di-chan123 Posted June 27, 2011 I found this tutorial quite recently and it works out pretty nicely. I just haven't figured out how to make the bottom part look nice without it looking a bit like a really short dress. http://dorriebelle.tripod.com/id30.html (yea, it;s a disney doll, but all you need is the shoulder cirbleepference x2 and the arm length, plus the hand width. It's just that easy!) But then again, a short dress could be pretty cool!

Pupi Posted June 28, 2011 Wow, so many nice patterns! Me and my mom are working on Latooni's cosplay for this October, but we don't use any kind of patterns! Simple dresses, stockings and body stockings are easy so make in my opinion^^ enthusiast pasta girl - she/her - power bi Mini Mode Lab
Suzuna Posted June 29, 2011 Sooo awesome! How do you register with DoA though? I've never been able to find a link to request a reference.
baldylox Posted June 29, 2011 Ok, I'm sure this is a totally dumb question but how do you print out those patterns to the correct size? I tried to print them form the online site a month ago and all the images were tiny. I then downloaded some to my compuer, opened them with GIMP2 and then they were way too big. So how are you supposed to know what size they are going to come out? And please use small easy to understand words.... I am not fluent in printer or photo talk. Also, I do not have Photoshop, just GIMP. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

mitsuki Posted June 29, 2011 You are hilarious, fenrir z78! That is an awesome description of how to fix a printer.
baldylox Posted June 30, 2011 While informative and funny, Fenrir's explanation didn't help too much. I actually like the GIMP software and can use it pretty well. I tried opening pics with it at the downloaded pictures regular size and it always printed too big or too small. And why do I need to adjust the sizes? That's my problem... shouldn't the pics offered BE the correct size? How am I supposed to know what size the items are supposed to be? I thought the entire idea behind a pattern was to have it be the correct size to cut out and make the clothing from. Or am I incorrect in thinking this? Just wondering is all... baldylox Posted June 30, 2011 Sometimes when you scan a pattern that is right ( fits the doll ) it gets resized sometimes, not all the time. That and the person named James that made the patterns did not say what program he/she used to print the patterns. Sorry I cant be much help. That is way thing in life are not free you have to work to get what you want. And this is how this set of patterns are done. Dont feel bad I not have the best softwear in the world. I am useing what came on my computer when I got it. So I feel your pain. I am no sewing master at all. I have done ONE shirt in my entire life and it was ok at best. So I really don't know much about the process other than I am not good at it. But I was just under the asumption that patterns were supposed to be the right size, thats all. I just wanted to have a few of these to give Anne so she could try them out. But if she had to resize them all, whats the point really? I guess they can be used as a guide of sorts. Again, I have no idea what the process is for making a pattern. Thanks for the input tho. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Lizik-chan Posted June 30, 2011 And why do I need to adjust the sizes? That's my problem... shouldn't the pics offered BE the correct size? How am I supposed to know what size the items are supposed to be? I thought the entire idea behind a pattern was to have it be the correct size to cut out and make the clothing from. Or am I incorrect in thinking this? From my little sewing experience you had to adjust the patterns like this. I think it is because it's hard for those who are non professional and sharing the patterns free not for profit to make them 100% fit. Probably this is also scaner/soft problem as well. I have vol.1 Volks pattern book and no adjustments are needed for the patterns there. From the other hand I try to master the art of DD underwear sewing using the patterns shared at DOA and I've already made three adjustments for the pattern size. Usually these free distributing patterns has the ruler image including on one of the sheets or separately to help scaling. If I remember correct those patterns from the above had the one too when I first saw them at DOA. I'll try to check my downloads this evening, and if I'm lucky I'll upload the ruler here. Till Troll Posted June 30, 2011 Pick one of the patterns, say a shirt, and measure the centre-back-neck-to-waist/hip-to-hip/waist-to-ankle (whichever is appropriate, picking one that is a straight line on the pattern image is easiest). Then measure the same measure on your DD. Find a ratio between the two. In gimp, find the image properties and the cm/mm measurements of that pattern image. In any printing/image viewer/gimp app you know and trust, force it to print that image at the size scaled by the ratio you found. After you've done this, you'll likely have to make a test piece, to check the fit and alter the pattern, as I think these patterns are for SD/MSD? At the very least, this method should scale the patterns to approximately the right size so with minimum editing you can get a better fitting pattern out of it. I did something similar to some 1/4 scale basic slopers I found in the back of a pattern drafting book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Make-Your-Patterns-Rene-Bergh/dp/1845374568 http://www.amazon.com/Make-Your-Patterns-Step-Step/dp/1853687022 I really recommend this book: even if you don't use the patterns, the guides for constructing and altering patterns to make certain styles are really good. I am currently drafting a knee length jeans pattern for DDdy using this, and although I've done a far bit of fine tuning and curve adjustment, the 1/4 basics in the back were actually pretty close to start with. (although they are supposed to be for waist height full length jeans: miraculous fluke? )

OtakuDepot Posted July 7, 2011 Take a hammer out and beat the liveing $h!t out of it and yell things like "that is not the right size" or "i payed for you so do what I say".[/size]After you are done FIXING the printer, set down have a soda, smoke, beer or what ever. Then clean up your new FIXED printer and put it in the trash. Next goto the store and buy a new printer and try again. Hope that helps. I am very good at teck suport Haha - it seems you have the same printer experiences I've had in my life. I'm amazed that I've owned maybe 5 or 6 printers, some in the $300+ range and they almost never work as they should. I'd also like to suggest the Office Space method of dealing with a printer: **James Otaku Depot's growing family. “Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.” ― Terry Pratchett, Jingo

MaxArcher Posted July 11, 2011 Oh man, printers... I have an $800 Epson photo printer and it's a struggle to get it to work every time I need to print. It prints big and beautiful, but that's only when I can actually get it to print. DD Beatrice - DD Saber/EXTRA
