Oni-Chan Posted June 25, 2013 Hi everyone! I did a quick search of topics so I hope this hasn't been done before. I was wondering if people take a "Supplies kit" when they go on outdoor photoshoots? I was thinking of making one with items like blankets/mats, props/accessories, duster/small brush for sweeping the ground a little so it doesn't dirty our girls and such. What would you add, and is it a good idea? I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*
archangeli Posted June 25, 2013 I carry a little pencil case with a few must-haves whenever I go to meets. It contains: - small piece of Magic Eraser - small spray bottle of water (for cleaning with Magic Eraser, or just to tame wig hairs temporarily) - water wax for stubborn hairs in wigs - a little baggie with doll-sized safety pins, hair clips and hair pins - spare hands - toothbrush for brushing wigs - a few of my name cards to trade with other collectors Depending on which doll I'm bringing, I might also put the Volks wig mist or wig oil into the pouch too. battrastard Posted June 26, 2013 A tripod will work wonders, especially if it's a bit windy. (even just a small one!) Take care of yourself, too... A few light snacks and definitely some extra water! Living out in the desert, water is essential! But, you can get dehydrated anywhere!! Spare batteries for your camera, I'd think.... Otherwise, looks like you've got the basics pretty well covered... Oh, yeah, Have Fun! "Madness takes it's toll, Please have exact change!"
Poofiemus Posted June 26, 2013 I agree, tripods are magic! And on the hydration thing. Nothing kills your patience for a shoot like being dehydrated man. Also, while I don't have much to add to this hypothetical collection, I do want to say, when choosing your bag, pick one that will let you keep your hands free. Something with a shoulder strap, or a backpack. It's WAY easier to juggle your stuff when you can sling it out of the way while taking a shot, without having to actually put it on the ground. This is especially true when you're shooting solo and don't have other people to remind you when you're being stupid and leaving something behind. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
Innocentsake Posted June 26, 2013 These are the items that can typically be found inside my Volks carrying bag when I'm taking my girls out for the day -Pink blanket for the girls to lie on inside the carrying bag -A small white cloth to clean off dust -Box of hands -Brushes -Doll Stand -Small Tripod -Extra SD Card (Very important for me! I tend to forget to put my SD card back in the camera after taking photos off it ^^; I usually only bring props if I have something specific in mind (same goes for extra outfits). Even then I try not to bring too many with me as I'm quite forgetful and wouldn't want to lose anything I take out with me.

atrika Posted June 27, 2013 bring a bounce card. white side of mounting board works fine. you can use it to shape the light should you need it. it can double as a white balance too, and to block light or wind. zakka Posted July 8, 2013 -Extra SD Card (Very important for me! I tend to forget to put my SD card back in the camera after taking photos off it ^^; Everyone else seems to be so much more prepared than I am!! This is me right here. I now keep all of my SD cards in my camera bag... especially after hiking for two hours up a mountain to one of the best views in Seoul... and realizing you left the SD card at home. Kunoichi Ribeiro Posted January 14, 2016 All those items are good, but i also put a pair of rubber gloves to touch my dolls depending of the place.
galatia9 Posted January 14, 2016 Great suggestions. I like to take a friend with me if I can, to run interference with the public while I'm distracted with the camera and the dolls. Plus, a friend can be a catcher, in case a doll starts to tip over while you're behind the camera. Also, a vinyl tablecloth might be handy if you'll be kneeling on the ground or in wet grass. I always find myself crawling on the ground if I am photographing my dolls outdoors!
