Volks JP at Magical Mirai 2013 Hatsune Miku Event

oooo~ I hope in the future they release extra Miku outfits and option wigs (like the pink and light blue versions). I can't wait to see closer pics of that Senbonzakura outfit, it's an outfit I wanted for a doll since I first saw it.

While I'm a really big Miku fan I don't know if I want a Miku DD... gonna have to wait for more pictures.

All right guys, it's 1am and I'm back from Yokohama. Here's the story right from Magical Mirai.

 

DD Hatsune Miku is real. Volks was advertising the stuffing out of her, and rightly so; I have a tote bag with DD Miku on it and also a really nice advertising brochure. This thread already got some pictures of them from twitter (as I figured; this wouldn't stay quiet for long), but I can take big / clear pictures of them later. True to their word Volks wasn't selling anything, they just had a display. But what a display.

 

*Preorder Project: Hatsune Miku

*DD3 Semi-White S-bust [not written down in the published doll info, but I can tell by looking]

*Head by Misaki Serika

*Painted nails

*Water-applique "01 HatsuneMiku" shoulder decal

*Comes in her most famous default outfit.

*Boots zip all the way up to mid-thigh (they're boots not socks).

*2-month order period, estimated delivery fall 2014. Sorry, it's another year wait.

 

*Senbonzakura is planned, as of now, to be sold as an outfit / shoes / wig / eyes set. Like Mashiro's Hakama set. I didn't think to ask if this would be preorder too or something else - there was zero info about SBZ written anywhere, so I know only what I could get the Volks people to tell me.

 

Volks brought the prototype dolls(!!), one of Miku and one of Senbonzakura, and that was their whole booth.

 

Both dolls looked really, really good in person so far. I've seen lots of Miku dollfies at Dolpas, and the official one takes the cake because Volks put so much effort into it. The small detailing on Miku's outfit and headset, for instance, is excellent. Senbonzakura was similarly high quality, and I love her geta boots. I actually liked SBZ the better of the two, but then again I have a thing for traditional-Japanese style outfits in any form.

 

I ended up wandering by their booth every couple of hours on my way to something, and had to keep stopping in to look at the dolls again. (and again). Color me interested so far.

Thank you for the detail information, SakuraSylph. It's always such a pleasure reading your reports. For someone who will never be able to be there physically, these really make my day. I enjoy them a lot. I'm even more excited now for the preorder to open. I hope the Senbonzakura set will also be a preorder.

Thanks so much for the inside scoop! Thought she looked like an S bust. (So she can share some stuff with Nanoha, but not all.) It's also good to hear that the details hold up to close inspection like that, since there's so many of them. I still hope someone managed to get good shots of the prototypes, but given how much convention center lighting usually sucks I'm not really expecting it at this point.

 

I know a lot of people are gonna be whining about the one-year preorder, but for me I think it works out perfectly! That'll give me time to work up a buffer of money after getting Homura put together.

Yeah, I'd say so. I liked what I saw, enough to be serious about getting both Miku and the SBZ outfit. I would have bought the prototype dolls for twice the price and brought them home today, if they had been for sale.

One year Pre-order is perfect! Gives me time to get my finances sorted after getting out first mortgage and buying furniture !!

I still hope someone managed to get good shots of the prototypes, but given how much convention center lighting usually sucks I'm not really expecting it at this point.

Some may come out.. Because of the way the dolls were situated the Volks people weren't able to "guard" them against pictures 100% of the time.

 

Most photos you see will probably be bad, though, due to attendees needing to take them surreptitiously. There was a sign there right in the doll case that said "for Magical Mirai consumption only. ABSOLUTELY no pictures."

That's exactly what I was hoping she'd be :D I don't want to add any more Normal skin dolls to my collection if I can help it, plus I don't want Shia and Iris to be bigger than any new girl I add (not including MDD).

Preorders don't start till September 28. We should be seeing some more promo shots cropping up between now and then. (I'm hoping for lots of DD Blog shots like the Touhou and Saber pre-orders; those were a lot more convincing than the regular promo shots.)

Thank you so much for the info, Sakurasylph. 1 year sounds absolutely perfect, looks like this will be a definite pre-order. She may just be the first girl to come to our house and actually stay as the original character. I guess this means that now I'll have to start working on building the custom Luka I've had floating around in my head for a while.

Even though I'm seriously not a Miku fan, I am so excited to see Raven nearly bouncing off the walls over a girl he has to have. I pretty much dragged him into getting Momo because I knew he would regret it later. But Miku is his second girl all of his own choosing, something I was a bit afraid wouldn't happen. He can be more stubborn than me when he chooses to! She's definitely going to be a girl to cause some chaos in our household with Yuriko and Momo being fangirls, Naiomi already possessing a passionate vendetta against her, Kiyoteru being in the works, and Ringo having the tendency to write alternate stories of her family and friends for her own amusement (otaku Miku! ), I don't see our household calming down anytime soon. One thing I do dread is once Tamayuki realizes that both Naiomi and Yuriko get to meet their Vocaloid idols, I think MDD Len would rise drastically on his list.

 

I definitely agree that Volks should do the Snow Miku outfit... honestly it's the only version of her that I like, I just haven't wanted to admit it to Raven. If they don't it's not a big deal to me because Raven's already going to have me do all of her outfits from the concert of hers that he has been watching for years. I have to say that the user pic on FigureFM has me at least a little impressed, she might be a bit cuter than I expected. If nothing else, she is so well worth the cost to see Raven so happy.

But yeah, Miku will cause some chaos in my house too. I've always pictured her as a bit of a trickster, and envisioned her as an AI android. Trickster + instinctively good with electronics = trouble. XD I have no idea yet though if she and Agatha are going to hate each other, or be best friends forever. I'm also not sure which prospect is more frightening.

With such a long latent period between order and payment, many of these preorder dollfies will probably not be sold initially. Wonder what Volks will do with them? Offer them through the cart? Maybe a lottery later on?

 

Even with ordinary lotteries, there is still enough stock for Volks to bother making a shopping cart or second lottery event. There should be more here.

As nice as she is, and I am gonna preorder her, I think that wig is going to stain that head. Sakura Shinguji's wig stained her head too.
