Silly auction prices for Dollfies and accessories

I had been thinking about this for a while now and I figured I'd have some fun with it too.

 

I know I'm not the only one here who sees these auctions on ebay and thinks "Are these people insane?" I mean come on guys, listing fees alone should be killing these sellers but they relist again and again at insane prices!

 

I have found some that are just too funny and I thought I'd share. If anyone else sees stupid pricing on stuff, please share, I figure we can all use a good laugh.

 

Here are girls and their BIN prices on ebay at the moment:

 

Nia = $4300.00

Ryomou Shimei = $4999.00

Yoko Littner = $3999.00

Second version Rei Ayanami in Maid outfit = $3999.00

Mai Shiranui = $3999.00

 

All of those are from the same seller, Toyofspark. Maybe they don't WANT to sell these girls? They also have a Sasara at $10,000.00 And no I didn't put the period in the wrong place. That's TEN GRAND in USD.

 

And here is something I don't understand.

An Aoi for $699.00 when you can go RIGHT NOW to the Volks US site and get one for $418.00...... this makes no sense to me at all.

If sellers want to sell stuff, you'd think they would lower their prices to a fair market value. I guess these people either don't need to sell their stuff or are just biding their time until someone with more money than sense wants to adopt. I kind of feel sorry for all those girls who will forever be stuck in a box on a shelf somewhere due to stupid greedy sellers.

I'm like you, wondering if they don't want them to sell.

 

I imagine they're hoping to find someone that is desperate for that doll and that has a lot of money.

 

It's really sad though...I can understand making a profit but this is crazy. It's supposed to be a fun hobby.

 

Very sad that sellers are thinking purely about profit, or maybe I'm just naive.

Maybe some very wealthy people who aren't comfortable dealing with YJA, or maybe don't even know about YJA, will get into the hobby and spend ten grand on Sasara???? I guess if there is just one sale every few months it's worth it to them.

 

As for seeing Aoi and Yukino going for a few hundred dollars more than Volks USA is selling them for, I think I remember hearing someone say (or guess) it's a way for someone from a country that Volks doesn't sell to get the dolls. ????? I'm not familiar with what countries the different Volks sites do and don't sell to so I can't say for sure.

 

I agree that some of them are so expensive it's almost comical but I also am a great believer in capitalism. They can offer it for whatever price they want, if they find a buyer desperate (or stupid) enough to pay it then good for them.

 

As for me I can't see ever paying $10,000 for a single girl - even if I win a huge lottery or something. That's just way too much money.

I agree, its true craziness... The Mai Shiranui that I picked up for less than 500 dollars to use as the base body for my girl Syann is now selling for over a 1000...

I know that capitalism is a good thing for the most part but these people just have no clue about real world values on these girls. $12,000 for a Saber Alter.... seriously? How could you post that and NOT laugh the entire time?

Sharddarkness, I also have a Mai Shiranui and paid $600 for her. I got lucky on an ebay auction with that one. But I have seen her selling on YJA for 900-1000 lately. Maybe she's getting more popular now? Either way I'm glad I got mine, she's excellent. =3 Glad you have one too!

For $499, that Saber maid outfit should include an extra body to replace the one you'll stain with it...

 

I'll confess I was seriously considering the Yui on eBay for something like $1199 or $1299, but I found a better deal. I've pay over $1000 for a few DDs, like Saber or Kanu, but these prices are ridiculous!

 

With the great international Dollfie community, I'd really hope people who can't buy from Volks (Intl or US) directly, ask around first. I bet they'd find someone to help order an Aoi or Yukino with out any trouble, and save a lot in the end.

I wonder how many people would pay so much for dollfies... I know it's an awesome hobby and getting a new girl is always a beautiful experience, but... Mah, nevermind >_>

Ya, I was going bring that up too... that $12000US Saber Alter and the $7000US Original Saber from the same seller.

Ha ha! I'd normally agree with you 100% but on this one, I think it's the older version that's for sale. Which, to my knowledge, doesn't stain. Scripple and Wolfenriech both have the original Saber Maid outfit and both of them said it didn't stain thier girls. It seems that between the older one and the reissued one, fabrics were changed.

 

But that auction for $499.00 looks like the original version due to the sticker on it. The version I got for Rei and then traded off had a different picture on the front.

 

Still, your line above about including an extra body is hilarious!

Scripple used a body stocking on his girl to prevent staining.

 

I don't think Volks switched to using worse black fabric or better black fabric for that matter!

Well apparently the new version of the maid outfit stains through body stockings. Had the same issue with the Moe Goth outfit as well, stained through the body stocking. My maid outfit did not stain through the body stocking.

I swear this guy is so well known on the internet by now.. for selling DDs at stupid prices

I got a good laugh about a month ago seeing someone post on DoA trying to sell a 5Star Emma (MSD sized basic doll sells for $195 with a free wig) for $900 with two wigs and four outfits ( all from Alice's Collections, not one of the bunch over $20 in value.) She had it listed for awhile, and then it popped up on craigslist for $650.

 

But yeah, I think there's actually a thread on DoA that lists absurd prices for dolls on ebay. At one point and time, they had a link to a Volks Rozen Maiden Shinku listed for $86,000.00 USD. It's hilariously ridiculous sometimes to see what people will list dolls for.

Yes, many a laugh was had regarding the 12k Saber Alter. I contacted that seller regarding the 12k Saber Alter sometime early part of year or late last year. He is quite serious about the price, and to use his words "...because this doll is quite rare and justified for price"

 

The lowest he was gonna go was 10k for it. Funny thing is I would be interested in knowing what he thinks about the price of her now with Saber Alter V2 coming out. Mold is exactly the same, body and dress are different. And I am sure with right seamstress even that dress can be replicated. He will have to come down on his price if he hopes to move her now.

I saw that crazy $12k auction for Saber Alter! It was insane!

 

Jr Toys is pretty much known to scalp Volks stuff (on eBay and in their physical store in HK). I remember 3 minutes after the Volks Int'l site had the sale for Moe's Summer Uniform, they had 3 listed on eBay to sell for 2.5x the retail price.

 

I bought something from them once for my sister before I knew they were scalpers (a yo-SD outfit) that was "reasonably" marked up considering how old the outfit was. However, I'd rather just wait and hope to buy things second hand than support them anymore.

I here mixed reviews regarding HK shops and pricing too. I do know a lot of the stuff that shop list on ebay seems quite high considering. Only DD place I bought from in HK has been DW and the stuff I got there had what I consider to be reasonable markup, especially considering it was items no longer available.
