I thought so. Essentially then it isn't too hard to get a hold of (compared to an event wig) just inconvenient for those outside of Japan. Would it be something available through your (proxy? courier?) service? I'm just wondering for future reference.

Ah, if only that were true! I actually had to close the DollPoint request service indefinitely due to lack of stock of the DP-exclusive items in the store. Volks isn't making enough (on purpose) to satisfy demand in the Tokyo area, never mind the rest of Japan or overseas (via proxies who visit Akiba). They get new shipments once a month or so, but stock status just is not reliable enough to be able to go down to Akiba on demand. *grump*

 

Now, if Volks ever starts stocking the durn things reliably, then things will be different.

 

At least the event items you can mail-order from the comfort of your couch if you want .

 

The hime-cut dream wig probably would look adorable on Miku, in white or turquoise. I'm not sure if the wig in the photo is it, since the side-sprigs looked perhaps a little too long to be the hime-cut ones. Maybe?

I was thinking that it's probably titled forward. Otherwise, I don't think the bangs can be swept to the side like that :/

Thanks for the info SakuraSylph. I wasn't sure where where in Japan you were so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

 

Volks, you really aggravate me... you often seem to have your own brand of crazy. *sigh* Is it any wonder why I feel like the pre-order girls are the only ones to mostly be able to trust that you won't screw up somehow so I have something to depend on?

 

And let's not discuss the fact that Miku's hands SHOULD have been part of the beginning pre-order.

 

All that aside, I have to admit that I'm beginning to look forward to Miku getting here. In that way, I think the year wait has been good for me, giving me a chance to figure out what to do with her so she will actually fit into our household. Plus I've been playing with our Vocaloids again and having fun writing new lyrics to Christmas songs. In a couple of weeks Raven will be getting Miku's V3 voicebanks that include her English one. Since I'm the one that uses the Vocaloids the most (Raven has less free time) I've had to think about what I'd do with her. There is a Disney song I'm itching to re-write the lyrics for that could be pretty funny based around our version of Miku. I never would have expected that I'd be looking forward to working with Miku, but truth is stranger than fiction.

My Miku just arrived right now. She actually came with two pair of painted fingernail hands and some of the new semi-white protection tape. Now I'm off to getting her dressed up.

I bet Volks will reissue the Miku specific hands and bodysuit. Probably just in time for a second version of Miku, like Append, or one of the snow themed Mikus.

I wasn't aware of it being mentioned that she would be coming with the tape. It's probably just Volks way of advertising the tape and see how people like it.

 

I finally finished getting Miku dressed in her default outfit and it was pretty simple to put on. The sleeves and boots are both lined in white, which is nice. The legs will still be exposed to the zipper down the bottom of the calf though. Her wig is not easy to get on and was probably the hardest for me so far of all my girls. It's very tight and I see no way of getting a protective cap underneath it. Thankfully the wig cap is beige in color so it shouldn't stain, unless the hair fibers do, which I doubt they will.

They mentioned a while back that they were including the tape, it's also mentioned now on the Miku product page now.

I thought it would be like that, it's the same with my Crimson Sakuya's wig with twin tails. Using that with a head cap was really hard. You could try putting tape on the inside of the wig cap (putting it directly on vinyl is problematic).

I don't know about others, but I found Mariko's (student) wig hard to put on, so I'm guessing it'll be the same as that :/

My Miku arrived today as well! Agreed re her wig, definitely the hardest to get on so far.

Miku looks great in person! It's a shame to hear her wig is difficult to get on. D: Wasn't there something about Japanese customers getting a wig order sheet for their Mikus? Have any of the international orders come with those?

 

Edit: Nevermind. I saw on MFC that international orders did receive the wig order sheet, but that's it's all in Japanese.

Received my Miku in Canada just today. Additional wig order form is in Japanese only and it indicates that shipping is within Japan only. 8796 JPY for the wig + 800 JPY shipping (inside Japan only) and you can order just one. I'm wondering if Volks will be allowing international customers to order additional wig now.

 

Comes with 8 water decals for Miku's 01 marking on the arm. I think I'll just wait for the body suit to come since it has the 01 marking already.

So that means I will be getting Miku in December not February now? Woot! I am so happy to hear this.

I just read the FB announcement as well... which if I'm reading right, they're expecting all USA orders to pay by November 24th? Even those that are still slated for February 2014 shipment??? I'm emailing them immediately to clarify because that very much throws a kink in my plan to pay for her after they went ahead and gave us the news we wouldn't get her til February.

 

Per VolksUSA on their facebook page the Nov10/Nov24 payment deadline ONLY applies to those that ordered between 9/28 and 9/30. And in a reply to my email asking for clarification - the invoices for everyone else will go out sometime in February. Yaaay

February 2015 isn't too bad of a wait I was expecting the invoices to go out in February and then having to wait a month or two after that for the Mikus to actually ship out.

I have never been more glad that I made a point of ordering her on the first day! She WILL be my Christmas present! Or maybe New Year's present, but whatever, close enough. SO HAPPY~

 

Well, about getting her in December, that is. Volks USA has been getting increasingly useless, what with dropping lottery dolls, keeping high shipping, etc. So I'm not so sure that I'll be getting many things from them versus International in the future unless things change.

No joke. When I saw the FB announcement I literally yelled at my husband, quite irate at their sudden announcement of a payment deadline that appeared to apply to all customers that ordered her. That to me seems like sloppy PR/customer service. Even when I asked for clarification they didn't bother to update their FB post to reflect the info (yeah people could read the comments but still.. come on) and no clarifying email to tell people that the payment deadline was only for those that ordered at the tail end of September.

 

I just don't see the point of VolksUSA anymore - no limiteds, no preorders, and a website server package that crashes when 5 or more people try to use the site at one time that always crashes during clothing releases. Apart from replacement parts... the point of them is.....? Even with their UPS shipping rates, you could tech order things still from Volks Intl with EMS and it cost about the same and probably get to your house quicker!

 

VolksUSA should at least let *everyone* know their invoice totals now and give people the option to pay early if they want. Yes people could save their money and just wait, but I'd feel much better knowing I could make layaway style payments and know i'm paying it off vs having to save a big lump sum and hope to god nothing major happens between now and February to where I might be tempted to use the funds.
