Just a quick point of note for the Miku stuff. The following was originally written for (and applies to) Japanese in-store customers going to the DD Gathering this weekend, but I imagine something similar will be applied to web orders. I just haven't seen anything specific about that.

 

*Miku Hands: A few will be available for delivery at the event. When those run out, Volks will take orders for more hands. Unlike usual, there's not a pre-defined target number for orders, which means any customer can buy them. Orders will be open for three days, even, 11th-13th. During that time you can buy any Miku hands you want, up to 5 copies of each. Delivery for the made-to-order ones will be mid December.

 

*Miku Bodysuit: Similar to the hands - three days of orders, all people can buy them, and you can buy up to 5 suits. Major difference is this one is ALL pre-order for delivery in December, and none will be available this weekend.

 

Volks claims that they changed their mind on how these items were to be released so that more people can get ahold of the items. I took this to mean that they want every person to be able to avoid the aftermarket -- as long as you buy your hands or suits during the three days.

How I wish they would start releasing their dolls like that. Though I realize they might not be able to meet the demands so I guess my wish will remain just that, a wish.

I wonder if this is their way of trying to test a new way of releasing products too. They are probably no doubt aware of how people attend the gatherings then relist things just for profit. I hope it is successful and maybe gives them reason to do more of this on other items/dolls in the future too.

Well they usually do the pre-order project roughly every year and as these are extra accessories specifically for Miku alone I'm not too surprised. I wouldn't expect this for anything else unless it was part of a pre-order project. Further Miku outfits will probably be lottery but who knows?

If that's true that is SO awesome! I thought it was annoying that they weren't selling a set to complete what Miku comes with.

 

Edit, I thought I'd check the product page to see if it's been updated with this. It's been updated to include the tape, but not the hands, but it also says it includes "Owner-Limited Wig Order Form."

With the resin Belldandy, owners were allowed to order additional wigs that were identical to her default wig. I guess in case one was damaged, you had a pristine wig as back-up? So maybe something similar here?

Ooh, I hope USA customers get that option too. I'd like to have one nice wig and one to take to meets. Getting put on and off again has loosened the base of Nanoha's similarly-tied wig, to the point where I'm considering re-tying it, so having a Miku wig I don't have to re-tie would be nice. Alternatively, I could just leave one of the two loose, so she'd have hair down. . .

According to the official DD blog, it is for ordering Miku's wig. Normally this special order form only comes with the Japanese local edition of SD (not sure about DD), so I don't know how this will work with our orders from overseas.

It might be better to just buy a different wig for that. Miku has the full skin part at the back of her wig, so her hair won't lie properly if it's down. There will be a gap in the middle, and the hair will fall to the sides instead of straight down.

I got miku's body suit, sword hands and idol/ love hands ^-^

 

Too bad pre orders close Monday night (payday is Tuesday night XD )

I think if you look closely, you can see the gloves are just folded over on the hands that have fingers that don't point out

Depending on how you think you might use Miku, you may want to reconsider and get one pair of hands while you can. Get them for the wrist joint that comes with them, if nothing else, since that's something you normally have to buy the $75 pair of arms to get. Why's the wrist joint important? I'm betting that the nail art is fragile, so wiggling the vinyl hands off and on the wrist pegs might damage the paint over time (or even right away, who knows!). You might want an extra set of wrist joints for all the other hands you wanna use with Miku, so that you don't have to remove her defaults or paper-hands from their wrist pegs when changing them out.

 

'Tis a thought anyway. I bought an extra pair for this purpose myself, along with a Miku bodysuit to cover up the shoulder joints and make her look more seamless.

 

All the Miku stuff will ship separately in December. Some of the other items, like My Dear Vampire and Check My Note (Makoto), were that way as well.

Really stupid of Volks not to include the body suit with the doll. After all we're pre-ordering. So may as well pre-order the complete set. And the default outfit stains the default doll.

 

I'll never understand that company.

 

I'll just dress her up as is. If she stains, she'll stain. If I ever take pics and blog, I'll make sure of using that as an example of fine Japanese skill and quality control. If Volks wants to shame Japan, it's their problem.

Sadly the stain protection tape ruins your Dollfie if you leave it on for a long time. Example: http://www.dollfiedreams.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=11142 It ruined my girl's head.

Ah, I wasn't aware of the issues with the tape. Volks is asleep at the wheel quite a bit.

 

It's just as well they ran out though, I don't use their bodysuits anymore since I discovered Cool Cat. Way more variety in forms and they feel better made for less money.
