Volks JP at Magical Mirai 2013 Hatsune Miku Event

hi everyone, im curious on the volks preorder since i never preorder before. do we pay in advance when we preorder or do we pay when its ready to be ship?

It depends on where / how you order. In Japan payment is done at the very end on pickup, but it may be different elsewhere. More specific rules will be published when the preorder period opens in a few weeks.

I preordered M.O.M.O from Volks on 2013/01/14 and so far they haven't asked me or anyone else I know of to pay. I would assume it would be a similar procedure with Miku. So it's probably payment when ready to ship.

ic, cause i was suppose to order a body for my first DD today after volks update the price. im afraid that if they ask for payment in advance, i wont make it in time after buying a body.

Why is Miku's mouth not smiling? and her eyes are too narrow. I don't know how to feel. A beautiful girl to be sure, but I know something is wrong when Fate Harlaown looks more like Miku than the official does. I will probably still order her, though only because she resembles Rin Tohsaka. Her hair looks amazing and the outfit is wonderful.

The preorders only open on 28 Sep and are expected to last ? 2 months. So you have 3 months in the worst case scenario.

But yeah, Miku will cause some chaos in my house too. I've always pictured her as a bit of a trickster, and envisioned her as an AI android. Trickster + instinctively good with electronics = trouble. XD I have no idea yet though if she and Agatha are going to hate each other, or be best friends forever. I'm also not sure which prospect is more frightening.

 

I absolutely LOVE the idea of a were-Len. And Tama would be so much cooler (and far more creative) than my previous idea of a character who switches back and forth between Rin and Len.

 

I can't imagine the chaos that would going on when you add an electronics tinkerer to the mix with a stema tinkerer and a magical girl. With that many different energies being constantly messed with I'd be terrified to find out what would happen once projects start getting mixed and girls start trying to "improve" each-others creations.

 

I'm rather impressed that Miku inspired you to jump into ordering a 4th girl so soon, seeing as you had been holding steady at two for so long.

Seriously! Plus you're forgetting Homura, who's definitely going to get put together before Miku ships. (That gap, if Miku gets charged at shipping, is probably the one thing that'll make it possible to get both of them home.) I was thinking about how Miku and Agatha might interact last night, and remembered in the Girl Genius comics how Agatha has a habit of humming when she's working to help herself concentrate.So a new girl who sings? Yeah, they might get along for quite a few projects after all. . .

 

Well, the thing is, I've wanted a DD Miku for literally *years* now. In fact, I've wanted her back when I started saving for my first, in 2009. (I didn't know at the time my first would be Agatha, lol.) So it's like I finally get a chance to nab my unicorn, except she was a phantom unicorn until now. So that takes care of Factor 1 of doll acquisition for me, which is being ridiculously in love enough to get me to press the order button. The other factor is monetary; I got both Agatha and Nanoha when I was still in college and had very little money, so I pretty much had to wait a year and a half to get them. Now I've got a job, and have been essentially a money squirrel, so there's somewhat less panic over having two dolls with overlapping arrivals. XD

Thanks bunches for the link! Gah, she's just gorgeous. Seriously, she's exactly what I wanted facially, perfect for the version of Miku I had in my head when I tried to write a Vocaloid fanfic ages ago. Only thing I'm not sure on is her eyes, and that's really not too hard to change.

I never knew you thought about this! So that means I can still make a Len MDD someday and he can cross-dress into his own sister! Even if it doesn't happen I know Tama has been pestering me to make him both a Len and Hunny cosplay outfits. I'm not sure how well he'd do as Hunny though, I'm sure that Yuriko would want him to eat as much cake as Hunny and poor Tama-chan would be sick for days.

That would definitely be interesting for a Halloween photo story some year.

Wow she is inexpensive. That is amazing. Normally Volks releases two dolls at once, does anyone think there will be another DD released with Miku? Or will it just be Miku and her outfit?

People are saying she looks nothing like Miku mold-wise. I think they did a great job personally.

 

 

Her eyes are similar to Chihaya's, if a little wider. And in my opinion she doesn;t have a huge smile. Kind of playfull and cheeky. Of course she could be better, but it's got to be nigh on impossible to recreate an anime style character in vinyl perfectly.

She's got kind of an "original Saber" mouth, I think. Like a super subtle kitty mouth, so it can look like a smile or a frown.

 

And yes, sculpting anime-style faces that aren't creepy as hell is freakin' hard. I've tried. ^^;

Yes it is the cute, mischievous, slightly curved Serika mouth style. Like Rin Tohsaka and Aoko.

 

I thought she looked quite a lot like Miku's illustrations, which is unusual in a doll sculpt. Actually, the thing that impressed me the most was her overall attention to detail. I had imagined for many years what a DD Miku might look like if they made one, and the prototype result was even better than what I imagined she might be like. Now that's a positive first impression!

She really looks a lot closer to the illustrations that I consider iconic Miku than I would have expected. I love how her expression seems to change from various angles. Sculpts that manage to do that are always my favorites, especially because of the versatility. Personally I was afraid that if they ever made her that they would choose some odd illustration I'd never seen before to base her off of.

 

I really hope her tattoo does come pre-attached. I'm not sure that I could manage to place it myself well at all.

It would most likely be next Halloween because I have some other things I'm going to do this year. Plus Miku will hopefully be here by then and Kiyoteru finished, yet I get the distinct impression that Naiomi would have something to do with Tama's unexpected change... I haven't figured out what kind of magic she has, but it always seems to be related to bodies.

Dude, if it does need to be attached, don't worry about it. You should know that by now. Just because you don't feel like you could do it, doesn't mean that I can't. It's not like you don't know how picky I am.

SQ Lab seem to do it better than Volks though.

 

Looking at the pics DC has of a custom Miku, I became a little worried thinking these were official ones from the 30th. But thankfully the official Miku's face looks much better than that one, IMHO.

 

My only gripe is with Volks' Miku is that she has boots and not thighhigh socks. I guess one can easily mod that. She is however most gorgeous. It'll be fun to preorder her.

And I can't find a terribly clear picture of 'Magnet'. But if they release Luka with her, I can see them doing that. But I can really see them doing 'World is Mine' because it's just so iconic for Miku.

Well, atleast the miku and Luka pullips came with a leek, and tunafish... So you'd imagine Volks would atleast try to make even with that?

 

(EDIT: On second thaught, knowing volks those would probably be sold as separate accessories, for about 5000 yen each..)

I can imagine Volks doing the leek as some sort of optional accessory. . . maybe bundled with the painted-nail hands, since they've clearly got more than one hand pose painted in that booklet.

 

As for outfits, I would have loved Miku Append (or as I think of it, "Tron Miku"). That's the only one that sprang immediately to mind, though the burgundy outfit second from upper left and the little red riding hood one second from the upper right in this Project Diva compilation would be pretty tempting. A lot of others from the game or floating around the interwebs would really depend on execution more than just overall design to get me excited.

 

Mitsuki, thanks for the comparison! Really shows the roots of influence in her, but also see how they add up to something different.
