XOHimitsuOX Posted July 28, 2013 With all the hype about Shingeki no Kyojin, i decided to make a 3D maneuver gear. I took a while to make (most of the time, i wasn't in the mood) but i got there at the end. I had to tweak my design a few times, and there are things i could do better but too lazy to modify it. The clothes are bits and bobs that took from my collection of clothes besides from the jacket and cloak, which i bought. I also made a new stand. 3D Maneuver Gear by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr My new DD stand by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr My new DD stand by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr DSC00038 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr DSC00039 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr DSC00046 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr DSC00047 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr A couple more stands i made for some friends DSC00004 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr DSC00001 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr
sleepywolf Posted July 28, 2013 Impressive workmanship on both the 3D Manuver Gear and the stands! Did you cut the plexiglass for the stands yourself? As far as I know it's not easy to cut plexiglass and get a neat edge finish. baldylox Posted July 28, 2013 Wow, those are some impressive projects you've been working on! The 3D gear looks anime accurate for sure, I love all the details you've manged to fit in there. How did you get the emblems onto the jacket? Those look really well done and not like iron-ons. And I really like those stands! The tripod mount is excellent and the style you managed to put into them is crazy cool. It's even nicer that you can do custom images on the flat spots, another great idea. Thanks for sharing these pics! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

The main problem was when it didn't cleanly break off, which i had to use a rotary tool shave of the excess plastic. I was a lot of work trying to sand the edges too. Thanks for sharing these pics! Billy I got the jacket and cloak from taobao, and the emblems look like iron ons. About the stands, I just couldn't find what i was looking for. I even bent the pole so that it could be hidden easily behind the legs. I wanted something unique, hence the option place a picture at the base, like those photo frames. But i have some other ideas that i have yet to make.
OldMagician Posted December 26, 2013 Thanks for the inspiration, those are great stands. A tip for finishing the plexiglass is to heat it with a heat gun (just like when you bend it), takes away minor imperfections and small cracks. What material did you use for the poles? Aluminium or steel?
