One more faceup to round out 2016!

Thanks! I got my DDH-10 from Mandarake, so just keep checking cause they do show up occasionally. I think Sheryl's eyes are 22mm but I made them a couple years ago and can't really remember! My next doll project is to make more small eyes so I hope to have that option for summer eye pre-orders

I've been testing out some different materials and techniques for faceups since I had trouble with the new MSC Matte formula. This Dollce A head is sealed with airbrushed Liquetex Matte varnish. I didn't end up using the airbrush for blushing because I'm still learning and airbrushing tiny cheeks is tricky!

 

 

Dollce isn't a perfect match for Volks NS - I think it's closer to Obitsu standard skin tone.

Continuing my experiments with faceup materials, here's my customized Reimu-

 

 

I had a bit of trouble with the surface of matte varnish for faceups, so this time I used mostly matte medium as a fixative, with varnish as the final step. The medium is more delicate than MSC so it's possible to scratch off layers if you aren't careful. On the upside, it's a wonderful surface for drawing and painting! If this combo works I feel I can get some really nice results

The faceups with airbrushed sealant have held up well so far, so I'm trying it on another batch of customs and the first to get finished is Kos-mos. I had the hardest time deciding how to paint her, and ended up with something more fantasy/glam than the usual. I really like how wistful she looks!

Her eyelashes did end up being inspired by Rise's default look, so that makes sense

 

I also was holding onto this girl for a long time, but just finished painting her since the weather is finally good here near Seattle. She's DD Melty with a faceup based on Maki from Love Live. Her eyes are custom made by me as well.

Your KOS-MOS full customization is very original, she is a true pink fairy in this pic.

 

I saw the eyes’ meme and I must say you always do an excellent job Jadepixel. And this Maki is so 1st year with Melty mold. Keep the good job coming!

So it's been a while!
I decided to repaint my Towa with a softer look. It's a lighter and looser style than my usual, once again trying new things :3

I love her! It definitely gives her a very delicate look, and I think her mouth looks war cuter painted this way.

Thanks @Moonsour! Her mouth is super cute, I hope more people customize her because the default mouth paint really doesn't serve the sculpt that well.

 

And here's my custom DDH-12 girl that I also finished this week! I tried out plum-colored acrylic paint for her eyelashes, I think it came out nicely.

 

 

Her sakura eyes are adorable with the pink wig!

That's amazing. I've never been a Towa fan, but with that face-up I really like her.

Updated Liliru - I repainted her eyebrows and mouth, and added more details to the eyelashes plus a bit extra blush.

 

Almost forgot my custom DWC 02 head, cat themed of course!

Lol, that's so funny, a grumpy cat is exactly what I made my DWC 02 into as well. I just haven't finished his cats ears yet, so I don't have any pictures.

I like how yours turned out as well.

I didn't have a plan when I ordered it, but as soon as I saw the head I knew it was a grumpy kitty. Would love to see photos of yours when he's done!
I'd also like to do custom ears and a calico wig for mine, once I finish a thousand other projects first T_T
