R.I.P. my darling Squiggy

This may not be the right place for this but I had to put it somewhere.

 

Most people know I have two cats that get into my DD pics from time to time. Both of them are pretty popular here so I had to let people know that I had to let go of one of them last Monday.

 

Squiggy was my small black cat. She and Lenny were adopted in 2001 and are brother and sister from the same litter. They are the same age but VERY different from each other.

Squiggy was always smaller than Lenny and a bit "off". We think she had some nerve damage or something due to her little quirks but it was nothing that caused her pain. But last weekend she started acting weirder than normal and by Monday I had to take her to the vets. It turned out that she had total kidney failure and partial liver disease. She was not herself and didn't even recognize me when I went to get her from the vets. There was nothing we could do for her and the vet said the best thing for her was to let her go. It completely killed me to have her put to sleep but I couldn't let her continue to get worse or get into any pain. So I had to let her go.

 

I was a complete wreck for 2 days, not eating or sleeping. I miss my little girl so very much. It took me this long to be able to even make this post. But I had to make this post because she was well liked and I wanted people to see her once again doing what she did best.... making me smile.

 

So please enjoy some photos of my dear Squiggy. She was the best cat anyone could ask for and she is missed very much.

Aw poor Squiggy. I'm so sorry Billy. She will certainly be missed, I love the pics you manage with your cats and dolls. Mine are brats. I'm sure she's feeling better though, in kitty heaven.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat >: This is making me really sad because I have a cat too TT-TT And she's getting pretty old and just...well, this makes me think of her...

Anyway, I'm really sorry u-u I'm sure she lived a very happy cat life with you, her brother and the girls!

This is so sad! My condolences to you and your family. Even though it was really hard to do, you did what you had to. It is best that she didn't suffer. I am sure you miss her terribly. Squiggy was important to many people. It was wonderful to get to know her by seeing her in all those lovely photos. She is in our thoughts and hearts and so are you. Please take care of yourself. I can only hope that you start to feel better with enough time.

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear this. Pets can mean so much to a family, and to lose one can be truly sad. Just remember she is always watching you and flocking in the field of kitty heaven. I'm sure she misses you just as much as you miss her.

Oh, man, I'm sorry. It's always hard to let a pet go like that, but it's better than letting them suffer. *virtual hugs* I'm sure you gave her a fantastic life, quirks and all.

Aw, dude, I'm so sorry..... She sure had a great life, though... Both of your fuzzy kiddos were a blast to see in your pics!

Aw, so sorry to hear about your loss. But it sounds like she had a long, full happy life with you. I wish I could say more, but I know all to well the feeling of losing a beloved pet and that only time will heal the pain. *hugs*

I missed her much at the last get together.

 

I'm sorry for your loss, but at least there's fond memories of her through the pictures you have and the ones in your heart. Give Lenny a scratch for me. *hugs*

The pictures you posted were really cute

It was always great to see Squiggy darting in and out of the photos you'd take of your DD girls. Really really sad to hear of your loss, but you made the right decision in making sure she didn't suffer anymore than she already had. And just like everyone else has said you gave Squiggy a wonderful life full of love, treats, and DD girls for her to befriend It will never be the same, but you'll always have all the wonderful memories and photos of Squiggy so that she'll always be with you no matter what If only I could give you a great big hug in person, but I'll have to settle for a virtual hug -BIG HUG!-

I have cats too and I love them as members of my family. It is so sad.

I am sure she was a very happy cat and she enjoyed life with you, Lenny, and all the girls. Condolences.

My first few days without her were very bad. But the major grief has now passed and I'm into a better frame of mind about it. I really blamed myself for her getting put down for a while there.... like I took her life for no reasons. I know there were good reasons to let her go but it still hurt like hell to see her slip away from me at the vets. I wasn't even sure if she knew me when she went but I hope she at least remembered my face a little bit.

 

Lenny also misses her. I was told cats can get depressed too so I have to watch Lenny to make sure he's eating and drinking enuff water. So far he hasn't changed his eating habits at all so that's a good sign. But he does know Squiggy isn't around anymore and I can tell it bothers him. He will sometimes wait for her to show up when I give him treats and he will also go to her various hiding spots in the house, sit there and meow for a bit. I try and answer him anytime he starts with his random meowing and I also play with him more now. And he's been sleeping on the bed with me every night since he realized she went missing. He used to sleep with me occasionally but not every single night. So I know he's a little lonely now.

 

Anyway, I'm happy people enjoyed the photos of her I shared. Even tho she had her bad habits and drove me crazy sometimes, Squiggy was one of the best cats I've ever owned and she was very loving and sweet to everyone. I'm glad I was able to have her in my family for the time I did, she was a wonderful little kitty.

That's horrible news and I'm really sad to hear that. I've lost many close pets in my lifetime and it's never easy. My last cat got bit by a strange bug and even though the vets tried to help it was too much and he didn't survive the surgery. I was also very torn up about it. I didn't do anything for days. I had him since he was a kitten. I found him in some thorn bushes. But then I got my current cat and that really helped. Nothing can make you smile more than a cute kitten. Now, I don't know if I would want another cat next time, but we shall see.

 

In any event. I hope you feel better soon. Be sure to give Lenny lots of attention.

I have near similar models at home. A colorful one and a black one.

The black one looks nearly the same than yours. He is small and thin... To small and to thin. And he is also a little bit crazy, not acting like a normal cat. So i am worry all the time that he will die earlier than my other girl because he is that "unnormal" >__< ...

I'm so sorry for your loss I always loved seeing her in your photo stories and those photos you posted are so cute. Not putting my cat down before it got bad is one of my biggest regrets so don't ever blame yourself My cat suffered kidney failure due to dehydration and the vets told me she might pull through if we tried to give her water as much as we could to remind her to drink. Not even a day later my cat died in my arms and I keep telling myself my cat died at home surrounded by her loved ones but I know it wasn't the best for her. I believe she knew you were there with her and loved her and would miss her when she passed Me and my girls hope you and Lenny feel better soon *hugs*

I'm sorry about Squiggy. The last time I lost a pet, I was only eight, but I remember how hard it was to get used to life without a cat that had been in the family since I was born. I was so heartbroken when my mom called from the vet's and told us that she was going to be put down. I was a wreck for the next few days as well, and I even skipped school. Remember that Squiggy is in a better place now, and that you made her life wonderful.

Aww, I'm sorry for your loss Our dog, Cinnamon, was put down last summer and I understand what you're going through. Glad to know that you're pulling through okay though.

Thank you everyone for the added comments. It means a lot to me to see people here that really enjoyed seeing her as much as I enjoyed sharing pics of her. Thanks for the outpouring of support, I definitely needed it.

 

Oddly enuff, I had a dream about her last night. She was still gone but it seems she had a litter of kittens that lived next door and ALL of them looked just like her! So I adopted two of them and they were super cute. Poor Lenny looked confused a few times in my dream tho. I woke up feeling pretty good and it was nice to see her likeness again if only in a dream.
