"Realistic Anime" Style

I was looking at a customizer's blog today and admiring their work:

 

 

 

Both are DDH-07 heads. :>

 

I don't see styles like this done that often on DD, but realistic anime styles are definitely popular when it comes to the shows that come out every season. I was wondering what other people thought of this kind of style for DD painting? It's not quite the style you see on resin BJDs because it still has an anime flair to it-- it's just not moe style.

I would love this if the lower lashes didn't have so much separation from the eye. I like a solid lash line.

Going for hybrid style, I'd prefer the face up without the white dot on the cheeks though lol

I really like this style, but I agree with Suzuna; maybe the lashes can look even better with some lower liner?

Actually, having the lower eyelashes away from the eye is a common style in more "mature"-looking animes. Can't come up with a example now, but many animes I'm watching have their characters' lower eyelashes like that. Although, there's usually a line connecting all the lashes.

 

I like how they look, it still fits but isn't how ordinary face-ups are.

They happen to be one of my favorite customizers of all time actually >< so I have nothing but praise for them.

I really love the more mature look this style gives and am planning to do something similar when I customize my Haruka Niimi.

As soon as I saw the style, it reminded me of some of yours Chien. As lovely as they are, I must say that I prefer your style...but they are beautiful.

 

I like the combination of realistic and anime because I collect both Obitsus and DDs so my collection already blurs the line in some cases. I really like this concept.

I think separated from the eye slightly but with liner would look good, too. It just looks a little off being far away AND having no liner, though

I really love this style- this is the kind of thing I was thinking of getting for my girls when they get home I prefer this to the normal style, for my own dolls

I really love those face-ups and they're so cute.

Even though Dollfie Dreams already have anime style, I find these face-ups actually more realistic looking then anime style, except for the blush.

I am in love with them both! I love the cute little blush with the white dots. *Grabby hands for them*

Oooh! It does look cool! To be honest, I am more of an anime anime style (?) fan, but I agree this is beautiful.

Some people act like anime comes in one style only, I find that strange!

Anime comes in so many styles, I enjoy seeing DDs in these different styles :3

When I first got into BJDs, I thought of them like anime brought to life (3D, whatever), like a less literal interpretation of anime style, or like many anime-esque illustrations I see.
