I think that no one has ever seen a fake DD. this regarding not only to VOLKS dolls but also outfits they produce. aquilla429 Posted July 30, 2013 I think the problem is more with the illegal recasting of their resin dolls then it is the clothes in my opinion. Volks are one of the main companies for being recast and the people doing it go to extreme detail to make exact copies, right down to copying the resin look and feel and even reproducing the metal name plates from the head caps! Years ago recasting used to be a smaller scale problem where you had a few bad eggs who would recast a doll, then sell it on eBay, passed off as legit and it would sell for the same price as the legit version. That probably still happens somewhere, but what also happens now, is that people knowingly sell recast dolls for a fraction of the price of legit dolls and customers will knowingly buy those recast dolls instead of going for the companies legit model. I think recasting SD's is definitely the bigger issue here, I've seen more sources to get recast doll then I have to get copy cat clothes. Gunter Posted July 30, 2013 i blame china Preeeeetty much. That's where the bootlegs come from. I think this is mostly in regards to the SD, and the possibility of DD. I've heard no where about fake DD, and even on DoA they haven't found such a thing, and they have some serious witch hunters there. So safe to say that it is mostly regarding the resin line. The clothing line isn't as bad either, just the resin is the real kicker for them. Follow the rule of resin: Keep the official box and papers and no one can ever tell you you have a fake. Recasters advertise they are recasting so they don't bother with such things. There is a reason when I got my Ryomou head I specifically asked to take her box and papers. Still will settle for DDS MOMO. Nono, Momo, what's the difference? And my Nono already disapproves of my DD collecting fetish. They're selling a recast Nono for $259 and a ton of other resin dolls from Volks and other makers. They don't sell any vinyl dollfies. OP should prolly change subject to "UNAUTHORIZED" instead of "ILLEGAL". ILLEGAL depends on local law. It certainly is not ILLEGAL in China to do what these guys are doing. I doubt Volks are referring to those, because they don't even try to claim to be authentic Volks products which is what the Volks notice is all about. Nekopon Posted August 1, 2013 Volks clothing stains just as much as off-brand clothing. The only other problem I would say to watch out for are body stockings, only get official ones. I mean...maybe I am wrong and they are just really good looking fakes. It just seems to me that there would be some inherent problems with casting vinyl. Volks quality isn't too great. I don't have many Volks outfits but the ones I do have I've not been completely satisfied with. Almost every Volks set I do have seems to have at least one fault, even the outfits that some with expensive limited dolls!!! I guess it's because they prefer to recast resin pieces and a resin DD head would be a HUGE give away that it is a fake. As for the bodies it is too expensive to replicate the internal structure so they probably won't bother with that. The most I would expect to see is a recast DD head on a strung recast SD body.
