Cristal Zhaduir Posted September 1, 2013 People are saying she looks nothing like Miku mold-wise. I think they did a great job personally. Her eyes are similar to Chihaya's, if a little wider. And in my opinion she doesn;t have a huge smile. Kind of playfull and cheeky. Of course she could be better, but it's got to be nigh on impossible to recreate an anime style character in vinyl perfectly. It's because this Miku is based on Ixima's Illustrations of Miku ^^ :

They may even include it with an alternate outfit. I also believe she'll be a standalone release from Volks since the collab name is 'Hatsune Miku x Dollfie Dream' and not 'Vocaloid x Dollfie Dream', but I'm hopefully wrong and we'll see a DDS Rin or a DD Luka. WoundedNight64 Posted September 2, 2013 thats evil But since its a preorder you're guaranteed to get one, so by ordering more than one you're not depriving anyone else. I'd get two if I were able to, but sadly one is all I can afford. At home; DDH-07 'Medea', Saving for; A body and Saber Lily ^_^ Waiting for:
baldylox Posted September 2, 2013 I'm betting on the limit of one Miku per person/address due to the fact that the Saber debacle of almost 2 years ago nearly killed Volks' production of DD bodies and parts. The preorder for Saber Extra and Saber Alter V2 was wide open, no limits on how many you could order. Volks didn't predict how many Sabers would actually get ordered and the sheer volume of them put Volks in a bind big time. They couldn't keep up with the preorders and the Sabers deliveries got pushed back by months. And the regular production of blank DDII bodies and DD3 parts almost came to a standstill due to this. Volks lost a lot of potential money because of all that. This is why the preorders for KOSMOS and MOMO were limited to one each and everyone is thinking it will be the same for Miku. I'm not 100% sure on this but Miku is pretty damn popular, moreso than Saber is. And because of her popularity, a large scale doll/figure of her is going to be popular too. So if you had open orders for two months with no limits, you can bet Volks would be very overwhelmed with orders for her. They know they screwed up on the Saber preorders and I think they've learned their lessons there. This is why people are pretty sure Miku will be limited to one per household/person/address. Personally I don't see anything wrong with ordering more than one of Miku. But there should still be *some* limit to them so we don't have people ordering 20 of them just to turn around and try to gouge prices on Ebay with them. That didn't really happen with Saber tho so that may not even be an issue. The good thing about a preorder is that you're guaranteed to get one. The bad thing is that if you miss the preorder period then you're stuck paying aftermarket prices. And with Miku, anything related to her is either going to be expensive or hard to get as is usual. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

idiolect Posted September 2, 2013 I sort of wish her outfit was based on the V3 Miku (I generally prefer her with a white shirt), but she's still stunning. And it does capture how she looks in most famous illustrations. Why is Miku's mouth not smiling? and her eyes are too narrow. I don't know how to feel. A beautiful girl to be sure, but I know something is wrong when Fate Harlaown looks more like Miku than the official does. She is smiling a little... The eyes were bugging me at first too (I always imagined DD Miku to look somewhat like a DDH-06... quite a difference) but they look pretty good from the front actually. And Fate didn't look like Miku at all, don't exaggerate.

