Dollfie Dream MP3 player

One of the things that got me really interested in vinyl dolls was Danny Choo's Smart Doll - Mirai Suenaga. I don't think I will be able to buy Mirai when she is finally released, but I thought it would be interesting if I could still have a neat little "tech" doll.

Thus - I am going to try and turn the DD I'm working on into an MP3 player.

My plan is to install MP3 player electronics inside the lower torso of a DDdy3 body, while having the USB port and speaker plug set flush against slots in her back.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do for speakers yet... I'm not sure I could fit sufficiently powerful speakers inside her body. I remember seeing a really cute doll with speaker wings on DoA, and I might try something like that.

I already have the head I plan to use for this doll - a DD-07, and in doing some research, I should be able to purchase a mini MP3 rather inexpensively.

If anyone has any advice for working with the electronics, or possibly insulating them so they don't damage the vinyl, I would much appreciate it.

Whoa! Very coo idea. I figure since Dynamites have some good skeletal systems and firm chest pieces, you coud put some speakers into each breast? The acoustics could go on their own!

I've actually had to put this project a bit on hold. My research has shown that my best bet would be to start with an MP3 player kit, but most kits in the size I need are advanced-level projects and require programming to get them to do what I would want - some of them don't even have basic functionality like forward and back or pause; they just auto play until the battery is dead.

I'm not giving up, but I think I'll probably start with a bigger, much less expensive doll (like an 18") and learn how to program the MP3 player.

I still have some pretty cool ideas for my doll though, and I'll start posting them as things start solidifying. She's still going to be really kick-arse and unique.
