Shailara Posted July 5, 2013 .... Seriously? And this is why we can't have nice things. I second this, as mean as it sounds...me and Soe help each other when one of us REALLY wants something (basically our grails), but if we won doubles, we'd just give them away to people on the forum...and we're just 2 people... Bellatrix Posted July 5, 2013 I don't see anything wrong in entering many times for you dream doll. I entered 8 times for Rise, and I was just unlucky since I lost all of them. As long that scalping is not happening, people is just trying to get the doll they are wishing.^_^ ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
mitsuki Posted July 5, 2013 Statistically I don't think one or two "regular collectors" with a large number of entries is what is causing everyone to have such bad odds of winning. I don't know if it is rampant "lottery farming" or just a lot more people entering worldwide now more than ever that is the reason the lottery is so hard. I enter the Volks lottery as a formality now knowing it is not that different in odds compared to entering the lottery with the $50 million prize. If I want a new DD, I just assume they all have a $1200-$1300 price tag. Customers in Europe pay that price anyway because of customs taxes, etc.

If I want a new DD, I just assume they all have a $1200-$1300 price tag. Customers in Europe pay that price anyway because of customs taxes, etc. Same. People with lots of resources or friends are skewing things in their favor, and large pockets of dolls end up in one area with none in many others as a result. Yes, you can sell/give away at Volks cost, but you're still possibly taking a win away from someone who entered just once (the legal way) in order to shell wins out among your friends. Maybe I would look past entering two-three times, but recruiting friends so you can enter 20-50 times is a bit much. Those that do things the way the rules imply can only enter once or twice depending on country or risk accounts being banned. So then it's a shock when you actually win. You expect to pay aftermarket prices, and if you're not willing to spend that much then you can't have that doll.
mitsuki Posted July 6, 2013 DDs are easy to want so when a group of us enters a lottery, all of us generally want that DD if we win. Otherwise if we only get one, the person in our half-dozen person circle who wants her most gets her. I used to let the lottery decide if I would get a DD. It isn't like most are really cute and would be great to have in your family. So back when lottery rates were okay, I had a decent chance of getting a particular DD. Now I don't expect to win in general. If I really want a particular DD, I have to buy from the secondary market. The sad thing is that many more people could afford a retail DD compared to a secondary market DD.

mangaemi Posted July 6, 2013 perhaps OT i just don't see why Volks doesn't incorporate more preorders for dolls. Clearly there's a big demand, and maybe if they did preorders vs lotteries there wouldn't be such a giant aftermarket. People clearly want these gals, and Volks would only make enough to cover the preorder. but back on topic, I want these gals bad... but not for 1200$ aftermarket price... it's just too much... I only hope I can get Yukiho for her original price. Like most people I have my limit. The current release prices for girls is about it just for a posable piece of plastic (though a very cute piece of plastic!) Hearing everyone's lottery failures makes me super nervous.. I've only done one lottery and it was for Magical Lucy which was not highly sought after. This go around I'll only have one entry for Yukiho. ♥ ★ ✮ ~ Amassing an army of Anime Cuties ~ ✮ ★ ♥ The Family: Sheryl, Ranka, Kirika, Arlex2, Yoko, Snow Miku, Haruka, Student Mariko, Prisma Illya, Akira, Maria, Cirno, Noumi, Asuna Titania, Sakuya on the way: want: Sailor Moon, Miki, Yukiho
SakuraSylph Posted July 6, 2013 Just to add to the discussion.. Some people write to me on occasion, thinking that being in Japan would solve all their access problems to DD dolls, and thus I should buy DDs for them. I always refuse, because being in Japan is no magic bullet. Even if I wanted to buy, I'd never get the chance. To wit: I've been to every Dolls Party and After-Event in the Tokyo area for the last 10 months, and here are the results: DDs I could have bought: Semi-White Lucy DDs sold out before my spot in line: Melty, Aoko Aozaki, Nanami, Asuna, Alice Kuonji DDs won in JP domestic online lottery: none (entered for four of them). Therefore, Overall DDs bought at retail: none So yeah, being in Japan, it's just as hard to get dolls direct from retail as anywhere else! marionbearmaker Posted July 6, 2013 Ok, I get it, about no chance to win the lottery... Would you people be ok to rationalize a little bit our lottery entries through the forum ? I know I would be happy to entry for the 3 girls for example, I'm only really interested in Chihaya but wouldn't mind that much trying to bond with the two others in case of things go bad and nobody want the winning lottery so I don't feel like it would be really a problem (unless I was to win several dolls )... Just that exchanging a winning Sakuya against a winning Chihaya would be great for example (not that I think I'd won anything ^^'). So if we list what we each want and enter for all each, would it be ok ?
mitsuki Posted July 6, 2013 That is an interesting idea. If say 50 people on the forum were to enter for all 3 new DDs and won collectively 2 Chihayas, 1 Yukiho, and 5 Sakuyas, how would the winners in that group of 50 people be determined? In my small circle of friends, we usually help out the person who can't afford to buy at high prices and really wants that DD. I suppose for the 50 people situation, you could have a lottery among those 50. But there is nothing to make any potential winners give up their DD they won unless they can't pay for her. marionbearmaker Posted July 6, 2013 Well if we win what we want, we keep it. And then priority to the winners to exchange their dolls if possible, then forum lottery ?
mitsuki Posted July 6, 2013 I see what you mean. So the pool is the extra DDs you didn't plan to win. Everyone is entering for all 3, so there would be some won that the person wasn't intending to buy. That sounds like a good idea.
Milkbiscuit Posted July 6, 2013 That actually sounds like a good idea. If I applied for all 3, I would only want Sakuya so if I happened to win the other two girls I wouldn't mind trading them for her. Katiazza Posted July 6, 2013 Hmmm well I wasn't planning on entering for any of them but as long as I was guaranteed someone will pay for any if I won I would be willing to enter to give others an extra chance to win. I just don't want to be banned from Volks because I can't afford to pay for a doll I didn't really want. I doubt this would happen but I really don't want to be banned from future lotteries. *Yuzu* DDS Yaya *Yuuko* DDIII Aozaki Aoko *Sakura* DDII Uryuu Sakuno
bethykins Posted July 6, 2013 It sounds like a really good idea, the only thing to remember is that if you enter with say an address in Italy after winning you can't change the country its shipped to, so the person who was taking the doll would have to have a address in Italy to have the doll shipped to and would be responsible for customs charges etc. I can see people entering and winning dolls in places where customs has to be paid or that isn't a very well known place in terms of people's contacts and then the people who have entered and won those dolls in the first place would be banned. I would love to take part in this in this lottery and future ones but want to make sure people don't get burned by it >< I have a gorgeous family of DD girls See my profile for a list of my beauties!! Shailara Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) Well, as far as I've seen, almost no one has had problem with taking over a doll from someone who realised they can't keep it; although they say the other person will probably need to pay customs, as well as the double shipping (like people who missed out on Momo/Kos-Mos etc). So I doubt anyone would mind paying customs + double shipping, in the end a girl might end up WAY higher than just that. I'll agree that the REAL only solution to this problem is pre-orders though. Everyone will be able to get the girl they want and scalpers won't be AS interested... Edited July 6, 2013 by Guest (\_/) ( ' .' ) ( uu)

