I mean this is miku. popular or not I don't want another asuna price rise. It's difficult to say, but since its a preorder it might stay lower. It's likely to go above though, unless you catch her on YJA or something very quickly after she is released. Private sellers often want to recoup what they spent on her. My Lucy ended up being around 100,000 yen with shipping, fees and customs. Out of curiosity, why not buy from volks and avoid a price hike? mangaemi Posted September 2, 2013 yeah buying from a 3rd party usually means a higher asking price (as it's not the norm for someone to just sell the doll for exactly what they paid, most of the time they want to get a little bit more out of it first). I say if you want her, buy her from volks -- you get her direct, have a chance at getting replacements or whatever. If you go through a 3rd party it's pretty much an as-is gamble that you'l probably end up paying more for. She looks cute -- I love her eyes. After not getting Yukiho, I might go in for Miku since it will take a year. I just want to see the other outfits they may release for her : ) ♥ ★ ✮ ~ Amassing an army of Anime Cuties ~ ✮ ★ ♥ The Family: Sheryl, Ranka, Kirika, Arlex2, Yoko, Snow Miku, Haruka, Student Mariko, Prisma Illya, Akira, Maria, Cirno, Noumi, Asuna Titania, Sakuya on the way: want: Sailor Moon, Miki, Yukiho
Amara77 Posted September 3, 2013 I've always had issues with them making clothing that stains. To me, if you make a product specifically FOR another product you sell and you KNOW it will damage that product, why release it? Aren't there quality controllers that are supposed to do just that? Check to see if the product is good and works properly? But I digress.... Japanese companies do things differently than others so I can't say who is to blame for this or why these things occur. I just know that when I see something from Volks that looks nice, I have to weigh the fact that it may stain my girl or not be exactly what I'm thinking it should be. Ya I 100% agree with you on this. I now yea yea suck it up (and we all do sometimes ) But this is not a cheap item we are purchasing. They could definitely do a little better on picking fabrics that don't stain. Especially with the default gear. The wig stains don't bother me much as it's hidden, but I've seen some Saber Alters with awful stains from her dress. I mean it's loose fitting on her legs. You mean to tell me they couldn't have found a fabric that was a little less monstrous! http://amara77.wordpress.com blog and shop Spoke too soon....

Shailara Posted September 3, 2013 She's pretty but I'm glad I'm not into DDs as much anymore XD I'm more than likely safe from any/most future releases XD (still need to buy a body for my two girls though and there are still some I'd still like to buy from the old ones XD ) (\_/) ( ' .' ) ( uu)

I don't think wig staining is excusable either--they can just use light colored wig caps (the part the hair wefts are sewn to), like Crobidoll does. If the wig is well made, the wig cap shouldn't be visible... I get the feeling whoever makes the outfits for DD doesn't test the fabric for staining. They just choose the fabric they like and make the outfits. My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt

