Haha. Well, one does not mention some things in polite company. But when a certain "Anime, manga and games" forum/site posted about the Hatsune Miku DD, many of the comments were about that sort of thing. So while she may be eliciting mainstream otaku/anime fan attraction, many still see her as a type of Dutch wife/other sort of device used for similar purposes.

miku is semi white skin, melty is normal skin. so the color would not match. gut news is volks now also sells completed type 3 bodies

As of right now, Miku is the regular two-piece torso. Anything could happen as the doll continues development over the course of the next year, but for now the notable thing about her torso is the new bust size option.

She IS cute... Probably won't get her though, so I can work on my custom. I may regret it, but at least she won't be as expensive secondhand!

I saw the SD photo and, eh. I saw the Miku photo and SQUEEEEEEEEEEE! Her face & wig are so cute. As a character who's been dressed in so many costumes, she's so perfect as a DD.

I totally caved in and pre-ordered Miku after two months of contemplating... >__> the fact that I have almost a year to save up for her is totally what did it for me... Evil, evil Volks making me feel comfortable with my saving schedule. I was just telling Shailara about how much I wanted her today and she was the one who more or less encouraged me to go with it, for which I'm grateful >< It feels like my bane, however, to be ordering just at the end of the pre-order periods xD the same thing happened with M.O.M.O...

Semi-white... hmm.. I don't like the color of the skin >.< any photos comparing all the skin color?

I think that particular photo is picking up a LOT of blue bounce light from the back drop. Other photos look a lot less greenish, and I've seen a couple semi-white girls in person, so while from an artistic point of view it's a nice shot it's not color accurate at all. (Not sure if I've got any good comparison shots of normal with semi-white from meets though. I'll have to dig, and maybe someone can beat me to it.)

I was planning on doing the skin color comparison when Kos-Mos and Momo get here, but that will be in a few days. It has been really difficult knowing what the SWS really looks like so far without looking at the body itself. I have yet to see a well-done and accurately lit close up comparison shot.

You know, I don't think that would hurt at all. Actually, maybe it'd be a good idea to have a skin tone comparison thread with multiple user's photos in it, a little like the body comparison threads. After all, it's not like Miku and KOS-MOS are the only semi-white girls, and people putting together customs would probably like to figure out if they want semi-white for their girls or not

Exactly! I'd love to get her some wigs and maybe eyes ahead of time. (Granted, I just got a couple of black wigs with my Dollheart lucky bags that I think'll be good on her, but I want to nab some other styles and colors too!) Don't really want to fork out for wigs only to realize they don't work on her.

Precisely~ x3 I'm thinking exactly the same thing~ I mean, wigs and eyes can get pretty expensive too so it's not very wise to blindly spend on them beforehand...

I actually do really like the twintails, but I know full well that with how long that wig is it's gonna be a pain to keep nice when taking her to meets, especially "out and about" meets like Matsuri, the Friendship Garden, and any convention. So I know I'll want something easier to manage for that, and if I can get another color that looks good on her I will for the sake of variety.

I already have two outfits ready for her arrival. Too bad it's going to be almost a year of waiting.
