Dollfie Dream Manicures/Nail Art

I love Jesmoth, and I love love love love the acrylic nails she does for dolls. She even made a tutorial! Part one, and part two. Sometimes I see photos of Dollfie Dream nail art being sold at Dolpas on Japanese blogs. Does anyone have a doll with nail art? Does anyone know of any blogs with BJD nail art?

I have seen these on resins before and I would also love to see them on DDs. I adore long nails.

How beautiful! I was painting Holo's nails last night to look a bit more natural, and while decorative nails don't suit her the thought crossed my mind.

I was making nails for one of my dolls by just using the actual nail acylic kit. I just built it up to extend the nail and then sanded it down with my dremel to shape it. This is old but I know one of the nails is slightly off center. But overall these were pretty strong. I was giving my Xerxes a pair (I need to finish) and ive only had one nail break off over the years.

I offer manicure and nail polish for dolls in my face-up shop

I invented a special formula to make nail polish specifically meant for doll hands (not usable on human hands).

I can realize it in pretty much all the colors

Do you think people would be interested in buying small cans of it?

I have also made the coat polish, that makes a very glossy glossy finish on doll nails ^-^

I'd like to paint my girl's nails a simple nude/pink . But if human nail polish isn't good for DDs, what can be used? I've seen photos of painted doll nails online, but nobody seems to mention what they use. Any ideas? ^^'

Acrylic paint for colours and coating to protect the vinyl. Usually the coating is something like MSC spray as the first layer and then paint the nails and then a glossy coating on top to make it shiny.

Holy crap! O_O Those are intriguing. Definitely for a certain style of doll. I would love to see full photo shoots of the dolls with these nails in the full regalia of this style.

Those are gorgeous nails and they really help make the dolls more unique and add to their character I would like to try paining my girls nails even if it's something simple like a french tip

Btw, Aileen of Call Me Gorgeous has been doing some AWESOMe manicures and nail art recently! Might be really good inspiration for Dollfie Dreams since she does a cute gyaru look.

I have plans for a gyaru style dollfie and Aileen's work is really lovely * A*;; I've seen these lovely nails for sale on taobao, but I have no idea how the buying process will work... :'D Now that I've seen that straw tutorial I'm going to go buy a spare set of hands and try it for myself~

I've painted one of my girl's nails (she's going to be fairy kei styled once I can get her a good wardrobe) and I love it! I just think painted nails look so cute.

Noob here, who hasn't ever painted anything on a doll before!

 

So, I want to paint my Mikus nails (didn't bought the pre-painted nails). I saw a picture in a Dollybird magazine about what to use if you wanna paint the nails. In the picture was Sakura Mat colors. I googled it and they were said to be watercolors. That got me confused because here I read you should use acrylic colors (don't exactly know what they are...) so is there a difference? Can I use the watercolors?

Then a question about Mr Super Clear. There are different kinds so witch one should I use before painting and after painting? I know this is more of an "Question and answer", but since here was a thread about painting DD nails I put this here.

 

And I have no idea what that yellow bottle is that says "Bondo".

I think you can take that scanned page as advice, not necessarily as "the" way to do it. If you can't find those materials feel free to find another way of doing it. Japan has access to a lot of stuff you can't get elsewhere.

 

There are several types of hobby paints, including watercolour, acrylic, and lacquer. That generally indicates what's used to dissolve the paint. Watercolour can be dissolved with just water so it's the weakest, but also the safest since it doesn't need harsh solvents to use. Lacquers are VERY poisonous and requires a respirator and ventilation to use.

 

For using Super Clear, it would make the most sense to use the small hobby bottles of super clear gloss and use a brush to paint over the nails only. However SC is a lacquer, and if you're using it with a brush it would harm anything you paint over unless it is lacquer too. Tamiya has sealers that can be used on other paints but I'm not familiar with them.

 

The simplest thing would be to go to a local arts & crafts store and ask someone; they can probably recommend the paint, sealer, and thinner to use that work with each other. You're just painting one colour so there no need to get too fancy, you just want it to be durable so it doesn't rub off.

Thank you foo! I think I'll go to arts and crafts store with a DD hand and ask them. The Sakura Mat colors are quite cheap on the ebay and they have that Miku-color in the set so I think I'll try that.
