Concept: Heian Noblewoman

Yeah... It would be quite easy with a white skin doll, at least I would think. The Heian period is known for its layers upon layers of kimono, but the make-up of the period was very interesting. Women blackened their teeth (it was considered bad luck, a sign of death, distasteful, etc. to show bone), grew their hair as long as they could (sometimes so long that it trailed along behind them for several feet), shaved their eyebrows and repainted them higher up on their foreheads, painted their faces white (with nightingale poop and rice powder) and painted their lips bright red with safflower, adding melted sugar so they'd be extra shiny. All in all, it's like an early version of Kabuki/Geisha makeup.

 

I just saw the white-skin dolls and thought, "I have an idea..."
