Dolpa Nagoya 5, upcoming New Girls

It definitely looks like SS is a thing. Not only is it used in the description of Chihaya, but it's also used in the description of her pink flower outfit (SS / S), the description of the sailor outfit (SS / S / M / L), the description of the pink patterned outfit (SS / S / M), and the description of the blue hoodie & yellow tank top set (SS / S / M / L). I can't imagine Volks would miss the same typo that many times.

So it looks like the information blocks for the dolls are thus, based on some of the larger scans that have shown up so the text is more readable.

EDIT: A couple of you had good points about the SS-bust being listed on the outfits as well. I guess it is a real thing after all!

SS bust in case it goes forward can be a really good piece for custom male DDs indeed.

Jadepixel What I meant to say was that, they are not comming out with semi-white option for SS (or at least, they're not showing it in the scans). So I'm wondering, will you be able to have SS only if you have the one-piece torso, or will they make option parts for DDS/DD too and just didn't show it in the scans? If it's only for the one-piece torso, then it will be hard to make a male DD, as the body line is way too feminine (except if you're going for a total female-looking male)

I am assuming that SS-bust will only be for Chihaya with her one-piece body. It wouldn't be the first DD who had a slightly modified body just for them, and it never became a standard item.

 

Volks has said nothing about making option parts.. In fact they haven't announced SS-bust at all. They just kind of snuck it in there in the product details!

I don't know of the characters, but I googled Chihaya and it seems she is pretty much depicted as DFC, or the more commonly known expression, flat as a board.

She is supposed to be petite, but not completely flat-chested. IMO the S-bust would be the more appropriate choice, if I were designing her, so I am curious if this SS is actually a real thing. Much like with DDs, you can change the clothes of the idols in game, so it's possible to get a canon answer uninfluenced by the fanbase. If you put Chihaya in a swimsuit or china dress you can see where she stands based on the 3D character model. It's supposed to be small, but clearly not equivalent to the boys from idol group Jupiter for instance.

 

In the original game dialogue Chihaya does get sensitive about her size compared to other idols in the company who are younger in age but more mature in body - usually when being asked to do a job at the beach. Over time that escalated into a meme in fan stories, with each author making her more flat and more embarrassed about it than the last.

 

If the SS bust is a real thing and not a misprint -- I haven't gotten my issue yet so I consider everything hearsay 'till then -- then Volks is trying to fall in line with the fan-meme about her.

 

I agree that it's a bit overboard. But, I also think Miki with an L bust is a bit overboard as well and they should have made her with M. 84cm definitely isn't that big. and not nearly as big as a DD L bust!

So, I really want several things offered, but I don't really know the Volks process for things like these. Do they go on sale on the Volks International as a lottery shortly after the Dolpa, and then Volks USA after that? Or is it going to be a click war thing?

I like the flower blossom outfits... Kinda want them for my two girls so they can match for once. I've never actually gotten anything from a Volks event, I'm curious how it works too.

How is it that I like almost ALL of the outfits in this issue of Volks News! ;_; I must get at least some of them!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the girls are incredibly cute....but I can't get all the outfits and a new girl. ;_; Being a DD owner is hard!

Chihaya is one of my favorite characters of all-time but I am not very happy with the first photos so far. She does look too much like Miki, imho.

 

If course they are probably basing off the anime and not the game and that makes a difference. Still.

 

I would love her outfit though and at least they got her hair and eyes right. Not sure about a completely flat chest.

 

Yukiho is pretty. Looks like Asuna though. The doll is better than the character and her outfit was always the best of the lot.

 

The sailor suit - just kill me now. The other fashions in the Dolpa too...so pretty.

 

Too much of what I like is JPN only, so meh. Not for me, I guess. I don't do well with INT lotteries.

my husband gave me the green light to try to go for both Chihaya and Yukiho.. o__o (has hades frozen over?), stipulation being I can't buy anything at Dragoncon this year.. XD

even though chihaya looks like miki - I guess in a way that's kind of good news for those that missed out on Miki before and don't want to pay crazy aftermarket stuff on her. At some point anime faces are going to resemble one another more and more as there's only just so much subtle variation you can do with anime faces. the moe/anime aesthetic is kind of limited in some ways for variation.

Chihaya is kind of growing on me. At this rate, I might get tempted to really try and go for her. Hopefully Volks USA will have them too, but the chances of that happening are probably close to nill...

VolksUSA didn't offer Miki and Haruka - so they probably won't offer these new gals (well, maybe Sakuya?). Probably because they never released any Idolm@ster games over here, or some other company owns the US distribution for any of their materials, or they don't think it's worth their time.. copyright is a weird, confusing bag... In this instance I wish they did so I'd have two chances for each gal in the lottery... /sigh. lol

I loved Sakuya last year, but had to ignore her release due to finances being tight. And I love her rerelease, especially as red is my favorite color so I like this outfit even more. But so sad, we're tight again this summer. Chihaya also looks nice, but I'd probably use her as a boy. Oh well, I guess Sakuya will have to remain on my wishlist only.... /sigh.
