dollfie dream rooted heads?

Recommended Posts

Lucy Harper

Hi,

I'm new to dollfie dream and have a question about the DDC HH rooted dollfie dream heads. I can't seem to find any good pictures of them or I am not using the right search term. Really I want to know what the rooting pattern is like, where the hair line is on the actual scalp - how easy are they to customise... Meaning - is taking the time to customise one worth the time and energy.. ? Has anyone rerooted one? I have an idea to totally cannibalise one for customising but if the weight/ thickness of the vinyl is dubious and the neck hole is not easy to work with it might not be worth the time. Also, I really want to see what one looks like with an updo. Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Lucy

The rooted hair heads aren't often used since most of us prefer changeable rather than painted on eyes. The only example I can even think of is the one in the VolksUSA store. They have her hair up in a ponytail, so it can be styled that way. But as I've never seen one in person I can't help any further.

Thanks that was really helpful. I can see the insert eyes are so much better. I wish someone would scalp one and full customise it so I could see the results! Thanks so Much!

Read the comments on Flickr - these heads pop off easily from the neck.

^ The last one is mine. You can see more of her here on my flickr. and she makes rare cameos on my youtube.

The vinyl is not horribly thick. I can squeeze her head in easily. I'm sure she can be rerooted (but looking at it, that's A LOT of hair!). I know that the closest I've heard- people have shaved the hair down for wigs. When I first got her, just a little combing pulled out A LOT of loose strands. It took about a year of combing to get that to stop.

AND AN UP DOOO

OTL spur of the moment photo (my battery just died). I need to dig around her hair to find all her best balds spots so you can see her rooting work.

EDIT: one bald spot I managed to squeak out.

Now I have to go run and charge my battery.

If you need anymore, feel free to request.

Ah did you purchase one of those discount heads? I can't wait to see the results. My head has arrived now and I love it so major surgery is out of the question for the moment! I was gonna get one of the other 2 heads to fulfil my macabre desire, but after being up on the site for weeks they have both been snapped up pronto!

I didn't use a proxy you can just go to the mandarake international site. I can't believe I didn't find it sooner. http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/ They have some good offers. I check it everyday. All these 3 heads cost me 4500 jpy together less than one on the volks site. I prefer the Nakano store as they do good deal on DHL shipping - really quick All new never removed from box. May the scalping begin.....

You should open a thread with progress pics! I plan on scalping, not sure about cutting eyeholes out yet though so I'd like to see your results!

Great seeing some stuff on this thread. I myself was wondering if anyone has done any modifications to a rooted head like cutting some eyes in the. I figure the best way would be to use a dremel, carefully cut, dremel, cut, and sand?

I wonder how those would look, too, considering the heads have deep flat spots for the paint-on eyes. Perhaps making eye holes would make the eyes look too sunk in?
