Thanks for those! As expected, the shots of random people in the Volks stores utterly trump the official promo shots, especially those lovely first two.

 

The store manager confirmed that it is possible to order however many DD Miku from the store.

 

WHAT? Oh god, no no no. Volks, have you lost your minds!? I forsee another body shortage for sure, suspect a split into multiple batches, and now have founded fears of schedule slip. Ugh. At least I'm probably in the first US batch, but I do feel sorry for anyone who gets stuck in a subsequent batch. But a real delay would affect all batches most likely. *shudders* Hope it doesn't come to *that*. And another body shortage? Ugh. I forsee a lot of Obi-50 hybrids in the next year.

 

Side note, but I think from this change we might be able to conclude that the Xenosaga limit of one per customer may have been dictated by the license holder, rather than by Volks. . . which would mean Xenosaga's owners were the smart ones there, and Volks hasn't learned a damn thing.

Interesting that they're already saying that they'll be doing other outfits for her even after preorders close! It's a pretty cute one, too; kind of reminds me of those marching band outfits from last year, except blue instead of red. So, even though I didn't leap for Senbonzakura, there's still a chance of this or some other outfit down the line could ensnare me.

The Do Re Mi Fa Rondo set will be released next fall. I think the set looks very adorable. Well the illustrations of it anyway LOL.

Will be preordering, though I haven't decided yet whether to go through VolksUSA or the international site. Miku and the outfit will be mine, possibly x2.

I ordered two Mikus and the outfit. I'm want to be able to display the other outfit all the time as well. Excited! I ordered from the international site. I am worried about this body shortage as I'll have two heads here shortly and still no bodies (clothes and wigs, yes;bodies and eyes, no). Just have to hope those poor, beautiful heads don't get stuck bodiless for tooooo long.

I did it, I ordered Miku. I decided to pre-order from Volks International instead of Volks USA.

I was talking with The Famous Teal the other day and we both think Volks will create other Vocaloids DDs, but you'll have to go through the lotto. If they're all year long pre-orders, it would take a very long time to release them.

I thought I saw this somewhere else on the thread, but why does the confirmation e-mail from Volks say "Your order has not been confirmed yet as of now." What does that mean? The orders aren't confirmed until we pay?

Maybe the orders will be marked confirmed after Dec 1? Because currently you can cancel and change your order, so it's not locked in and confirmed yet (that's how I see it anyway)

I don't know if this has been mentioned already. The Japanese Government just announced that the sales tax in Japan will be increased from the current 5% to 8% from April 2014. Since the payment of the Miku pre-order is due Fall 2014, I wonder if the price will be increased when we pay for it in Fall 2014.

Please kindly note that I placed my pre-order from Hong Kong and the pre-order would be sent to Hong Kong.

Regardless of payment, pre-order period and pre-order procedure, we are still pursuing this policy of make an effort and to keep offering “Dollfie Dream Hatsune Miku” 65,100 yen (with fee), ”Senbonzakura Outfit Set (Ichi no Sakura: Cherry Blossom)” 18,900 yen (with fee). Please understand that the present schedule might be subject to change in the future.

 

We truly hope that you will continue to give Volks your support in the future as well.

Erm......... they haven't really answered my question!

 

I've been reading the blogs of Japanese DD owners. Some of them asked the staff at Volks stores and the reply was the price might be changed. One blogger has already paid for his order so that he could avoid the increase in sale tax.

 

I just hope that the prices of our pre-order won't be changed!

Honestly I'd take it to mean that whatever tax rate is in place when the order is finalized, like when they take your money, that is what will be added. Not what it is when you put in your preorder request. If they took your payment up front (which volks intl isn't doing at all right?) then it could be different. Like volks usa if you pay some upfront you are locked in, volks intl it could change up until the day you pay I'm guessing.

I'm getting the impression they're trying to juggle the numbers to keep the price consistent, but that they're not sure they'll succeed in pulling it off. So there's another reason for those of you using International to save a little extra, to buffer against that as well as exchange rate funk.

 

I hope they start doing blog shots soon; I'm really curious how she looks in other wigs, especially warm tone ones. I'd kind of like to know if those teal eyebrows/eyelashes clash with browns and reds before I start shopping for a casual wig for her.

I do wish I could pay now as the exchange rate is quite good and the tax rate is still 5%. :-/

My Tsuki gal who is a WS but with teal eyebrows has a hard time obviously with warmer colors, and I'd assume they'd do Miku's normal eyelash paint in a cool-tone black/gray so warm colors may not match up very well with her. Though the SWS does have a warm tone to it, so if it might be possible to find a earthtone color that would go well with it. might have to be a kind of toned down/neutral brown/blonde/etc.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's likely too. I'm still wondering what the limits of warmth are going to be though, and I'm hoping some blog shots of her in other wigs will give me some idea. Like for instance, how is she going to look in dark purple? How warm does a white/gray have to be to start looking weird? Or greens--how close can they get to yellow? Things like that. I'd also like to know what she looks like in other eyes, but I expect we're probably only going to see blog shots in her defaults or the Senbonzakura eyes since Volks doesn't seem to much like changing eyes.
