SisterKyoya Posted May 16, 2013 I have a lot of the MDD size kids I'm trying to figure out what size they should be, but simply looking at measurements doesn't give me accurate pictures in my mind to work from. I currently have an MDD and an Obitsu 45cm boy body. I would really love it if I could get a side by side comparison pics of any of the Obitsu girls between the 40cm-48cm range. No shoes please (it defeats the purpose of having the pics for a 'visual measurement') and please state the height of the girls. I really don't know who has a bunch of the different Obitsu heights so I figured that this would be the easiest way to ask. Thank You! ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Janeway Posted May 16, 2013 This would be cool to see as well. I only have the obitsu 45cm girl (they made a girl now) and l wouldn't mind see this size with the new MMD3.
baldylox Posted May 16, 2013 I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're after but it's all I have. I recently got my Minako an Obitsu 45cm L-bust body ( RIGHT before my darn car died on me T_T ) and I'm still waiting on her neck adapter to arrive. This is why I haven't shown any pics of her yet on her new body. But I took this the other night while chatting with Waha about the body. This shows Elisabeth on the DDII M-bust body, Minako on the Obitsu 45cm L-bust body and then a naked original MDD M-bust body. Elisabeth is in heels so she's a bit taller than flat footed but the Obitsu and MDD are both flat footed. Untitled by balldylox, on Flickr Hopefully that gives you some idea of the difference in height and shape. Once I get that neck piece in, I'll do a much more in depth photoshoot of the differences in bodies so people can see. And yes, I'm now an Obitsu small body convert. The 45cm is VASTLY superior to the original MDD body, it's not even a contest. It's sturdier, more posable, better made and just all around awesome. I can't wait to get some spare time to do some photos of it. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Janeway Posted May 16, 2013 baldylox that picture is cool and thanks. Have you tryed MDD or Luts kid delf clothes on your obitsu 45cm girl? Do you think a volks #6 head would look good on a obitsu 45cm girl?
baldylox Posted May 16, 2013 baldylox that picture is cool and thanks. Have you tryed MDD or Luts kid delf clothes on your obitsu 45cm girl? Do you think a volks #6 head would look good on a obitsu 45cm girl? I'm glad it helped some! As for clothing, that Volks MDD set she's wearing above is the only outfit I've had on her so far. And I don't own any Luts outfits to try on for you. But once I get her neck adapter piece in and installed, I'll be taking lots of pics of Minako on her new body and comparing them to the old MDD body. I think an 06 would look very cute on this body! It's a little taller than the MDD's are but it's still way shorter than the DDII and DDS bodies so the girls still look very young and childlike on it. Once I get my car situation taken care of and have some money again, I'll be replacing the other two MDD bodies I have with the 40cm Obitsu bodies since I like these so much more than the MDD ones. Janeway Posted May 16, 2013 baldylox thanks and that's good that MDD clothes do fit. My Rini is wearing a MDD coolcat bodystocking and it fits good on her. That well be my next doll plan is to put an volks head on a obitsu 45cm girl body. I'v heard that the MDD bust's fit the obitsu 45cm girl body as well without any mods. You'll need a neck adapter for sure if you use a DD head, I've got one heading to me now but I modified the stock Obitsu one for now just to see what Minako looked like. As she looks now, her head is SUPER loose and it bugs me to no end. But I should have the good adapter by Saturday and she can be whole. I like the L-bust I got with the Obitsu as it's just a little larger than the MDD M-bust is. I want Minako to be a little taller and maybe a year older than her sister MDD's so it works out well for me. I didn't know you could swap busts on these with the Volks piece so that's good to know! Janeway Posted May 16, 2013 baldylox I'm not sure were l heard that info about the MDD bust's but l'm going to try it when l'v saved some money to do so etc. How did you get your neck adapter for your obitsu 45cm girl?
