Volks JP at Magical Mirai 2013 Hatsune Miku Event

I'm on the fence about Miku (her face sculpt doesn't really do anything for me), but that Senbonzakura outfit.... *v*

 

I'm super tempted to put in my order... only two days left to make a decision.

Well, you could always get just Senbonzakura and make another girl cosplay Miku.

 

In my case though I have the inverse issue. I'm head over heels for Miku herself (she's everything I wanted for a Miku DD), but even though I really want to like Senbonzakura, I just can't get truly excited about it. I think it's because of how strong the solid fabric is; with so little texture, to me it makes the color feel flat and canned. It's exacerbated by the fact that the boots do have texture, a really lovely one at that. I know that the flat colors are true to the original art, but I basically think they took it a little too literally.

I'm so excited! All I have so far for my new DD collection is heads and outfits and wigs LOL. I can't wait to get a fullset. I'm ordering form the international site so I don't have to pay for a year If it wasn't for that, I couldn't get her. I'm going to get her and the outfit, like Yukamina said, might as well go all the way

The description doesn't say boots? Are they not included?

Both Miku and Senbonzakura include "boots" in the descriptions on the Japanese site. I think VolksUSA just forgot the word in their description. The blog post makes it clear they're included, though.

Those are the weirdest boots. I would just give them to you, shinegamix-san.

I agree, they look so strange. I love the wig included in the Senbonzakura set but that's pretty much it.

hmm.. considering Senbonsakura was apparently taken out of Diva F, I feel a bit dissapointed about it being chosen as the optional outfit, even if it was the last song in the game.

 

Although that said, it is probably the best serious option for Miku out of that game, unless you want to go ultra casual, although I think Honey Whip would have been a nice overall set.

 

But considering they went the full haul of different eyes, and wigs, etc... it would have been a bit interesting if they would have done the Future Rin module as an option set.

 

(or even the Rin-chan fan #1 module for that matter, but that could have been more comedic perhaps.)

 

Too bad Luca, Rin, and Meiko get all the most interesting outfits in Diva F...

I just placed my own preorder woo hoo! I'm getting Miku and the extra outfit. I know nothing of Vocaloid but I've seen the character around and I think the doll is really pretty!

I just placed my pre-order too, I decided to go for both Miku and the Senbonzakura outfit. I'm really excited, she's the first DD I've ordered . I don't really know anything about Vocaliod either but she's just too cute to miss out on.

Yay! Also just placed my order for Miku! The additional outfit didn't thrill me enough to be worth it, I like the wig, but not enough to justify the hassle of trying to sell off the rest.

 

Miku is the first pre-made girl that I've wanted enough to take the initiative to just go and order. After I made Yuriko I've really just been content to let SK keep getting dolls for herself, and only ordered MOMO after she basically twisted my arm. With Miku, from the moment I saw her announcement, I knew I HAD to buy her or I would be kicking myself forever after. I'm super excited, but NOT looking forward to the LOOOOONG wait...

The Volks USA site is faring surprisingly well for Miku and the June collection being listed simultaneously. :/ Placed an order for Miku, but skipped Senbonzakura. Will probably pass on the June collection stuff unless it lingers long enough for me to want to stave off Miku wait anxiety with some retail therapy.

Sooooo.. Interesting news on the Japan front. Once I read the rules for ordering over here, it became apparent that the 4-doll limit is only for ordering online through the website. (It's because the biggest box Volks has can fit 4 DDs in it, and they don't ship multiple boxes in a single order). If you go to a store, you can buy any number of Mikus that you want. You can choose full payment in advance, or a deposit of $50 per Miku and $10 per SBZ.. You can send them to your house or to the store that you're ordering at. Just if you have them shipped the cost is 1050 yen per each increment of 4 or under (so, 5-8 dolls = 2100 yen shipping, etc).

 

This means it'd be possible to do a VolksJP Miku group order, which could be cheaper and faster than US options.

 

I need to head over there today to get some extra wigs, so I'll verify with the store.

Yep, the Miku order period is in full swing. The store had a huge floor-to-ceiling display that was a good 8 feet wide. It had blow-up cutouts at A4 or larger size of all the pictures we've seen so far. There were also little Miku-da-yo Nendoroid heads peeking out from various places in the store with arrows pointing towards the order slips. Senbonzakura was also on display of course along with regular Miku. It was quite the spectacle, so there's no way you could miss it!

 

The store manager confirmed that it is possible to order however many DD Miku from the store.

I don't have a very good feeling about this not causing another body shortage. I could be wrong, but this seems all too familiar.

Miku Madness has started but I'm still unsure about her. Sometimes she looks amazing and other times just so-so.
