Astrosexy Rinrin (vmf50 Nao - slightly NSFW)

Recommended Posts

kymaera

More picture spam to tempt Billy into buying his own vmf50. Rinrin got a new outfit tonight and wanted to show it off.

rin_astro1_zpsc6fbe7db.jpg

Rinrin: I guess I am now Astromancer Rinrin! Fear my celestial power and knowledge!

rin_astro4_zps23dc5fe4.jpg

Rinrin: I summon the power of the cosmos to smite you!

Me: I don't think you could summon a kamehameha.

Rinrin: Want to bet I couldn't build a device to do that?

Me: Um...let's don't.

rin_astro2_zps83b889c0.jpg

Me: It's not too short for you is it?

Rinrin: Oh no! Not at all. In fact, with this weather, it's still a tad warm even with it this short. Even shorter wouldn't be that bad.

Me: I'm not I can get it much shorter without violating some laws if you wear it outside.

rin_astrohot1_zps64682fe3.jpg

Rinrin: Well, there's always alternative methods.

Me: You're not going to turn this into a NSFW thread, are you?

Rinrin: How else are we going to get Billy's attention?

Me: This...is true.

rin_astrohot2_zps8a9f2b4e.jpg

Rinrin: *laughs* Look! Now, I'm dressed for Billy's house.

Me: Actually, that's probably formal wear for that place.

Rinrin: Indeed, chief.

A+ ...this post makes me more excited to get Nao, er, now?

what kind of eyes does she have in here? also where did you get the yukata? just wondering because it seems like galaxy fabrics are suddenly everywhere... i bought a bikini set for one of my BJD in a very similar fabric. Nao's has significantly more planets and rainbow color ratio on it, though.

fun fact: if you live in Florida, as long as you are PROTESTING something, it's legal to be topless in public (as a woman of course...)

idk where you and Billy live but...

Sheesh, you make it sound like my girls are FORCED to wear almost nothing around the house! I'll have you know they CHOOSE to wear whatever they like here, be that a t-shirt and shorts, a kimono or the "formal wear" you and Rinrin so nicely showed us.

I really do like your Rinrin tho, she's awesome. That Nao on YJA is out of my reach for now because I don't have the funds to give "From Japan" to bid on her. But I'll do what I can to try and get one of these girls eventually!

And I live in SC and have no idea what the laws are regarding public undress. All I know is *I* won't be protesting topless anywhere now because it's way too hot to be out in the sun with no shirt!

The eyes are from Ersa Flora (Anime - Anime Purple(16mm)).

I made the yukata last night. I've been learning to sew and my learning project is to sew yukatas for each of my girls.

@Billy: They may not be forced, but you at least bribe them with cookies.

I don't bribe them at all! I buy the cookies for ME with full intent of eating them.... it just seems I never get to due to the girls finding my hiding places for the cookies. Now I'm sure I *could* bribe them with cookies and such if I really tried to but I haven't done that. There's really no need to since half of them hang around the house in various stages of undress anyways.

ah neat, i know Ersa Flora by name but i've never purchased from them. i was planning on changing some of my girls' eyes out possibly, though, so i'll keep it in mind!

i envy your sewing skills, as someone who has none, it looks really good even if you just began learning yourself.

Ersa Flora eyes are really great. I've replaced quite a few of my girls' eyes with them.

i've heard good things about them, that's for sure.

have you ever purchased from Twin Snow? i was wondering how they compare. most of my dolls (that do not keep default eyes) either wear Twin Snow or SoulDoll eyes (SoulDoll are a BJD company but they actually make many eyes large/small enough for DD and VMFs)

no worries, it's all good. next time i need (or want) to buy doll eyes, i might do an experiment and buy Ersa Flora.

edit: BTW, if you want to see a comparison of Twin Snow and SoulDoll eyes, i happen to use both on my DD Rei '08... if you're happy EF it's all good of course, but i thought i'd share in case you like to see.

Twin Snow > ts-00

SoulDoll > mv3 (not the best pic, but one reason i like SoulDoll eyes is they often have designs and patterns on them, such as the butterflies)

Those are quite nice.

These are probably the most unusual ones that I've gotten so far. Well, at least one of them:

those look awesome. what company/sculpt is that BJD? i don't recognize the face but she looks really cool - (on the other hand, i suck at recognizing doll sculpts sometimes... if i had to guess i'd say "maaaaybe is she a Dollmore Model or Iplehouse doll?")... i could probably dig through your off-topic posts and possibly find out but-- /lazy

You were right. She's a real skin nYID (Iplehouse) Rexy sculpt who I've named Roxy (Oxsana).

oh, nice! i don't own any Iplehouse but i see them quite often at BJD meets, yet i don't think anyone ever brought a Rexy to a meet that i remember.

their dolls always are such nice quality IRL as well as in photos which i find other BJD companies are not so consistent with always. great name choice too~!

Thanks. I have two Iplehouse girls. There's Roxy who you've seen up above and the other is Amala (JID Isar).

