SS? :/ Seems a bit extreme to me, but I haven't seen one in person, nor do I know what it's like to shop for.

 

Then again, I've always intended to characterize her as a robot/android, so if it really is a pain to buy stuff for I can always say she can change it like Ping in Megatokyo.

I'd have preferred at least S. I think S is cute. Especially for character dolls.

The majority of Chihayas haven't shipped yet, so there isn't much info on what SS is like in the wild. A comparison would be nice, but what I'm really curious about is how it affects what clothes fit and don't. With a regular S, she could share some of Nanoha's stuff with some being too loose, but SS I have no idea how much they'd share--or what to buy her to make up for what they can't.

SS-bust would be perfect for me, as then I'd have 3 different skintones AND 3 different bust-sizes on my DDs! I prefer my dolls on the flatter end of the spectrum, so this is an interesting option

I grabbed some pics of the SS body from auctions - it reminds me of SD13 bodies, with a small but noticeable bust. Still has the usual DD curves. I don't think they'll use it for Miku, though.

Yeah, it reminds me of the MDD S bust. Very small, but not as flat as a boy. Tamayuki had to be sanded down with his original bust so he didn't look like a girl.

Yup, and in tight fitting clothes it still looks like a girl's chest. Baggy clothes are a boy's best friend!

 

As for the SS body for Miku, I'm feeling kinda grumbly. On one hand I'm pretty sure from a lot of the artwork I've seen she should at least be an S bust. I'm not really a huge fan of the SS bust on a DD, the proportions just seem really off to me. It's just not my style. On the other hand it makes designing clothes really easy because she's much more the same proportions as an American Girl. Designing for them is like designing for a tree trunk. Miku will be the same but just a tree trunk with hips.

Yep, I see that the blog image already spilled the news, but at least I can say that it's not a 'shop: Volks News55 agrees. My initial estimation-by-sight was slightly off: Miku is indeed planned as Semi-White SS-Bust.

 

I think it's telling that I saw the Miku and SBZ prototype dolls and thought the clothes looked just right on her. (meaning, the choice is going to be a fine one!)

I kind of find putting her on a DD body a bit odd.

I'd think a DDS body would suit that chest a bit better, but I don't know the character.

For the Japanese, yes, you pay for Miku when she ships. Unsaid for the rest of the world, but it'll probably be just like Xenosaga.

My guess is they want to push their new product and having Miku using this new bust will get more people exposed to it and hopefully like it. I think a S or at most a M would be good in my book. Is she the unibody torso again like Chihaya? If she's not at least upgrading her won't be so bleeping difficult (assuming volks keeps their semi white replacement parts stocked better). I'm not a super big fan of the treetrunk-hip style.. XD but at least we can swap out what we dont like and be able to customize her to our liking

Yeah, wish she was s instead of ss. We have an s sws girl (Alice) and that's small enough for me XD I hope she's gonna be a two part torso since we have an extra s sws bust laying around XD

Am I the only one dying to know how the painted nail hands thing is going to work? I'm guessing she comes with one pair by default, but I'm talking about option hands. They've definitely got them; borrowing SakuraSylph's shots, in this shot her right hand at least is the standard default hand, but in this next one she's definitely got paper-pose hands.

 

Knowing Volks MO, they're probably going to be sold separately, but I'm wondering which option hands they'll be doing (they'd better have gripping hands 06 and/or 08, too useful not to have), if they'll cost any more than standard hands, and if they'll be individual pairs or bundled together. (Did VN 55 cover this and I just missed it?)

Does it specifically say on her details that they are painted hands? I kinda wonder if they might be stickers like they've done before with tattoos. Would be uber cheap of Volks to do that, but that might explain why they've had other hand options shown with the nail color since you could just add them to whatever hands you preferred?

I know there is a running joke in the MMD videos about Miku's small breasts. But, I think a S bust would be more appropriate.

 

Still, based on her original Vocaloid box art it is a close call.

The original art does tend toward SS. But later materials can go either way. SS is more unique atm, so Volks selecting it doesn't bother me since I don't have or plan to have Chihaya.

I'm surprised they chose SS, but I only know Miku through toys and figures. Still, this means SS will probably be a standard option eventually, and there will be more clothes for my Chihaya, so I approve for purely selfish reasons!

With the SS bust, then my girls will all have different bust sizes. Plus, I like flat chests. I wonder how many future DD releases will have SS bust?
