Maou ZEnigame Posted May 9, 2013 I'm a total newbie to this, and I have a DDH-01 head coming in soon. Could someone recommend me a good wig seller or the like? Also, any tips on wig maintenance and avoid staining are welcome.
baldylox Posted May 9, 2013 Hello! Glad to hear you have an 01 head coming in, I love those. As for wigs, you can try several places.... Cool Cats Miruya Leeke World Those are the big ones that people use a lot. To help with keeping dark wigs from staining your girls head, use a cloth wig cap. You can also use silicone caps but those don't protect form stains. I've seen wigs stain right thru those many times. You can use a silicone cap under the cloth one to help hold the cloth one on and then put the wig on top of those, lots of people do that too. Hope that helps you out. jadepixel Posted May 9, 2013 I really like Leeke wigs, they are usually good quality and consistent fit. Luts (http://www.eluts.com/index.php) has similar quality wigs but less selection. Also if you're worried about staining, For My Doll (http://formydoll.com/index.php) has nice wigs with light-colored wig caps that don't stain. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
DivinitaAria Posted May 9, 2013 I think Volks' wigs might be my favorite, but I would personally suggest checking for them second hand before paying like..$50 for one. Yukamina Posted May 9, 2013 There's also Crobidoll wigs http://crobidolls.com/shop/step0.php?b_code=B20080525084138&c_code=C20080525084214 I bought a couple wigs from Coolcat, but I thought the quality wasn't as nice as the other sites mentioned. And I think many people don't find Volks wigs to be good quality (though I have no personal experience). My favorite wigs are from Leekeworld, Luts, and Crobidoll. Poofiemus Posted May 9, 2013 (Just-in-case reminder: Size 8-9 is what you want to look for. With an 01 you *might* be able to get away with a 9-10 with a silicone cap.) I've got three Leeke wigs between my two girls. Definitely like them! Though some of their wigs are thicker than others evidently, and their bangs are *always* long; I suppose it's better they're too long since then you can (and are maybe even supposed to) trim them. I do have one Volks wig, from Nanoha's fullset that I break out from time to time. At least on that wig they did a really nice job, but if you stumble on Sakuno's or Saber Lily's secondhand be warned those two are a bit fragile. Another brand that hasn't been mentioned is Monique Gold. I don't own any of their wigs myself, but I've seen them in person. They're incredibly soft! Really fine fibers, so I think the shorter ones are a bit more manageable than the longer ones. I've also been oggling Wigs2Dolls, though I haven't ordered from them at this point. Really wide color selection. No matter what wig you get, if it comes in a net, keep that net. Those hair nets are a godsend when it comes to storing and transporting wigs. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

My favorite has to be Ginger. I had to give it extra care or else the curled fibers tangled. Also, I find that certain styles/colors suit some dolls... My issue with Leekeworld is that they seem to be almost hit or miss? I have a couple favorites that are fantastic quality wise where as others are just...bleh. I've heard a lot of nice things about Crobidoll but have no experience with them. So far I've just had better luck with quality and consistency of Volks. TheWhiteRabbit Posted May 10, 2013 I've had good luck with for my doll http://formydoll.com/index.php Their heat resistant wigs are nice and soft and size 8-9 fit all 3 of my girls (DDH01, DDH02, DDH05) with or without a wig cap. Priced well too! baldylox Posted May 11, 2013 I totally forgot about Monique Gold! My Yoko's short wine colored wig is from them and so is Mamimi's little pigtail wig. They're both super soft and very low maintenance, prolly two of the nicest wigs I own. As for Volks wigs, the defaults for characters are usually nice but the ones you buy like the one Manami uses most of the time, can be a bit crap. I've had to buy 2 wigs for her now due to them getting frizzy and brittle feeling. I make sure not to get her wig dirty but Manami DOES go outside A LOT and I wahs the wig as per Volks instructions. So I'm not sure why her particular wig style keeps getting like this but it sure does bug me when I've had Yoko's MG wig for almost 3 years now with no issues at all.
