R.I.P. my darling Squiggy

*huggles billy* I'm so sorry for your loss. It's never easy to let a furry baby go.

I'm very late to posting in this thread, but I too wanted to say my condolences as well. I was late to joining the forum so I didn't get to know her as everyone else did, but I can tell just from this post that she was truly special and beautiful. <3

I'm so very sorry to hear this Billy! It's been taking me a while to catch up on the forums, but I wanted to send our belated hugs as well. It was always really fun seeing your fuzzy kids when they would pop up in your photos, especially Squiggy because she was the rarer of the two. She was so adorable and I loved the light specs in her fur because it always reminded me of glitter.

 

I definitely know how hard it is to let go of a pet like that. About six months before we got Tama-chan and Yuriko, the cat I had had since high school passed away. He was the best cat I could have ever asked for, and he even hated to see me cry and would 'bonk' me with his head and make me pet him until the tears stopped. He (Lionel) was born a few months after Raven and I started dating, so even though he was about 15 1/2 when he died, it hit the both of us pretty hard. I still remember the day when it occurred to me that Tama never knew Lionel, they would have gotten along like peanut butter and jelly.

 

Even though it does get easier over time, I know I never forget my pets that are no longer here. Having photos really does help a lot though. We have a B&W photo of Lionel (when he was a few years old) in our bedroom that my grandfather took. I still miss him a lot, but having a picture that is just so very like him makes it easier to remember what a wonderful and loving companion he was.

I don't know how I failed to notice this before.. My condolences, I'm so Sorry for your loss Billy! I've never had a cat myself, but I always loved seeing lenny and squiggy in your posts. I'm glad that you are doing better now though.

Thanks again to everyone who posted here with condolences. It makes me happy to hear that I wasn't the only one who enjoyed her photos with my DD's. She got on my nerves sometimes but all pets will do that to their owner. But overall she was one of the best kitties I've ever owned and she made me very happy while she was alive. I still miss her terribly and so does Lenny. But the pain isn't as bad as it used to be and we'll recover in time.

Oh, Billy. (crap, now I am crying....) I am so sorry for you and the family. ((hugs))

 

I have 12 cats myself, all my indoor babies. I have had kitties my entire adult life and they have been my best friends at the lowest times. Pets are a huge part of our lives and when it is time to let go, it leaves a whole in our hearts.

 

I lost my Periwinkle back in January. It was sudden because she not even 13. I have one that is over 24 and one that is past 20 (and he is sick right now and I am so worried).

 

Squiggy is precious and will always be with you with little pawprints stamped on your heart.

Thank you so much for the kind words Michelle. I appreciate them a lot. I do still miss her for sure but I've gotten past the major sadness I had. Now I can finally look at photos of her and smile instead of getting all teary eyed.

I understand, Billy. It took me quite some time to get to that point.

 

I found a kitten at the local rescue a couple of weeks ago that was the spitting image of my kitty I lost. I had raised her since she was two weeks old, so this kitten pulled on my heart-strings. Especially since the rescue was in an emergency situation (they had lost their lease). I started crying after seeing her photo and my husband emailed them right then to check about adopting her.

 

Miu could never be a replacement for Peri because that is not the way it works. But she helps to fill that missing piece in our house.

 

She also came with her sister. So Miu and Taiga were additions to our home.

Miu and Taiga are so cute! I'm glad you were able to get sisters, it's always good to keep siblings together I think. I don't know if I'll get another kitty to hang out with Lenny or not. I can't afford to more cats the same age to be here with him so when he goes, I have two of them. I think he will just have to be a single guy like his dad.
