WoundedNight64 Posted May 28, 2013 This is a strange question, but have you ever seen any DDs that haven't been from an anime, or an anime related thing. I suppose you sould technically argue KOS-MOS but she still has an anime air to her. For example I was playing LoL and looking at some of the female characters I thought to myself "They could become nice DDs". I though the same about Yuna from Final Fantasy. I know some designs don't translate well, but things like the DC Bishojou line of figures has got me thinking. DD Catwoman or Supergirl? So have you seen any like this? shinegamix Posted May 28, 2013 well the touhou girls are technically from the game. volks image girls(natsuki, moe) volks standar girls(yukino, aoi), also sirius and shining blade sakuya making my triumphant return
Dollvari Posted May 28, 2013 I've seen quite a few from a game's and visual novels. Since they did KOS-MOS/Momo, I think we could see a Final Fantasy girl. I can’t even put into words how happy I would be, if they released a LoL girl The DC Bishojou would also be very interesting, nice post
Bloodflower Posted May 28, 2013 Mai, Rise and Sakura Shinguji are also from games and then there's the Lost Angels line. But I can see what you're trying to say. I don't think more western/mature anime characters would look that good as the current DD style, since it's pretty heavy in the cute and simple anime style that dominates today's market. The Bishoujo line have a pretty mature anime style to it. EDIT: But there's probably some that would look good, KOS-MOS still have a pretty mature look to her, but I still think Volks sculpters need to practice to do some more mature molds. Corellia(DD Marya), Sirius(DDS Sirius), Luka(DDdy OOB N-04), Alessa(DDdy Sakura Honya Head) Genma(Azone Kanojo)
Galvatim Posted May 28, 2013 Final Fantasy VII DDs would fit in great, and could be huge sellers... I do agree with Bloodflower, though, that most Western characters, and a number of Japanese characters, don't quite fit the DD style. Resident Evil/Biohazard has a slight anime tinge, but is too realistic for DD. FFXIII's Lightning falls in the same category, I feel. On the other hand, Volks could collaborate, and create new designs for certain characters. It's not as if we haven't seen different artists put their own spin on Catwoman or Lara Croft before. Oh, I totally want some DD Star Wars/Princess Leia outfits. 001 by galvatim, on Flickr
Yukamina Posted May 29, 2013 Some DDs are from games, etc, but they are still anime style. I don't think they'd ever make a non anime style DD, since the anime aesthetic is kinda the whole point. I think a lot of Final Fantasy characters match resin BJD aesthetic well (I've seen a few awesome Cloud BJDs), although you'd have to customize them yourself! I'd kill for that one! But other sets would be cool too, like her Bespin outfit, her Hoth outfit, the Ceremonial Robes from the end of SW, and of course her original white gown from the first movie. Ahh, having those sets would be so geek-tastic! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
