fudgecakes Posted June 27, 2013 So I've been trying to get up my post count on DOA to access the marketplace and had a few of my posts deleted because I wasn't supposed to post there whoops >w< I feel silly .u.
baldylox Posted June 27, 2013 Pffftt... don't worry about it. DoA is full of mods who love to throw their weight around for no good reason. I've been a member there for over 2 years now and I rarely make any posts. I mainly just check the local meetup threads and that's it. There is so much venom and bitterness there it's scary. So many little cliques and people who think you aren't any good unless you own a certain type of doll. It's all total BS and I'm really glad *these* boards don't have that kind of atmosphere. I know DoA has a vast amount of knowledge available and I don't blame people for wanting to go there and be active. But for me personally, the positives aren't nearly enuff to outweigh the negatives. So don't feel too bad about what happened, it's par for the course over there. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Shailara Posted June 28, 2013 Well, I have dolls from Luts, Crobidoll, Angell Studio, Fairyland, AL (Unoa) , IOS, Switch, Volks (DDs), Infinitidoll and soon to have from Lati too and I can say that from all those companies' discussion threads, I only don't post as much in the Minifee thread (I do occasionally if there's something I want to say), the Infiniti, Volks and Switch (because my babus don't have bodies)... The rest of them have really nice people in them and I have a good time generally, although I don't post a lot of pictures (mainly because my resins are away from home or don't have bodies). From what I noticed, the people in the DD discussion threads are really nice too (and most are on here also). I won't disagree that there are "little cliques and people who think you aren't any good unless you own a certain type of doll" as you put it, baldylox, but I generally either avoid those kind of people or just ignore them and it's not really that hard~ Besides, fudgecakes did say s/he was not supposed to post there, so I doubt it was just some crazy mod (there are a few indeed). I'm guessing it was the News threads, a lot of new people on DoA post there while it's not allowed. no offense meant, if you took it personally orz (\_/) ( ' .' ) ( uu)
katnaper Posted June 28, 2013 Hmmm... I'm in DoA too but I'm still new and I don't really post as much or visit there much except to maybe lurk and view tutorials or post the occasional photo of my resin boys. I haven't noticed the clique thingy yet probably because of the above and I haven't encountered a crazy mod (fingers crossed) yet. The one I did have a chance to talk to was nice enough. I find that if I am unsure if my particular post is allowed on a particular thread or not, I could always PM a mod and they'll usually get back to me in 24 hours and they can redirect me to where I'm supposed to post or let me know if I can't and why. Like Billy said, don't feel too bad fudgecakes, we all make mistakes. I know I've made a few here and on other forums too when I was new. I'm sure if you ask them nicely enough, they'll let you know when and where to post stuff correctly. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Or, come see what Nyanko-sensei is up to at the Katnaper's Den
fudgecakes Posted June 28, 2013 Baldylox- Yeah I figured xD that's why I don't really care as long as I don't get banned. I like it here much better and everyone is very helpful! I just wanted to stalk their marketplace and doll pictures but other than that there's not much of a friendly vibe. Ouo very strict but with all the crap stuff that happens I understand Shailara- indeed xD I did post there hehe I Quickly realized that I was the only one that said anything to then I felt embarassed o.o and I've stalked a good number of the discussion threads, I see some very friendly people ^^ oh welps in due time ill have enough posts xD the game thread is pretty fun

Kumi Posted July 15, 2013 Den of Angels, one of the biggest english-language forums about ball-jointed dolls. Mostly resin, but DDs are also allowed, or as they say "grandfathered".

aquilla429 Posted July 15, 2013 I just wanted to put in my opinion on DOA and honestly I have never had an issue there. I have been a member since 2005 and it’s changed a lot since then but honestly, for the size of the forum, I think it is incredibly well managed and I’m really impressed that the mods do such a thorough job. Yes there are some places that are best avoided there, but overall I think it’s still a great place and a real asset to the international BJD community. I’m currently only posting in 2 threads, the Soom teenie gem thread and the waiting room thread for Soom feny and necy. I participate in those two threads as I have those dolls on order at the moment (and the wait is KILLING ME!) I’ve never brought from Soom before and I haven’t had an actual bjd for about 6 years, so I asked some pretty noobish questions in those threads and honestly, several people answered my questions and they were all so helpful and friendly. I also posted a comment on the news page instead of the waiting room for Feny and Necy (they were laid out almost identically and I got my tabs mixed up) I reported my post to a mod advising what happened and apologised for my mistake and they were super kind about it, I was not threatened or treated badly and they didn’t reprimand me in any way. I had an issue several months ago as well where I had to raise a paging thread for a non-responsive seamstress who had a lot of my money with no product. The mods and the community were really kind and helpful to me during that time as well, which was great because it was a really distressing and emotional ordeal for me, everyone’s help and support really helped pull me through and due to the mods input, I was able to come to a satisfactory resolution with the seller without too much trouble in the end. Apart from the above mentioned issue, I have never had an issue with any buyers or sellers on DOA when PM’ing about items and services. Now I’m not saying the negative side of DOA doesn’t exist, but I do think a lot of people are quick to talk about the bad parts, without mentioning the good parts. I think a lot of people are put off DOA without even giving it a fair chance. There are always going to be bad apples in the tree and on a huge forum like DOA compared to smaller BJD forums, it may seem like there are MORE issues with DOA, but I just think it’s mostly just a case of bigger population having more trouble makers. It’s like comparing the crime levels of a capital city to the crime levels of a small town on the outskirts of the countryside. The larger the place is, the more people that are there, the more evident crime will be. I think of DOA kind of like that. I’ve been on a small bjd forum before that was far worse for the cliques and the cattiness then DOA was, because it was a small group of people, it was super hard to even try breaking into their group. I would recommend any BJD fan’s to be on DOA. At the end of the day, if you see drama in a topic, you don’t have to look at it and you don’t have to get involved. If you find someone who you don’t like, just ignore them. The old internet rule of ‘Don’t feed the trolls’ should always be followed, whatever the community. aquilla429 Posted July 15, 2013 I'm not sure if my last post worked or not, forums are being strange for me. Replied to this post, it doesn't show up in main thread, but shows up in my profile and in the topic review twice. Hmm. Sorry if it's posted multiple times My new domain and blog is now based on tumblr, you can find me at http://www.aquilla429.com https://twitter.com/aquilla429