I don't think they consider staining a defect since since their display models are stained too. Not much we can do. You either continue to buy from them or you don't. SakuraSylph Posted September 4, 2013 Speaking of staining, is anyone else worried about the material Miku's boots and arm warmers are made of? The outside (black part) seems to be a flexible glossy plastic, at least on the prototype doll. I couldn't see what the insides of these items looked like, but in the year left before release they have plenty of time to tweak the design. chien Posted September 4, 2013 She's so cute and beautifully made. I totally understand why they chose that sculptor, because it really translates the style of Miku that you see in the Project Diva games very well. I'm just not a fan of the sculptor though, and wish she was more three-dimensional as a sculpt. Ugh, so cute-- but totally safe from wanting to buy her. uwu
wickedgood Posted September 5, 2013 I am totally enamored with Miku. Her face is enigmatic, reminiscent of Saber Alter's. The semi-white color is lovely, and I prefer small busts (M-bust is the largest I'm interested in). And I LOVE blue. Basically, Miku is just about perfect That said, I'm not familiar with Vocaloid at all. Watched a couple of Youtube videos over the weekend, and /shrug... I kind of don't get the draw? I mean, a digitized voice that you can use to create your own songs is cool, and the fact that there are 'characters' for each voice is neat. Just not my thing I guess. Even so, I am sooooo going to preorder her. I don't know Saber Alter or Rise either, and the fact that I'm not into their characters does not seem to reduce my enjoyment of my DDs . I (hopefully!) will have relocated by the time Miku is shipped, so I will most likely use my parents' address so that there won't be any problems receiving her. So much cute! chien Posted September 6, 2013 I think the biggest draw to Vocaloid is that it's very user-driven, and that many hobbyists who got famous doing Vocaloid-related works have moved on to become professionals in the industry. I'm always super impressed by the sheer volume and quality of Vocaloid stuff that comes out every week on the Weekly Vocaran. :> It's really cool going to Daiso and hearing a Vocaloid song get played, and thinking, "I remember following this Producer on Nico years ago! Wow, they made it big!!!" Plus, there's even a Vocaloid project that is turning into its own series. Two years ago, Kagerou Project started out as some Vocaloid songs and music videos, but now there's a novel, manga, and anime based off of the plot and characters introduced in the Vocaloid works. OhnoRaptors Posted September 6, 2013 While not in love with the sculpt, it's such a collectors item that I want to get her! Which is why I'm glad it's a standard order. I think with a slightly more grumpy mouth she would make a perfect Luka.
Yukamina Posted September 6, 2013 I didn't get the appeal of Vocaloid at first either until I discovered vocal covers. Then I really got into the songs and the videos and trying to find the covers I liked best. I really love the art and animations people come up with, and the fact that people are collaborating and writing music like this. It's like the music equivalent of looking at art or fanart. The Kagerou Project thing is really awesome too! My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
mangaemi Posted September 6, 2013 I'm really going to be surprised if they don't offer Luka as well sometime later in the month. Not saying my wallet would be happy -- but Luka as a DD would look awesome. I'd want both XD ♥ ★ ✮ ~ Amassing an army of Anime Cuties ~ ✮ ★ ♥ The Family: Sheryl, Ranka, Kirika, Arlex2, Yoko, Snow Miku, Haruka, Student Mariko, Prisma Illya, Akira, Maria, Cirno, Noumi, Asuna Titania, Sakuya on the way: want: Sailor Moon, Miki, Yukiho
SakuraSylph Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) Here are photos of the official advertisement brochure that was given out at Magical Mirai. It's on glossy paper, so 'twas hard to get pictures of without flash reflections. Some of these were posted earlier in the thread, but I think some may be new or at least closer up (I didn't go back to check). Aside: I have a few extra of these brochures, actually, so you can get one for yourself if you buy something else from me in the MP and request one to be included. At least until I run out of the few! Edited September 18, 2013 by Guest SakuraSylph
nkei Posted September 6, 2013 OMG those pictures are amazing SakuraSylph! Miku is so beautiful . Albeit she's a little more mature in sculpt then expected (cutesy Miku seems like the more popular route with customs) but I think that makes her much more versatile both as Miku and any other custom character people will come up with the sculpt . So glad there are so many Vocaloid fans too - I have no one to fangirl to in person . I think the biggest draw to Vocaloid is that it's very user-driven, and that many hobbyists who got famous doing Vocaloid-related works have moved on to become professionals in the industry. I'm always super impressed by the sheer volume and quality of Vocaloid stuff that comes out every week on the Weekly Vocaran. :> It's really cool going to Daiso and hearing a Vocaloid song get played, and thinking, "I remember following this Producer on Nico years ago! Two years ago, Kagerou Project started out as some Vocaloid songs and music videos, but now there's a novel, manga, and anime based off of the plot and characters introduced in the Vocaloid works. THIS. Wow chien you just described the appeal of Vocaloid so eloquently I am amazed. I always tell this to my friends but they are all like 'meh it's just a digital voice'. But the appeal is that it's a voice that fans created. It's amazing when they move on to greater things too! I was around when Supercell still did Vocaloid music often and to see them move on to non-Vocaloid music was super cool. Btw for those who don't really like Miku/Vocaloid because of her auto-tune voice, there are quite a few producers who make realistic sounding Vocaloid songs . I definitely avoid the screechy Miku like a plague, so I tend to seek out the songs that make her sound real and pretty. I don't have links (but Youtube/NND is your friend ), but definitely check out these Producers/songs if you like realistic Miku/Vocaloid songs: keeno (crack, glow) Mezame-P (Usotsuki, Orange Genome, Paranoia, Mocha) The Beast by SpectacleP (I LOVE THIS SONG) Harry (Tokyo Caster, Bokura no Let it Be) Faye-P (One Night Fairytale) Papiyon (Dendrobium Phalaenopsis) Ok...I'll stop now
mitsuki Posted September 6, 2013 I think Miku is how I thought Aoko would look like. Sort of a little bit younger Rin.
Poofiemus Posted September 6, 2013 Thanks so much for the photos, SakuraSylph! Been wanting higher res of those since they first cropped up. Looks like in some shots her sleeves at least are lined. I think they must have been cornered into it because of the bell shape, which would show seams otherwise. Still doesn't confirm whether her boots are, or how the heck those sleeves stay on. :/ Wig looks great; seems it's tied like Nanoha's, instead of stubbed like Sakuno/Saber Lilly/Yoko/Fate's. So, hopefully fewer broken wig issues, but it may have problems staying nice in the long run. Also, after seeing that thread about Chihaya's wig, and just how well Miku's matches her trim, I'm suddenly worried that they may have actually custom-dyed the fibers. >.< Probably won't know until she ships, unless they have her on display for several months in a Volks store where people can keep an eye on her. Either way, I'd personally like to get her a short wig as well, since that long one will probably tangle like whoa. Yes, Chien's got it. Miku's basically the ultimate poster child for consumer generated media. It's a rare case where the consumer generated material has largely been incorporated into the official "canon"; most of the songs in Project Diva and in the various Miku holographic concerts were originally consumer composed and put on NicoNicoDouga, and in the case of the early songs no one expected this fandom to end up where it is now. The power of Vocaloid fans probably surpasses the ones from MLP:FIM or even Touhou, since Miku wasn't originally intended to have much of a "canon" at all! And yeah, nkei's got a point to the appeal too: if you don't like how one person has used her voice, odds are you can find another song where someone else used her more to your liking. With no studio execs to call the shots, Miku and the other Vocaloids eventually end up singing just about anything instead of being pigeon-holed into a certain style like so many real vocalists. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