And with Miku, anything related to her is either going to be expensive or hard to get as is usual. Thanks for the insight. Hmmm but with the lottery, you also only get 2-3 days to enter, and maybe another day or so for the actual event if you go in person, send a friend or pay someone to go, so you're still better off with the preorder period where the time span is supposed to be 2-3 months. One thing I'm curious about: does Volks keep some stock to compensate customers whose DDs arrive damaged or "dead on arrival" maybe with serious faults from the factory? Or do they just refund the money? At home: DD Sakura Shinguji, DDS Yukiho Hagiwara, DD Asuna, DD Rina Ogata, DDS MOMO, DDS Ranko Kanzaki. baldylox Posted September 2, 2013 Thanks for the insight. No problem. And yes, the lottery system never guarantees you getting a limited girl, even at the event itself you're not guaranteed. Many people here on the forums have gone to events, done everything right and still not been able to get the girl they wanted due to drawing a bad number or the supply running out too quickly, etc. So a preorder is definitely the way to go if you like the girl and think you may want her. At least you're sure to get her and if she isn't what you expected when she arrives, you can resell her. One thing I'm curious about: does Volks keep some stock to compensate customers whose DDs arrive damaged or "dead on arrival" maybe with serious faults from the factory? Or do they just refund the money? Well, this depends on what parts are broken and if Volks deems them to actually be broken or not. There was a HUGE issue with Sabers arriving in the US with cracks in the shoulder tubes and hip sockets as soon as they were pulled from the boxes. This means they were cracked right out of the factory BEFORE anyone did anything with them. In many cases, Volks US was told by Volks Japan that these were not defects and nothing could be done. This got a lot of people extremely mad and I don't blame them. SOME people got replacement inner torso parts but it was a small number. And this leads to another issue with the Sabers... They replace broken/missing parts But in some cases these are pretty unique parts. Thanks. Saber Lily's wig had a ponytail that was not attached well and it had a habit of falling off or breaking off even when handling with care. So many of these had issues that Volks couldn't replace them all and stopped giving them out. From what I heard only a small number of replacement Lily wigs were even available. When Saber Extra and Saber Alter arrived, Volks included a piece of paper showing how to put the wigs on properly and also stating that broken wigs would NOT be replaced. Even tho people had big problems with some of these wigs not fitting properly and taking 30 minutes to get on the heads, Volks basically washed their hands of any issues with that note. So banking on Volks to fix issues easily isn't always a viable option. Recently tho, I've heard of them going a step above their old ways and doing some replacements of bodies and such but this isn't the norm for them. If you read the website and the paperwork that comes with the DD's, it states you only have 14 days from the time the DD or whatever Volks product arrives for a warranty. Even then you have to include detailed descriptions of the issues as well as photos. After this you must wait to hear back from them to see if they accept these problems as being under warranty. Like I said before tho, here recently, they've replaced several full bodies to people I know due to what they said was a manufacturing error on various bodies sold. Volks voluntarily mailed out replacement bodies without asking for any photos or info and they didn't ask for the bad parts to be sent back to them either ( which they normally do ). I was amazed when I heard this and can only applaud them for taking care of issues so quickly and easily. Hopefully this answers the questions you had. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Their general "our way or the highway" and the unapologetic shibboleth "we apologise for the inconvenience" is telling. It's quite strange because when I dealt with Kyocera Japan over a small problem with one of their consumer products, I got a free replacement product (one of their premium products too) sent by EMS to me from Kyoto without having to send any photos. It wasn't even in their geographical region of business. Volks' quality issues are also sometimes not in line with what one expects from "Made in Japan" products, at least not since the 90s. Beyond what you described, issues such as Sakura Shinguji's default wig staining her head, or Rina Ogata's black outfit staining her body. Now they do say "use a cap or a body stocking" but they don't include one with the dollfie and she comes as a full kit, and the pictures don't indicate one is used either, seems to me to be a cheap cop out. They probably won't open an EU store or they'll get hammered by consumer complaints and need to actually process customer warranties. Thanks again for the detailed explanation of issues surrounding Saber. I guess one has to just live with Volks when one is enslaved to their products. And Fate didn't look like Miku at all, don't exaggerate. One thing that kept me from making a custom Miku (the other being the details in her outfit) is that there's so many interpretations of her, all of them making an impact on consumer consciousness. Granted, her dynamic, consumer-generated media image is one of the things that makes and keeps her so popular, but in a way it's like trying to make an ultimate Doctor from Doctor Who--there's such a wide range, and everyone has their own individual preference. There's the cute LAT-type Miku, the super-serious Append Miku, Tripshots' intense Miku, and tons of others I'm either not remembering or flat-out don't know about. Basically, with that many versions of her, satisfying the majority of fans is a lot harder even than usual. I'm extremely lucky in that the Volks Miku totally fits my mental image of her, but a lot of mine comes from a fanfiction I tried to write once where she was a singing android that rebelled against her creators--hardly a standard interpretation at all, I think. ^^; (No, you can't read it; it was from an early writing stage when I didn't know how to properly plan a plot. XD Maybe someday I'll revisit it.) Still, I did see some people popping in the thread earlier who liked her face but didn't care for her being Miku, so maybe those of you who are more inclined for a cutesy, LAT-Miku can look into joining a split for her clothes and wig, and making an 06/04/modded 01 Miku instead? In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

baldylox Posted September 2, 2013 Thanks Billy. I figured Volks was not a very consumer centric company. Their general "our way or the highway" and the unapologetic shibboleth "we apologise for the inconvenience" is telling. They probably won't open an EU store or they'll get hammered by consumer complaints and need to actually process customer warranties. Heh, it's not that I think Volks is a terrible company by any means, I just wanted you to know how they've worked in the past. It makes things even more difficult if you don't live in japan if you have an issue. I'm certain that if you did live there, bought from a local store and had an issue, you could easily go back to the store and talk to someone about it and have them try and resolve it for you. Being in different countries, time zones and speaking another language all attribute to making things harder when problems arise. I've always had issues with them making clothing that stains. To me, if you make a product specifically FOR another product you sell and you KNOW it will damage that product, why release it? Aren't there quality controllers that are supposed to do just that? Check to see if the product is good and works properly? But I digress.... Japanese companies do things differently than others so I can't say who is to blame for this or why these things occur. I just know that when I see something from Volks that looks nice, I have to weigh the fact that it may stain my girl or not be exactly what I'm thinking it should be. Thanks again for the detailed explanation of issues surrounding Saber. I guess one has to just live with Volks when one is enslaved to their products. You're welcome. And yes, we ARE enslaved by them! They're such cruel masters too. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