Nekota Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) naw no worries : ) and I hope that didn't come off as p!ssy or anything either. it's just hard to get these gals in the lottery sometimes and scalpers have tons of people entering that makes it harder for everyone else. but thankfully you sound like you wont do that so yays! you'll have no problems getting rid of the extra Chihayas I agree on you with scalpers. I mean, the Miki Hoshii that I had to buy from scalpers already cost me like 2x the price. And then Add 500€ on custom fee.So I always have been agains scalpers who buy/participate on lottery and sell for profit. And sorry for all the people who get mad cuz I'm gonna enter that many lottery (though I called some collegue's and ask them I'll ask them at next lottery instead so the digit is lower alot now. so I don't steal anyone other luck. Lower only 5 lottery tickets since I'm still gonna help other people in the forum out) anyways in the future dont brag about this. people will hate you for it Actualy,It's someone else in this forum (RL friend) who ask me to post that so I might be able to get PM's from people who need other DD's except chihaya. But yea. I'm only doing this to help some people in forum and it's not like I'm picky. I just help whoever want yuhiko or the extra chihaya that I win. Not gonna enter lottery for sakuya. All my DD's that I bought are all from scalpers. So if you think about this. I'm not really taken any chances from people in this forum but more from scalpers because I'm gonna sell the extra's DD's with retail volks price to Dollfiedreams forum members. And I did not try to be a jerk or anything since I'm a pretty nice guy in reallife (i think i am since all collegue's loved me "except those 12") And I'm pretty new toward DD's and DD's forum. So yea...I don't know the rules or the etiquette. So all I can say is sorry if I hurt people feelings but I didn't intend to do that. klein Posted July 6, 2013 I miss the old days when everyone just entered lotteries once for a doll they really wanted, maybe twice (USA and international) if the doll was especially desirable to them because it's a favorite character etc . I plan on entering for Sakuya when the time comes, I'm tempted by Yukiho as I like her sculpt but not sure I like her enough to justify entering for her just yet (also not that fussed about Idol in general). mangaemi Posted July 6, 2013 Yeah I like the idea of us all going in for every girl then distributing the wins in theory. just concerned about the possibility of being burdened by extra dolls I didn't want then having to front the collateral right then *if* there was no one available or interested (I mean that might not be a real issue but still... always a chance someone is super lucky and wins too many then can't find buyers and gets permabanned). Maybe we need to make a list of who wants which specific doll the most and is able to pay for that girl on the payment date (which I'm guessing is going to be around Aug?) Yukiho is my main goal if I had to choose. ♥ ★ ✮ ~ Amassing an army of Anime Cuties ~ ✮ ★ ♥ The Family: Sheryl, Ranka, Kirika, Arlex2, Yoko, Snow Miku, Haruka, Student Mariko, Prisma Illya, Akira, Maria, Cirno, Noumi, Asuna Titania, Sakuya on the way: want: Sailor Moon, Miki, Yukiho
marionbearmaker Posted July 6, 2013 Oh yes, we need a very precise list if we do that, number of people really willing to buy each doll and all. This requires a little organization but this might be worth it, seeing prices on Yahoo Japan .

mitsuki Posted July 6, 2013 Secondary market price is twice the price if not more. How would we organize this kind of concerted effort? Like a group order? Everyone enters for all 3. Each person declares there wishlist DD or DDs. Then we divide up the extras that were won and not wanted by the winners.
