New Flickr

Just wondering what people think of the new Flickr? As a pro user I'm thinking of letting my account expire since I have nowhere near a terabyte of photos. I'm just wondering if there's a limit to how many photos you can upload at once with the free account? Overall I think the layout is not too bad.

 

Do you guys like the new Flickr? If your a pro user are you going to switch to the free service? If you don't use Flickr what is another go site for DD photo sharing?

I cancelled my Pro subscription because I'm only using 0.048% of the 1TB. That's totally enough for me! I have detailed enough stats in the free account that I don't feel I need to pay for more. I only upload at most 10 photos at a time so I don't feel that is a blocker for me either. I'm glad I'm not paying for this service anymore.

 

When it comes to the new UI, I feel I'd like it a lot more if it wasn't so slow. They're trying to hard to fill up your entire screen that it takes a lot of effort.

While I think the addition of the free account with 1TB of space is cool and all, I absolutely DESPISE the new layout of Flickr. They did this huge redo and forced it on us without even bothering to ask the users if they even WANTED a change. The way all your pics come up now instead of the activity section used to is a royal pain. And the way they FORCE you to use that damned Lightbox setup to look at your pics one at a time is annoying as all hell. I have always hated that Lightbox setup.

 

If you can't tell already, I am not liking this new "upgrade" one bit. It's annoying, it's ugly and I can't find anything easily anymore because all the control buttons have been moved and are NOT LABELLED. How can you change your stuff up so much without even labeling stuff?? It's maddening to the point of utter frustration. It took me 3 times as long to make a post here on the forums last night than it normally does due to all these ridiculous changes they've sprung on us.

 

If I had a choice, I'd go elsewhere to host images but I have so many on Flickr now, there's no reason to kill them all and then reload elsewhere. That would be a royal pain too.

 

Stupid Flickr, why can't yall leave well enuff alone?

Sorry for those who like the new version, but seriously there are a lot of problems with this new version. Especially you can't see pictures as thumbnails anymore but only as justified. It is too heavy for my computer and I have a lot of bugs, and it is so slow

I hope they will correct that asap, or better, they would let people choose between the old and the new version. But I am afraid I can dream.

I think it is a bit a shame too because most of the people didn't ask for that change so why do they have to be forced?

In less than a day there are more than 10000 feedbacks, mostly negatives.

Morever I don't understand everything about the new accounts system.

I am disappointed.

There are four buttons at the bottom of this module, the far left one is Mail.

The new layout is atrocious!

It reminds me of the clusterfuck Netflix stream introduced couple years ago, then the awful look of Win8 ... basically its the look thats fine on phones and all the IT people seem to forget people still use actual PC's

 

Anyways, the "Pro" accounts are pretty much discontinued anyway. Yahoo is removing that option, since free accounts get more space and paid accounts simply won't have ads

I'm more curious about refunds! They keep giving me a window that says "heeey, switch to Free before August" ... uh huh.. Yahoo, my account is Pro paid, does that mean you'll give me my money back if I switch?

They gave me a prorated refund after switching from Pro to free.

Yes I found this but I can't find how to send mail to people. Before you had an envelop next to the name or something like that. I can't find anything similar with new design. Or I am just blind.

 

BTW the site is totally bugging for me now, I can only access white pages.

When you're on the picture's page, right under it still on the black bar are icons in the right corner. Click the 3-dots, and it should have the options ... Delete Photo is one of them

THIS is exactly what kills me the most.... people who know how to use Flickr are now left to their own devices because NOTHING IS LABELLED. How hard is it to label buttons? Half the buttons I saw don't even offer the little pop-up info box that says what they do! How am I supposed to figure this stuff out without just hitting random buttons that may or may not wipe out my entire set of 50 pics I just uploaded?

I spent an hour clicking around on everything just to understand what was happening

And then finally braved the "Sets" and got mad all over again... the new setup destroys the carefully written text in the blurb boxes

Downgraded my account to free. I had a year's subscription that would have expired in November. It offered me a prorated refund. Maybe refund vs. not depends on how much time you had left?

 

Jury's still out about the new layout. It LOOKS cool, but yeah, is hard to fund things. Haven't tried posting images yet, so we'll see now that goes... From the standpoint of me viewing most things on a tablet (I only use my laptop when I need to run a slave device like a printer anymore) it SEEMS spiffy, but we'll see how big the learning curve is.

I only had 11 days left in my Pro account and I still got a refund, I'm not sure how it works!

 

The uploading seem relatively the same so at least that's that! >___<

Once your paid Pro expires, the account should revert back to FREE (1TB space, some ads on page, blah blah) Most of what Pro accounts could do before is what current Free accounts should be able to do now (thats what they said at least)

 

the weird thing (maybe someone with different account type can verify) is current Pro accounts can't see how much space they take up. You can see how many photos you've uploaded, but not the actual amount of bytes

Yeah I'm not fond of the new layout, Flickr was my favorite site too u_u

It's too slow, the thumbnails are gone which means scrolling forever since it's a huge photowall >_>

Anyone else having issues with Flickr now? The site is all sorts of messed up and looks like it's in some type of Beta mode or something. Maybe someone got irate and hacked it? LOL I can only hope this means their new look was ill received and they're reverting to the old system.

As previous experiences showed - they give no fucks and return to 'classic' isn't too likely (I swear, its like a diversion from the Tumblr purchase)

 

Current theory is their servers are suddenly under a l lot more stress and can't handle it. After all, its loading more pics at higher 'thumb' size by default now... waaaaaaaaay too many files moving than before

 

Personally, I'm amused at how many people are suddenly jumping to Ipernity. Enough that the site put up a "Welcome, Flickr friends!" notice

The mail is in the top right corner where your avatar is. I only know this because of the unread mail sent by Flickr that's still lurking

 

And yes, as everyone else said, the layout is not pleasing Like baldylox, I do not like the lightbox look when viewing photos.

 

I also had a hard time using Flickr before and now I'm back to square one LOL. I wish I could at least have the site take me directly to my Recent Activity thing. I'm not a fan of when pictures and different blocks of the page take up nearly the whole page....too much to look at
