Winterplane Posted July 26, 2013 I was on Volks USA looking at parts to buy to make a DD and they say "no inner frame included", how would I put a doll together from scratch using those parts if there is no frame inside to hold it together? Does the skeleton come as a part you have to put in yourself?
Leadcrow Posted July 26, 2013 If your looking at the DDIII bust parts, those don't come with the internal piece. You buy "Upper Torso Internal Frame" as a separate item. The rest(waist, thighs, shins, arms, and feet) come with their internal frame pieces included. This also goes for MDDIII, DDDYIII and DDS bodies. If happen to be looking at the older body types such as DDII, those can only be bought as a whole body.
baldylox Posted July 26, 2013 If you're looking at DDII parts, those do NOT come with the inner skeleton pieces, they never did. All those pieces you see like shins, thighs and arms are the outer vinyl covers. The only way to get the inner skeleton frame for the DDII and original DDdy is to buy one of the premade character girls like Yukino or Aoi. Volks doesn't sell those inner frames by themselves. Now if you're looking under DD3 parts, those DO come with the inner frame parts. The only one that doesn't is the bust.... you have to buy that inner torso piece separately like the poster above said. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. TomoTomo Posted July 26, 2013 I'm interested in this as well after lurking here for awhile I now would like a DD. So basically I would have to buy a body/base girl or character to have a complete internal frame?? Is the DD internal frame the same as the DDdy internal frame??? baldylox Posted July 26, 2013 I'm interested in this as well after lurking here for awhile I now would like a DD. So basically I would have to buy a body/base girl or character to have a complete internal frame?? The above is true ONLY if you are after the older bodies like the DDII and the original MDD or DDdy. All the newer bodies like DDS, DD3 DDdy3 and MDD3 are available with the inner frame parts separately. Only the older body parts are sold by Volks without internal frame parts. Is the DD internal frame the same as the DDdy internal frame??? Yes. On all the older DDII and DDdy bodies, the internal skeletons/frames are identical. Only the outer vinyl parts are different. TomoTomo Posted July 26, 2013 The newest version is what I like a lot of movement in the joints much like a VMF50;) Had any issues with peach Pai replacements?? If I'm going to do this she's going to be a true custom princess
baldylox Posted July 26, 2013 The newest version is what I like a lot of movement in the joints much like a VMF50 I gotcha. I like the range of movement on the newer bodies too. Had any issues with peach Pai replacements?? If I'm going to do this she's going to be a true custom princess. Nope, I have a set of Peach Pai on my DDdy3 girl Manami and they work just fine. I wasn't sure they would tho since the newer bodies don't have that big support plate under the busts like the older ones did but I tried it out and they sit well and look great. So if you're wanting Peach Pai for your girl, don't worry, they'll work just fine! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Winterplane Posted July 26, 2013 Thank you guys for your information. I did ask Volks and they said the same too, I'll just have to wait for the next shipment of full DDII sets! But I REALLY WANT TO THANK YOU because I was about to buy all the parts and then assemble it, but luckily I read more of the description and got confused about the "no inner frame" part. So at least I can buy a head a work on it for a while

LOTS of questions. Good luck on the head and getting the body when it's available! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. TomoTomo Posted July 27, 2013 Sorry I high jacked you thread WP but rather than starting something else I thought we'll just continue with this one I guess we're in the same place I also would like to build up a DD as I really prefer the VMF50/AP "BUT" the DD are so alluring I really think the 3rd is what you should look for;);)
Distractus Posted August 10, 2013 Awesome, I was just thinking of doing this with DDS parts very soon. Is it hard to put one together from all the parts? Are any of the parts prone to breaking while doing so? D: I'm just wondering if I should order two of some parts or something similar.
jadepixel Posted August 16, 2013 I thought it was pretty difficult to assemble, especially the thigh parts for DDS. Use a hair dryer to warm the parts and be firm, but don't force things such that they break. You may want to wear gloves if you spend a long time handling new vinyl parts, the chemicals released can irritate sensitive skin. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
babytarragon Posted August 26, 2013 I'm still a bit confused >_< Ultimately it'll cost me a lot more to build my DDS from parts, but it means I can immediately change chest and hands parts to what I want, rather than buying them on top of default parts... Buying parts also seems more fun, I can do it bit by bit
Aronzo96 Posted September 21, 2013 Umm, so wait... They only way to get an assembled body is to buy a full character doll? Because in the parts section, the DDII body is listed as one item with all the parts, including the wire frame. I'm really confused, because that's what this thread is making it sound like. SakuraSylph Posted September 21, 2013 I'd say putting together a DDS/DD3 is a little challenging the first time because, without experience yet, you're not quite sure how things fit together and need to do some experimenting. But after the first one, it's easy. There are no problems during assembly unless you try to force something so hard you exceed it's breaking point (always a bad idea). However, assembly is the perfect time to install CoolCat aluminum reinforcements on the hips and shoulders in order to prevent any possible stress fractures in the future. The doll's already taken apart, after all! To the previous poster who was confused about body types: -DD II comes as assembled bodies only. This is the older version, but still sold today. You could get replacement vinyl skin bits for DDII, but those were intended as replacement skin only and you could not build a doll out of them because of lack of internal frame. -DD III & DDS came as individual pieces only for the last couple years, complete with internal frame. The only way to get a fully-assembled DD3/DDS was to buy a finished doll. However next month, DDIII and DDS will be sold as both parts and as assembled bodies (in normal skin anyway). So you will have another choice very soon. SakuraSylph
