Silly auction prices for Dollfies and accessories

I here mixed reviews regarding HK shops and pricing too. I do know a lot of the stuff that shop list on ebay seems quite high considering. Only DD place I bought from in HK has been DW and the stuff I got there had what I consider to be reasonable markup, especially considering it was items no longer available.

 

 

I like that DW brings in interesting non-Volks stuff as well (like Azone, Miruya wigs, etc.) I agree that their mark-up is more reasonable. I try pop into their physical store whenever I'm in HK for work because they have things in the shop that aren't listed on their website - and to save on the 4% PP fees and shipping cost. (And at the same time, the shop is so crammed with goods that if I don't browse their site beforehand I don't know what they have! LOL)

I got a good laugh about a month ago seeing someone post on DoA trying to sell a 5Star Emma (MSD sized basic doll sells for $195 with a free wig) for $900 with two wigs and four outfits ( all from Alice's Collections, not one of the bunch over $20 in value.) She had it listed for awhile, and then it popped up on craigslist for $650.

 

But yeah, I think there's actually a thread on DoA that lists absurd prices for dolls on ebay. At one point and time, they had a link to a Volks Rozen Maiden Shinku listed for $86,000.00 USD. It's hilariously ridiculous sometimes to see what people will list dolls for.

 

I tried to message her about haggling about some outfits, and she wouldn't budge from any price what so ever, so where as I would have given her $60 for a few outfits she got $15 for one outfit and nothing else. Nice to see that nothing else she has up as even come close to selling...

It seems the rerelease hasn't hit the value of Alter v1 that much. There's a used one on Mandarake for 230k atm and a new one for 280k.

 

There's one on Yahoo for 71k with 21 bids and 2 days left, it will be interesting to see how much that goes for.

as someone who doesn't own any dolls yet, I'm probably going to have to dip into the higher price ranges to get whatever I want. Though I can't say I would ever spend thousands of dollars on doll...as much as I want some of them.

Maybe I'll get lucky when the time comes

Well, this topic is about the ridiculous prices, so hopefully it's informative about which listings to simply pass over. Saner prices are out there, it just takes a lot of waiting and daily site checking in various places. (Not just eBay but YJA, DoA, Figure.fm, Flikr, Mandarake, and The Jungle.) You'll be able to bring someone home eventually. . . just not one of these overpriced ones! XD

 

Oh yeah, to keep somewhat on topic, in another section someone had posted an eBay listing for the 06 head for $220! It didn't even say outright whether it was blank or pre-painted, and to top it off the seller didn't have the head in their possession yet. (Luckily she thought to ask on this forum rather than buying it as she had considered.) Man, some people don't care if they're gypping people so long as they make their profit.

What really bothers me is when I see Aoi and Yukino going for $800.

 

That's simply ridiculous, for a little more you could own them both!

There is already Alter v2 and Extra on Ebay for $1200.

That's insane, they have not even been shipped yet.

That is pretty stupid. I for one wouldn't pay that for something that hasn't even shipped from the manufacturer yet. :/

 

Though my biggest irritation is when I see somebody selling a base body for a markup just because it originally came with a limited set (and the rest of it--head included--has already been split). It's like they expect you to pay extra, like it's special because it came with so-and-so. Granted, there are a few bodies that haven't been released standard, like the white DDDy or white MDD, but I usually see this for normal-skin M bust DDIIs. I guess it annoys me so much because it's that much easier for them to sucker in someone who hasn't done the research.

Poofiemus, I agree with you but at the same time, I guess they usually ship it in the original box with papers so if you were to get a head somehow, the value might go up? Not sure. Just trying to make some sense out of it haha

As much as I couldn't justify spending even 1/4 that its not hard to see why people would spend a lot for them.

Those are insane prices, bu they are very pretty.