They're pretty consistent quality and I really like that they have the tan variants.

funnily enough, i heavily considered Isar when she was available, but passed up on her. i've seen her in person though - someone who goes to my local BJD meet has two Isar JID each with different customization options (i think he bodswaps them around, but also has two heads with different make-up?).

link to his flickr (contains some doll nudity, "artistic" context - now that i think about it.... his photography style reminds me of some of the older and non-explicit METart photos...as in from early 2000s? that site is as explicit as any standard pinup porn site now, but afaik METart used to have a lot more focus on "artistic nudes of pretty girls in nature" than "nice to meet you, now here is my vagina"-type photos...) -

Lakmé and Juliet

where did the name Amala come from, jw?

also holy smokes, because we were discussing Iplehouse i looked at their website for the first time in a while...

not only are they having a summer sale on clothing (i have never bought their clothing, but koba-2011 told me some of it fits VMFs... he has some photos of his dolls wearing some somewhere)

but, ugh. as if my "doll wishlist" wasn't already completely, unrealistically long or my wallet wasn't already - i wonder if i can say this without the forum correcting me - completely raped.... one of my weaknesses is for vampire/elf dolls with gray skin (i currently own ~6 BJD that fall into at least one of those categories...)

lo and behold:

http://iplehouse.com/home/shop/item.php?it_id=1572036777&nhn1=en

goddamnit Iplehouse, goddamnit.

aside from the fact that i don't know if i could afford this at the moment (i paid for Romina/Nao 3 months ago fwiw, but literally yesterday i made a payment on something else that was in the price range of this IH girl) but i also am a bit wary of making impulse buys because i find that the less time i have (or take) to consider whether i really want to buy something, the less likely i am to have a positive reaction when i see it in person. there are exceptions to the rule but generally this is true.

so i uh...have one week to think about if it's even viable at all... i guess. i'll have to ask the boyfriend what he thinks of this since his opinions about what i should or shouldn't buy usually turn out to be correct (not just from a financial POV).

oh- right. before i got distracted by looking at Iplehouse and their disgusting wares, i had a question about that pic of Amala. i assume the BK is photoshop, but did you use some kind of green-screen for it? i can see green lighting and shadow outlining certain parts of her body, especially around the arm, so i can't think what else it could be from.

Amala came from a character in the really craptacular anime series Devadasy.

One thing to remember is that IH has a history of re-releasing their dolls, but without the accessories. For example, I'd considered buying Lahela when she came out but didn't. But now, you can get her as part of their custom doll system...just don't get the clothes/accessories.

Yeah, that was a very crappy green screen (i.e. neon green piece of posterboard) where I played around with it. The picture I posted in the other thread of Rinrin (this one) was done with the same setup. Because the "screen" is so small, I couldn't get enough separation between the girls and it, so there was a bit of bleed.

well, sometimes crappy anime is so bad it's good, and the names or characters just stick with you...

... like, for instance, Evangelion *badum-tish*

TBH, the entire appeal of that doll to me is the fantasy accessories and weird gothic option hands/ears/wings/skintone option, plus i like the outfit a lot.

the 'human' version of the doll with WS is very beautiful, but just not something that i could justify owning myself. it's the limited perks that make me like her and that would allow her to fit in with part of my BJD collection.

anyway. because of being an IH noob...i realized...they offer 3 month layaway... which would then be totally affordable if i decide i actually want the doll, vs a very prohibitive upfront payment.

i have a longer list of "stuff i want" than i will ever own, so i have to have a priority system... i decided my main priority system for buying dolls this year was to try to only buy a doll if it falls into a category of:

1 - out of production (second hand) or extremely rare

2 - limited availability, quantity, limited edition/special event edition

3 - unique/OOAK artist modification

so far i've stuck with that and obviously the Vampire Bianca also falls into those rules... but i've also missed many limited edition BJD (from IH and other companies) in the past, and there will always be new and shiny dolls to covet in future. i'm a fairly privileged collector so i don't have to have everything, because i already have "enough" even if i always *want* more.

anyway...

for the record, i wasn't directly criticizing your green screen or photoshop skillz, since i make some pretty awful and far more noticeable photo/shop snafus all the time, but i did observe it so it made me wonder.

i was going to ask you how you created it but you already explained, so it makes sense. i relate to taking pics in ghetto conditions.

what i normally do when i want to use a "fake background" is upload the background image on to a monitor, and then pose the doll in front of it. this pic -http://flic.kr/p/d1ARvs- is an example of that technique, but i was curious about green screens because someone suggested i try using them instead. i wondered if there was any advantage (more realistic full body photos, perhaps? or avoiding the "pixel juice" you sometimes get from photographing screens up close...)

i've seen it before, but that's a very cute picture of RinRin (the green BK one). even though i can see the bleed in it, it doesn't detract at all from the whole picture to me. i have a penchant for weird or bright neon colors in photos anyway, i mena they only stand out to me in a way that looks a tiny bit "off" when the photo is as dark and shadowy as the one with Amala.

Well, I can think of a few advantages:

1) You're not limited by the size of your monitor. If you have a large enough setup, you could do multiple dolls.

2) No need to worry about the glare or reflections on the monitor.

Rinrin is very beautiful and has a sophisticated look about her. I think now I'll have to get a Nao of my own!
