Anriko NIIIICCCCEEE, its like where's waldo lol. does that happen alot? Hollowed wisdom teeth i mean? No idea, I was groggy and didn't think to ask. I got pretty lucky when I had them all taken out; no complications or anything, I just slept off and on for two days.

Nelly19 Posted May 16, 2013 I have to get all 4 of mine out and reading all this makes me want to hide from the oral surgeon, sounds terrible @.@;; Oh dear, dont worry, i looked in my mouth today and saw that both top wisdom teeth are already outside the gums, and large, so i have to now get 3 instead of one more removed You wont feel the procedure and hopefully you heal fast. Poofiemus Posted May 16, 2013 I have to get all 4 of mine out and reading all this makes me want to hide from the oral surgeon, sounds terrible @.@;; You know, it's funny--before a surgery, all these stories sound utterly horrifying, but after it's over, it's just sort of fact, with a lot of the emotion just sort of gone. Just stock up on soups and smoothies beforehand, because you probably won't feel like going out to get them afterwards, and don't try to write fiction when on your painkillers because you'll never be able to sort out what you were trying to say. Then, after it's over and you've recovered, you can hop into this thread and traumatize the next batch of people who need teeth taken out. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser. hihihellokitty Posted May 29, 2013 @Nelly19: I better get mine pulled bfore they come out of the gum too >,<. Thanks I hope you heal fast too! @Poofiemus: That's true . I'll make sure I stock up, and jello too ! I know the feeling haha, last time I tried drawing on painkillers and things got pretty weird and ugly >u>;; LOL will do xD
AntElitist Posted May 30, 2013 This thread spells out "Pain" for me Should I be scared? I haven't had any wisdom tooth growing in my mouth. However, if you want to talk about pain, I have something else to talk about though. Ever tried getting your bone (Any bone, except in my case, it is pelvic) drilled to have a bone marrow test? Well, it is a no brainer that you can't have any painkiller for bone because it how do you apply pain killer to bones? Lol. So I had mine drilled and I was like "OMFG WTF I WANT TO DIE. THIS IS TOO PAINFUL" After that incident, whatever bone marrow test I am going to undergo I will request for a GA (General Anesthetic) lol.
Jezrah Posted May 30, 2013 I've never had that done, but my mom did just recently. But they weren't happy with the quality of the first sample, so they did it a second time in the one day...
Anna-neko Posted May 30, 2013 This thread spells out "Pain" for me Ever tried getting your bone (Any bone, except in my case, it is pelvic) drilled to have a bone marrow test? no.... I've had broken bones tho! One of which they couldn't "fix" for 3 days because of insurance referrals limbo and then it was the weekend That pain varies in degrees, but gets crazy when they try to make you turn the limb over to X-ray it from both sides

DivinitaAria Posted December 1, 2013 I know this is a really old thread, but I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled in December. The day after my 21st birthday All four are impacted, I was told I could have nerve damage, I'm absolutely terrified!! I'm being put under though. My biggest fear is waking up all loopy and saying things that I don't want my mom to know Experiences with waking up groggy and saying weird things? Anna-neko Posted December 1, 2013 Experiences with waking up groggy and saying weird things? My personal experience was being hella sleepy for 2 days afterwards. The stuff really didn't wanna leave my system Like here's what I remember - goin to the dentist and them sticking at IV in my arm. Then passing out for a while... then a very fuzzy memory of not-quite-but almost waking up & tryin to close my mouth but feeling something block it on the side (gonna guess was coming outta it while they were still working on me) After tryin to chew thru this blocking thing for a bit.. pass right back out I know mom drove me home, but have absolutely no memory of this! None! And the rest of day and the next couldn't stay awake for more than 10 minutes, and just kept falling asleep again
Ruko Posted December 1, 2013 You guys are lucky to be able to find a place that will put you to sleep. I had mine done about 2-3 years ago and I could not find a dentist that still put you to sleep so they gave me some pills(I forget what it was) to take before my appointment so I was totally out of it but could still feel them cutting into my jaw I just didn't care O_o. It was an experience I hopefully wont ever have to have again . . . Ebuki(SWS DDdy DDH7)
Anna-neko Posted December 1, 2013 Ruko, u mean they gave you anti-anxiety pills? They like to give those things before some procedures to make you super-mellow and not care 'bout a thing (you still get anesthetics during the thing, just local instead of la-la land)
Ruko Posted December 2, 2013 Im not sure what it was ... it was 2 pills I had to take one the night before and then the second one like 30min before the procedure. they gave me the injections too but I have like super sensitive nerves or something I even had issues after having root canals done. I still felt pain when they were cutting into my jaw . But anyways thats why I had told them I wanted to be put out but there aren't any in my area who do it still. DivinitaAria Posted December 2, 2013 They gave me xanax to take before the procedure. Good thing or else I will be too freaked out to go to the dentist. I don't mind sleeping for days, that sounds like it could be nice Rise - Rise // Rise #2 - Rise // Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) Waiting on: DDH-25 for custom Akechi 🥰
DivinitaAria Posted December 18, 2013 So, I had my wisdom teeth extracted yesterday and it went way better than expected The xanax I took prior to the surgery was a life saver. The nerves were gone and I was so chill. Once the oxygen mask thing was on and the IV was in I was out like a lamp. I have no recollection of the surgery, just waking up and the dentist dude asking me questions to see if I was back in the real world hah. I feel pretty good right now and ate whole foods (probably not a good idea haha). Quillis Posted December 18, 2013 Ugh, I'm pretty sure I need to get at least two of my wisdom teeth removed. The bottom ones are above the gum and the left one is in poor shape. I have no idea what the other two are up to. I can't feel them, but they worry me. The problem is, I haven't been to a dentist in waaaay too long, and I'm in a new area with no dental contacts, as it were. And for some reason, I've gone and read through this thread so of course I'm terrified. D: DivinitaAria, I really hope I have a similar experience to yours when I inevitably get mine out. ;A; I guess I don't mind being conscious, but I'd rather see and feel absolutely nothing.