baldylox Posted May 16, 2013 How did you get your neck adapter for your obitsu 45cm girl? Waha helped me order one off YJA from a seller called "Grayforce". He usually has 1 or 2 of them up on auction for 1700 yen BIN. I bought one thru the proxy "FromJapan" and after all the shipping and fees, it cost me about $35 USD. Not cheap but still about the price of one of those Cool Cats aluminum neck pieces. It's shipped and shows as arriving here in the US yesterday. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes it arrives on Saturday so I can complete Minako and have her all fixed up and ready for pics. SisterKyoya Posted May 17, 2013 I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're after but it's all I have. Thank you for the picture. Ideally I was hoping for sizes that weren't the 45cm, but I actually don't think I've seen an MDD naked who wasn't an S bust so it was still really helpful. It is actually the 40cm vs MDD and the 48cm vs 45cm that I was most interested in. I'm really thinking about making Bree a 40cm because even the MDD body seems a tiny bit too tall, but I'm also hoping that the Obitsu neck will be bigger than the MDD neck (Tama's 45cm boy bust piece is) so her head won't look oddly out of proportion, even though it is. I'm also thinking about a taller body for Rainie but I didn't know what would be better, the 47cm or the 48cm if her little brother Ralph is on the 45cm boy body. Tama could have made my life a lot simpler if he wasn't supposed to be short. Now every one of the smaller DD I get has to pass the "what height are they in reference to Tama" test so he can keep his short status. He and Ralph are the same age, so of course Ralph, Rainie , and another one all have to be adjusted to fit him. Even Eddie is going to be a 40cm because Tama-chan pretty much threw a royal fit when he realized Eddie might be an MDD. Poor Tama really doesn't like Eddie, but I'm afraid that Eddie might think that he's his best friend. Hopefully that gives you some idea of the difference in height and shape. Once I get that neck piece in, I'll do a much more in depth photoshoot of the differences in bodies so people can see. Even though I've seen both personally, I'd still be really interested to see what you have to say. And yes, I'm now an Obitsu small body convert. The 45cm is VASTLY superior to the original MDD body, it's not even a contest. It's sturdier, more posable, better made and just all around awesome. I can't wait to get some spare time to do some photos of it. I was telling Raven the other night that if you want pretty bodies go with Volks, but if you want sturdy and reliable bodies, go with Obitsu (at least for MDD alternatives and I'd still love to get an MDDIII to see what's changed). It's just my personal opinion on the matter but the Obitsu body sculpts leave something to be desired in the aesthetics department. Even so I'm constantly hounding the Parabox website. I really do love the MDD bodies but those joints, ug! I've had to do constant maintenance on Tama's body even before he reached his half birthday. It gets so floppy that it could almost make a great marionette. Even with all of that, I'm not willing to give up on it. I've been figuring out how to use Shapeways (3D printing) and getting accurate measurements so I can make him replacement parts most importantly for his ankles and the internal ring that holds the upper body to the lower body. They have a white plastic material that is heat resistant up to 170F (I think) so doing the rit dye may be an option too. I'd love to make some more wrist pieces so each pair of the hands could have one, making changing the hands much faster when trying to do photos. I've even thought about making a little adapter to fit inside the MDD hands so they work with the Obitsu wrist joints without popping off or continually twisting weird. I'm also working on a draft of my own Obitsu neck piece for the DD heads just so it isn't a huge pain in the rear to get those. It will be interesting to see if it would work. There is so many possibilities with 3D printing and DD stuff, especially because Shapeways can do glazed ceramics! As for the clothes fitting the 45cm bodies, it really depends on what the outfit is. With short sleeve dresses the longer arms and legs aren't noticeable, but with long-sleeve shirts and pants it gets really obvious that they don't fit properly simply because of the length of the clothes. If the Volks sleeves, shirt length, and pants leg length was longer, they would fit just great. So I'd assume that the dresses and whatnot would most of the time fit without issue. Tama on the 45cm boy body. One of the reasons Tama hates this body is because when he wears a lot of his normal clothes, it looks like he grew out of them. I think the longer Obitsu hands affect this as well. Tama on the MDD body I'v heard that the MDD bust's fit the obitsu 45cm girl body as well without any mods. I'm not sure about the girl body, but I know I can put the MDD S bust on the Obitsu boy body because that's what Rainie usually is. I however cannot say that it's without modification. The S bust is a very tight squeeze over the Obitsu frame, and the MDD neck is so narrow that the Obitsu neck piece cannot be used. I had to take a couple of pieces off of the internal frame to have somewhere to loop some sewing elastic through, run it through the neck, and up through the hole in the bottom of the head before tying it around part of a popsicle stick to get Rainie's head to stay on. Even then it flops around a lot. You need some stable neck adapter for it to work. the only other issue I've had is a very minor one where the internal skeleton leaves a small bump on her back, but it really isn't noticeable unless you are looking for it. The Cool Cats neck piece was designed for the Volks skeleton so I don't think it would work. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
