Hanako always has fun when she's making music! No, she's not using her hand as a mute. That's the normal hand position for someone who plays the horn. It helps with tuning the instrument, and also serves as a way of holding the instrument. Of course, there are hand-stopping techniques that you can use to achieve the stopped horn sound as well, but Hanako isn't to that point in her playing just yet. ^^ If you can't already tell, I play the French Horn. Billy Thank you Billy! She adores the French Horn, just like her papa! The horn is actually a Christmas tree ornament I received as a gift several years ago. Not sure where it came from, but out of all of the horn ornaments I have, this one was just the right size for Hanako. Sekitan no Hashira Posted August 7, 2013 I loved these pictures! That Frnech horn seems like it would make a pretty big ornament though. I kind of want to find a DD sized trombone sometime, but that seems like it'll be a bit of a challenge. Anways, you were lucky to find one that's the perfect size.
