nogo171 Posted June 20, 2013 Hi everyone! Only till when I decided to change up my girls' casual outfit for winter (yes it is winter in Australia, in June, totally weird lol), I realized that all the clothes were totally a mess (in fact I knew all the way from beginning but just ignored it haha). So wardrobe project was started even though I had no experience in any wood work before Flashback 2 weeks ago, here was a quick sketch on a 2D software for a 3D object, sounded painful enough from the beginning. It was totally nightmare to take into measurements the thickness of the material. Then fortunately somehow I pulled off everything without any wrong measurements. A whole week of calculation did help lol Ready for some paint job. I only managed to do a bit of painting in the dark because of work so it turned out not the best. Damn winter, it's already dark at 4pm! I forgot to take any photos during the decoration process so we can skip all the boring process. Here comes the final wardrobe ^^ . I'm a guy and don't really fancy pink but my girls love it so what can I do lol. But I guess pink and black is much better than pink and white already... On the right side, top shelf is for head piece (I love headbands) and jewelry. Second shelf is for tee, third is for pants and skirts. The bottom one is for all of the bags, and some ... food! For the purpose of taking photos and showing the most of the wardrobe, about 30% of the stuff was still left in boxes lol. I already regretted that didn't go for a bigger one but then I can always do a second one Some more angles You can tell it was not the best paint job obviously... Madoka chan on a Parabox 45cm body is helping to show the proportion Akira chan is also helping. She looks tall because of the skinny jeans, I know, super tall lol. Some might wonder why didn't go for a taller wardrobe. I purposely did this because my girls are sitting most of the times so I think it might look better. So that is the new wardrobe for my girls. After finishing this piece and have everything in, I realize it's hard, very hard to be organized so I don't think I'm going to buy any new clothes soon lol. Or at least have to let some go first otherwise I will end up having to make another wardrobe haha. Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy! finnleo Posted June 20, 2013 That is a pretty nice piece of kit. Im guessing its made from 10mm thick MDF, or chipboard?

nogo171 Posted June 20, 2013 That is a pretty nice piece of kit.Im guessing its made from 10mm thick MDF, or chipboard? It was a made from 12mm MDF actually. I'd love to have the 10mm just to make measurement less painful lol but 12mm was the thinnest I can find locally. Just nails, no glue at all but should be strong enough for doll clothes I guess. That's awesome !You made a really nice work and the result is just too good ! I want one too now *O* Thank you ^^. It wasn't that complicated and I believe you can eventually do one too. Or reusing a cupboard will save you much effort Great job! I found a $19 doll wardrobe at kmart that I bought. my woodworking skills are very limited >w< Oh hey Oz ^^, that's interesting. I've been wandering around Kmart finding stuff for dolls but never seen such wardrobe. Is it for 1/3 doll too? Where have you purchased the coat hangers?? And Akira's outfit/camera is very cute too! What brand is it?The wardrobeis cuuute, I'd like to make one too!! It's great that you found everything cute because my girls love cute things haha. The hangers were from TREE design but they were quite pricey. I don't remember clearly but certainly not the best deal out there. I just happen to love wooden things and can't really find it anywhere else lol. Akira's outfit is from Korea, I don't really remember the actual stores but they were quite general items, not exclusive ones that a lot of stores stock, such as TTYA or Princess-doll, or whn I remember I will tell ya . And the camera is from eBay, it is meant to be a USB flash drive but just happens to fit DD At home Haruka (Haruka Niimi), Akira (Akira), Saber (Saber Alter), Madoka (Madoka SQ-Lab), Rise (Rise Kujikawa), Yukiho (Yukiho Hagiwara) & Touka (DDH-07)
Oni-Chan Posted June 20, 2013 It's just a basic wooden doll wardrobe. It's perfect for 1/4 or MSD, but would be used for DD or 1/3 I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*
tinydollproblem Posted June 20, 2013 It turned out awesome! I really want to make a wardrobe for my girl, but I don't think she has enough clothes yet. It'd look so sad and empty.
Innocentsake Posted June 20, 2013 This is a really nice wardrobe you've made for your girls! I love that you made this even though you've never done this kind of project before My favorite part is where all the lil shelves are

Your girls definitely will still love it even it is emptied. The real displayed wardrobe barely has any clothes but it still looks great as long as you like it hehe. And don't worry to much because it will get filled much quicker than you can imagine lol This is a really nice wardrobe you've made for your girls! I love that you made this even though you've never done this kind of project before My favorite part is where all the lil shelves are Thanks for your comment! I do realize that I tend to do a lot of things for my girls which I don't think I will ever do for myself haha It's just a basic wooden doll wardrobe. It's perfect for 1/4 or MSD, but would be used for DD or 1/3 Oh that is cute, I've never seen this one in any of the sections @@ It'd be even better if i had some shelves. But I like the doors. Indeed I was going to make doors as well to keep dust away but can't find any small hinges yet. The thin board cannot handle normal hinges At home Haruka (Haruka Niimi), Akira (Akira), Saber (Saber Alter), Madoka (Madoka SQ-Lab), Rise (Rise Kujikawa), Yukiho (Yukiho Hagiwara) & Touka (DDH-07)

The thin board cannot handle normal hinges I think it's just new, I snapped it up even though they're saying they're keeping high stock of toys up until xmas. I had seen a Cute white square wardrobe with a small drawer at the base at toyworld but they wanted $40 for that (even though it seems like they're closing down) Im thinking of adding small hooks inside the doors for belts, hats, jewelry etc, and you could always add a small step or pole of shoes at the bottom. I added some clothes etc to the wardrobe now http://princessoni.wordpress.com/2013/06/20/shopping-trip-6/ I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*

Distractus Posted August 10, 2013 This is amazing. I HAVE to do this now. xD I think I'll try to make a sliding door style one though. I have a wardrobe with a large cabinet on the top of it I'm turning into a large room for my dolls to sit in. This will just be perfect. Thanks so much for sharing your project! I love seeing projects like this! x3
nogo171 Posted August 12, 2013 Recommend a good place to buy some clothes for an mdd? I think there's plenty of suggestion in the Vendors Feedback forum so you might want to have a look? Most of the "mass-production" one can be found quite easily across some well-known makers/dealers mentioned in that forum. If you want to look for something a bit more original or one off, etsy will be a good one. I just normally type in MDD clothes. This is amazing. I was thinking of doors to so that dust can be kept away but I wasn't so confident in my woodwork skills lol. However I suggest you going for a open-type doors rather than sliding since the wardrobe size will be rather small and it won't feel as comfortable as the human one when you want to have a look at everything. But sounds like you have a plan so looking forward to seeing it At home Haruka (Haruka Niimi), Akira (Akira), Saber (Saber Alter), Madoka (Madoka SQ-Lab), Rise (Rise Kujikawa), Yukiho (Yukiho Hagiwara) & Touka (DDH-07)

pandy Posted December 6, 2013 wow i'm very impressed with your work! o.o it's so life like...and you are sure you never done something like this before? D: you really do have some talent there. How much did it cost you to make it in total? would you be willing to give tips to other's who want to make something similar ? ^^ This is just so neat.. I can't really say much more then that! And hey no shame in pink, pink is for power. And I always cringe when people bring up those stereotypes of how blues for guys pinks for girls XD I know you didn't mean it that way but its so funny as I find more girls who love blue and guys who love pink lol still even if you don't like pink it looks nice and came together well with the black. NekoMama Posted December 7, 2013 I'm also interested in some sort of diagram/schematic for those of us who can't design. And an estimated supply cost would be helpful for future planning.
